Chapter 1662: Heavenly Emperor Proclamation Envelopes The World

"There will be no Heavenly Emperors within the divine continents for the next ten years!"

That proclamation was like the divine order of a god, causing the entire world to rumble as the message spread into every corner of the divine continents. Worldly natural energy surged, causing tides of energy to sweep across the lands, creating strange and miraculous phenomena.

All of the living creatures in the world could somehow feel that all of the Heavenly Emperors would seclude themselves for the next ten years, no longer revealing themselves to the people.

"Is this a Heavenly Emperor's Edict?" Li Luo thought, astounded.

He was completely taken aback as it seemed like Heavenly Emperor Jiang had called forth something very similar to the edict he had dealt with before.

Back in the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent, the Tri-Pupil Enigmatic Fetus Grand Devil King had created the "Kings May Not Enter" Heavenly Emperor Edict, which restricted the King Stage experts from the Heavenly Emperor powers from entering. As a result, the Bloodlines of Heavenly Emperor Li and Qin had suffered greatly in the resulting Other Disaster. However the Tri-Pupil Enigmatic Fetus Grand Devil King's Heavenly Emperor Edict was only capable of influencing a small region, and only within the Stygian Rain.

Meanwhile, Heavenly Emperor Jiang's edict had pervaded throughout the entire ten divine continents! Just how frightening was that?

Of course, what was most shocking was that the group being targeted by the edict was Heavenly Emperors. It wasn't strictly limited to Heavenly Emperors though—beings at the level of Heavenly Emperors would be affected as well. This included the Shadow World's Grand Devil Kings.

This was probably Heavenly Emperor Jiang's goal, to use the power of the Ancient Covenant to activate a Heavenly Emperor Edict that was capable of affecting the vast expanse of the ten divine continents. The edict would prevent the Shadow World's Grand Devil Kings from entering, in turn preventing them from starting the Origin Reversion War.

So long as no Grand Devil Kings could enter the field, the side of the humans would be able to buy time before the war started in full.

"What a magnificent counter move." Li Luo couldn't help but sigh.

After the Realm Wall had been opened by Heavenly Emperor Yin, the rest of the Heavenly Emperor experts were helpless as no one knew the solution to this deadly predicament. However, Heavenly Emperor Jiang had stood his ground.

The Heavenly Emperor Edict had given the divine continents ten years to prepare. That swift and decisive act made him worthy of leading the Academic Federation.

Even the Pill Saint, one of the Void Resonance's Six Sons, revealed a look of surprise as she praised, "That was a timely and well placed edict. It seems that every era is held up by a strong pillar."

Although Heavenly Emperor Jiang was much weaker than the Sect Master in terms of sheer strength, he couldn't be faulted. The Legendary Sect Master had been too outstanding and no one had managed to achieve the same heights, neither in the past nor in the present.

That said, the Sacred Void Resonance Sect had never attempted to create an edict powerful enough to block Heavenly Emperors. Despite being a Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperor, Heavenly Emperor Jiang was only able to do this because of the Ancient Covenant.

The Ancient Covenant wouldn't have been very useful to the Sacred Void Resonance Sect, considering that they lorded over their era and were powerful enough to launch an attack on the Shadow World.

Li Jingzhe could sense the changes in the world around him as the edict took effect. He could sense a mysterious force looming between the heavens and the earth, shackling him, causing his Authority to be gradually suppressed. The effects of the suppression were increasing over time, and unless he left the divine continents, it would not disappear.

Li Jingzhe raised his head, looking beyond the Realm Wall. He noticed that the Grand Devil Kings' auras were swiftly dissipating as well. This meant that they were affected by the Heavenly Emperor's Edict as well.

Furious roars echoed out from the Shadow World.

The Grand Devil Kings had not expected that Heavenly Emperor Jiang would be able to suppress beings as powerful as them to this degree.

For the next ten years, none of the Grand Devil Kings would be allowed to take a single step into the ten divine continents.

The gaze of the Umbra Eclipse Grand Devil King pierced through the Realm Wall. It glared at Heavenly Emperor Jiang as its voice boomed.

"Heavenly Emperor Jiang, it looks like you'll have to pay quite a price to enact this edict, even though you're a Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperor."

Heavenly Emperor Jiang's titanic Divine Fruit Ancestral Physique began to swiftly shrink along with the Ancient Covenant. Some of the blurry figures on the Ancient Covenant had become much fainter than before.

The edict had clearly drained the treasure's power quite significantly.

It then transformed into motes of light which dissipated back into the heavens and the earth. At the same time, Heavenly Emperor Jiang returned to his original form, though his temples were now speckled with white hair.

This scene was incredibly shocking to Li Luo.

Heavenly Emperor Jiang possessed a Divine Fruit wood resonance, the resonance type that allowed one to have the most vigorous life force. However, judging by his snow-white temples, it was clear that activating the Heavenly Emperor Edict had depleted him to the point that the side-effects could not be averted despite his boundless vitality. A chunk of his lifespan had been severed.

Heavenly Emperor Jiang briefly touched his temples, then he gave a radiant smile. "This is nothing to be concerned about. Being able to buy time for the divine continents is very much worth it."

"It's merely ten years. What can you hope to change with so little time? This edict has also suppressed the Heavenly Emperors on your side. Our Devil Kings and their Other Dominions can still descend and thus nothing has really changed," said Umbra Eclipse Grand Devil King.

"The Shadow World has Devil Kings, but we have our own genius Kings. If you wish to trespass, we will be sure to meet you head-on," Heavenly Emperor Jiang retorted.

"Then you can sit tight and wait for my Devil Kings and their Other Dominions to descend from the Shadow World. At that point in time, your Heavenly Emperors will only be able to watch their descendents and families get slaughtered while they're stuck in the Nobles' Battlefield," threatened Umbra Eclipse Grand Devil King murderously, causing even the sky to turn dark.

Heavenly Emperor Jiang no longer bothered to bicker with it. He descended from the sky towards Xia City.

With the edict in place, the Umbra Eclipse Grand Devil King's fury was nothing to be concerned about. Heavenly Emperor Zhang and Li Jingzhe had solemn expressions as they clasped their hands respectfully towards him. He had stepped up in the heat of the moment to buy precious time for them all. His sacrifice was more than deserving of their respect.

"I'm afraid the two of you will have to follow me to the Nobles' Battlefield in order to avoid the effects of the edict. The Shadow World's Grand Devil Kings might not be able to descend into the divine continents through the Realm Wall gap, but that also means that they will inevitably launch an assault through the Nobles' Battlefield instead. Our Heavenly Emperors will be under great pressure as a result," said Heavenly Emperor Zhang.

The next ten years would undoubtedly be a period of great strife. The Devil Kings were not restricted by the Edict and thus, countless Other Dominions would surely descend, starting a storm of slaughter and destruction. The battle would be on a scale far greater than the Other Disasters that had afflicted the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent and the Xia Kingdom.

The Shadow World would similarly restart the battle against the Heavenly Emperors in the Nobles' Battlefield, all to ensure that their attention would be diverted. The battles would thus turn more intense and be filled with even more danger.

The peaceful days had come to an end, both in the divine continents and the Nobles' Battlefield. The darkest hour had arrived. However, there was not much point in trying to escape either. This war was already pre-ordained.

Li Luo walked forward with Jiang Qing'e in tow, looking at Li Jingzhe with great reluctance. He had thought that there would be some time to settle down once the situation in the Xia Kingdom was resolved, but who could have guessed that the prelude to the Origin Reversion War would begin, plunging the world into greater discord. Even Li Jingzhe would have to head to the Nobles' Battlefield.

He looked at the duo with a warm gaze as his words contained a deeper meaning.

Li Luo's heart moved when he understood that Heavenly Emperor Jiang was hinting at something.
