A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 923 - 915: Chaos (4)

Chapter 923: Chapter 915: Chaos (4)

Four years later!

X Base has been annihilated, and as the last hope for the Evolved Humans of this world, A Base stands like the final rock amidst stormy waves, always on the brink of being devoured by giant wolves, yet steadfastly enduring.

The surviving forces from numerous bases obliterated in the chaos naturally congregate towards A Base.

Despite the damage caused by the Tumor Frog People to A Base, these converging Evolved Humans not only filled the void but made A Base stronger than before.

Buzzing, buzzing, buzzing, buzzing...

In the deep of night, alarms blare through A Base, and many Evolved Humans have instinctively adapted to the frequent alarm-ridden lifestyle, even mastering numerous locations where Tumor Frog People might breach the base!

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh...

The explosion of spiritual bullets and shells pierces the air incessantly; through countless battles, the Evolved Humans’ fear of the Tumor Frog People seems to be slowly diminishing.

In terms of numbers and reproduction speed, Tumor Frog People possess a natural disadvantage.

Bang!

As one of the seventeen Cabinet Elders, Grade-A Evolver Sunx Jingsong lies in ambush within a pavilion, using his keen insights and the most advanced spiritual sniper rifle in the Evolved Humans’ arsenal to assassinate one indistinct, semi-transparent target after another.

"Four."

Counting his kills silently, Sunx Jingsong carefully collects the unique shell ejected from his sniper rifle and loads the fifth sniper bullet, searching through the chaos for the fifth Tumor Frog People target invading A Base.

Hmm!?

With a sharp sense of danger, Sunx Jingsong leaps backward, and almost mid-air, the spiritual bullet from his sniper rifle erupts with a "bang," striking the figure that gave him the sense of danger within the pavilion.

Using the powerful recoil of the sniper rifle, Sunx Jingsong effectively distances himself from the dangerous target.

Looking at the bloodstains on the pavilion walls and the nearly two-meter-tall Tumor Frog Person, severely injured in the abdomen and unable to remain invisible, Sunx Jingsong breathes a slight sigh of relief.

Once they lose their invisibility ability, the Tumor Frog People aren’t as terrifying anymore.

"Five!"

With unbelievable speed, naturally achieved, Sunx Jingsong swings his sniper rifle away, holding a dagger in his right hand and a spiritual rapid-fire gun in his left, facing the Grade-A Tumor Frog Person with immense confidence. Just as his left fingers press down on the rapid-fire gun’s handle, an unimaginable impact hits him from behind.

With a "boom" sound, Sunx Jingsong crashes into the Green wall.

"Another one!?"

In despair, Sunx Jingsong struggles to turn his head, only to see a nearly three-meter muscular, terrifying Tumor Frog Person revealing itself. An overwhelming pressure descends from the air, its webbed right foot pressing on Sunx Jingsong’s chest, leaving him powerless to resist, slowly losing consciousness in pain.

"King Yong."

The injured Tumor Frog Person covers its wound, weakly saluting this King of the Tumor Frog People.

This Tumor Frog Person felt a sense of dread; if not for King Yong’s timely intervention, it might have been doomed. No wonder this species once ruled the world; these Evolved Humans are not as weak as they seem on the surface.

"Hmm, leave here immediately; those two should appear any moment now."

The Tumor Frog Person naturally understood who King Yong referred to as "those two."

It’s been countless occasions; each time King Yong leads the Tumor Frog People to assault this seemingly doomed Evolved Human base, two S-Class Evolutionary Humans inevitably emerge to obstruct.

Even with a flawless synergy, these two S-Class Evolutionary Humans are no match for King Yong. However, the most terrifying aspect is that the whole base seems to assist them, constantly thwarting King Yong’s advances.

This situation has persisted for five years!

Every time, the outcome remains unchanged...

"Yes!"

The Tumor Frog Person dared not delay, swiftly crash through the pavilion’s glass to escape, while King Yong stood still, his powerful presence emitted visibly.

Indeed, just moments later, the silhouettes of two S-Class Evolutionary Humans quietly appear inside the pavilion. Almost simultaneously, a powerful sniper bullet strikes from afar, which King Yong deftly dodges with a seemingly casual turn.

Boom!

Moments later, Li Yue and Shi Bingce, two S-Class Evolutionary Humans, fly out of the pavilion, appearing disheveled.

Almost as they falter, from afar, a spiritual bomb hits the pavilion, instantly enveloping the Tumor Frog Wart King in destructive spiritual light.

With ample combat experience, Li Yue and Shi Bingce knew that such an attack would only delay this terror creature, causing no real damage.

Indeed, as the spiritual glare fades, from the pavilion ruins steps King Yong, towering and robust, looking around with his agile, cruel apricot-yellow pupils targeting Evolved Humans from all directions.

"Is it still the same?"

Being a creature with basic cognitive intelligence, after numerous identical outcomes, this A Base seems shaky amidst storms, ready to fall, yet always just a step from doom. Through logical analysis, King Yong arrives at a conclusion that fills him with fear.

This Evolved Human A Base isn’t as straightforward as it appears!

Upon reflection, although intruding into A Base dozens of times, each instance merely scratching its surface without understanding the deeper structure; everything remains unknown.

It feels as if an invisible puppet master orchestrates everything from behind the scenes, and there must be some unknown secret deep within the base.

"If that’s the case..."

Swoosh!

Ignoring everything, King Yong charges toward the secret underground entrance of A Base, identified after dozens of attacks, despite Li Yue and Shi Bingce’s futile resistance, or the relentless, storm-like attacks of numerous Evolved Humans. Even with wounds more numerous than in previous encounters combined, King Yong’s indomitable body doesn’t retreat.

If there truly is a secret within this base, it must lie at the deepest core of it.

Bang!

Breaking through the metal gate, a squad of low-level Evolved Human soldiers attempts to block but is easily swept away like debris by King Yong’s charge, leaving corpses scattered.

At the end of the passage, two spiritual Octopod Self-propelled Cannons appear, moving like giant spiders, "rumble" "rumble" across the metal floor, aiming their barrels at the intruder.

Boom! Boom!

In just a moment, the two spiritual Octopod Walkers burst into flames, totally twisted and disassembled, becoming piles of wreckage.

Even while under constant attack from Li Yue and Shi Bingce, King Yong pays no heed and continues charging deeper into the base, the greasy layer on his skin providing perfect protection, minimizing outside assaults.

Bang!

Another metal door is breached...

Layer upon layer of defenses is recklessly broken through by King Yong, wounds numbering near a hundred, with fragrant green blood spilling, as Li Yue and Shi Bingce pursue wildly, attempting to hinder.

Finally, at a corner, a large Laboratory’s metal door opens, and from within, a seemingly nondescript Evolved Human casually steps out—this base’s secret Final Guardian!

Rustle!

The Tumor Frog Wart King halts.

Behind him, Li Yue and Shi Bingce lead countless Evolved Humans in pursuit and block King Yong in the narrow passage.

Feeling unprecedented biological waves, like a vast ocean before him, King Yong’s towering, muscular body is unable to advance, speaking with deep excitement, "Indeed, a secret is hidden within this base, and you are its Final Guardian?"
