Chapter 1814: Icefall

The Dark Sect Master stood tall in the sky with a look of surprise on her face as she studied her hand. She was very clear on the source of her current body, but she was under the assumption that she had completely wiped it clean from any remnant will. She was extremely confident of that fact. After all, no matter how resilient that remaining strand of will was, it was akin to a puny ant before complete and absolute power.

However, just as she had planned to completely obliterate every trace of Li Luo, preventing him from resurrecting again, that hand had shifted just a tiny bit. Although Li Luo did end up being critically injured, the sensation of losing control of her own limb, albeit an almost insignificant amount, caused the smile on the Dark Sect Master's face to freeze, and her gaze turned icy.

"No one can stop me from doing what I want," she said as she stretched out her finger, causing a wisp of extinction energy to shoot out. It pierced through the layers of the void, straight towards what remained of Li Luo. Clearly, she wished to extinguish any chance for Li Luo to resurrect, annihilating all traces of his Authority.

The Heavenly Emperors who were witnessing this looked as though their eyes were about to bulge out of their sockets as they roared with all their might, attempting to intervene. However, their assistance was easily blocked by the Dark Sect Master.

Li Luo's floating head stared blankly at the strand of extinction energy descending from the sky. He was at his weakest point and had no possible way to resist. The incoming attack contained tenth-grade resonant power, so it was impossible for ordinary Heavenly Emperors to stop it. Was this the day he would finally fall?

As the strand of energy closed in on Li Luo, the shocking cry of a phoenix suddenly echoed through the sky, filled with a frigid aura that could freeze the world.

Boundless waves of ice Authority weaved across the horizon as an Ice Luan with a body akin to crystal was shooting over. A Genesis Seed was burning on its forehead, releasing tremendous amounts of ice Authority.

When Li Luo saw the Ice Luan, his mind trembled, as he could sense familiar fluctuations coming from it. It was Lu Qing'er, and she had chosen to ignite her Genesis Seed!

The blood vessels in his eyes began to bulge violently. He knew what she was planning to do—she would take all of the power of the ignited Genesis Seed and launch a final pyrrhic attack with all of her strength.

"Qing'er!" Li Luo cried out in agony.

Lu Qing'er, who had transformed into the Ice Luan, turned her head slightly and looked at him with her phoenix-like eyes. The icy indifference was gone, replaced with a spirited liveliness. The vivacious and lively lady from the past had returned. However, she didn't utter a single word as she decisively used her Genesis Seed as fuel, causing incredible amounts of icy flames to enshroud her as she collided with the extinction energy.

Bang!

The firmament was torn apart at that instant. Even though she had sacrificed everything she had, her body was swiftly eroded by the tenth-grade extinction resonant power. Moments later, the Ice Luan vanished from the face of the earth, leaving behind only a faint regretful sigh that faded with the cold winds.

Lu Qing'er's all-out sacrifice was actually enough to counteract and dispel the strand of extinction energy. This had thus won Li Luo a brief moment of respite. Unfortunately, the price was equally grave—her Authority and body had been completely obliterated by the extinction energy and there was now no chance for her to resurrect anymore.

"Qing'er!" Lu Sui and Yu Hongxi screamed desperately in another continent, their eyes red with grief. The sight of their own daughter perishing before their eyes was heart-rending.

The Heavenly Emperors were also filled with sorrow. This battle had been far more cruel than anyone had ever expected. The Dark Sect Master was simply too domineering, suppressing all of the divine continents so thoroughly that no one could breathe. They had no idea how they could possibly win.

Meanwhile, the Dark Sect Master emotionlessly observed her surroundings, where snow began to fall endlessly. Feeling her will being constantly thwarted had thoroughly enraged her. She then glared icily at Li Luo's head as she indifferently commented, "Have I really failed to kill you again? I just want to see how many people are willing to give up their lives to save you."

She once again stretched out her hand, and black light condensed within her palm. This new attack gave off terrifying fluctuations, once again containing tenth-grade resonant power that no ordinary Authority could deal with.

Then she lightly pressed her palm down, and the layers of the void around her shattered. Boundless extinction energy swept out this time, far exceeding the casual strand from before, containing horrifying power that blasted towards Li Luo. No one could save him this time.

Li Luo powerlessly watched the descending black light. He could smell death approaching him. All of his tricks and techniques were powerless before the absolute might of the quasi tenth-grade extinction resonant power.

The wave of destructive black light arrived before him in an instant. Just as he was about to summon up whatever remaining scraps of power he had in a last-ditch attempt to protect himself, the void around him collapsed. Divine light energy surged out of the void, transforming into a sacred lotus that wrapped around him.

"Sister Qing'e?" he uttered.

Feeling the familiar sacred power surprised him. He was not surprised at the fact that Jiang Qing'e was intervening at such a critical moment, but at the fact that he could sense that her divine power contained a mix of ancient corruption power. The opposing energies had been fused together, transforming into a unique sanctuary that kept him alive.

Weng!

The black and golden lotus resisted the extinction energy completely, like an impenetrable shield. This sudden development left everyone baffled.

The Dark Sect Master was no exception. Her expression changed, and she turned towards another location in the sky. That was where the Divine Devil Chains were keeping Jiang Qing'e trapped.

The thorns on the chains had pierced into Jiang Qing'e's body, ravenously devouring her light resonant power and suppressing her. Her ponytail had become undone and her long hair was now hanging loosely over her shoulders.

She had personally witnessed the Dark Sect Master smashing the majority of his body into dust, leaving behind only his head. She felt as though her heart had stopped beating at that moment. If not for the fact that Heavenly Emperors possessed tenacious vitality, he would have died by now. All of the fear and murderous intent that had been hidden in the depths of her heart poured out madly.

"Li Luo..." she muttered.

Jiang Qing'e's hands were tightly clenched, and now there was a sinister black coloration emerging from the depths of her right pupil, tainting her golden eyes. Gradually, the black coloration began to spread, causing the right eye to turn as black as ink. At the same time, half of her twelve wings of light were stained a midnight black, turning them half black and half white. It was as though a sacred goddess and a devil were now coexisting in one body.

The sudden change shocked all of the living creatures in the world. Even Heavenly Emperor Jiang and the rest were taken aback. This was because they could sense an ancient aura of corruption emanating from her. The sensation was incredibly primordial, as though she was the source of all corruption. It was the Origin of Absolute Corruption!

Everyone's hearts were flooded with tumultuous emotions as they could barely believe what they were seeing. They couldn't believe that Jiang Qing'e, the paragon of light, actually contained the power of the Origin of Absolute Corruption.

Even the Dark Sect Master was surprised, as she could feel familiar undulations of corruption coming from Jiang Qing'e. She said, "I knew that the Origin of Absolute Corruption left behind a portion of its strength all those years ago. However, I was unable to locate it. I assumed it had faded away with the passage of time, but it was actually concealed in the most unexpected of locations.

"The source of light has kept the absolute darkness hidden with its overwhelming brightness. Only when your emotions are triggered at their highest intensity does the darkness awaken. I truly never thought that those two undying fellows would end up working together to leave behind this final card to block me. However..."

The Dark Sect Master's expression shifted into a mocking smile.

"In that case, doesn't this mean that the Goddess of Light, the protector of the people of the world, is similar to me? Why don't we join hands and build a new world? What do you think?"
