Chapter 933: Ereval, The Logic Demon (II)
The sight of the being before him made Ryuk pause in his tracks.
She did not look anything like a Knull, but he knew better.
That feeling of familiarity from her, a body part of his calling to him from her.
It was clear she was one of the Calamities.
"So you’re the one I was asked to run from?"
The woman asked, a smile on her lips.
As much as Ryuk wanted to throw a fist, he paused.
He did not get a battle threat from this woman, unlike the others.
Instead, she reminded him of the 6th Calamity, Marionette, who never fought him.
"Come closer," she said, ushering her hands to her side, and Ryuk calmly hovered forward.
"In a way," Ereval said, turning to the chaotic zone of reality before her.
"I have never been excited or afraid by things which I understand," she began, her words ringing clearly through the Void.
"Knull is slowly panicking."
"He thinks you’re a crisis that should be temporarily evaded and ultimately destroyed."
"I cannot feel that panic, because the logic behind your actions is so clear."
"If anyone else were in your shoes, they would have done the same thing, though I presume many would have backed off and let it go, based on the fact they’re fighting against us... Knulls
," she said."But under the condition that they had enough power and drive, most would."
"It’s perfectly logical."
"Do you think it’s logical?" Ryuk quietly asked as she turned to him.
"What is?"
"To have an infant ripped apart limb by limb and each limb bestowed upon a certain group in a race."
"Is it logical?" Ryuk asked, watching a silent gleam cross her eyes before she turned back to the Coliondo Verse.
"The simplest answer to that is a yes... and a no."
"Yes?" Ryuk asked.
"Logic itself is predetermined by the conditions that shape it." She said, continuing further to explain
"When Theth’Vorgtah fell out with Knull, Knull panicked, and his panicking wasn’t for naught."
"Theth’Vorgtah is not a being that loses control, and all you do is sit and shrug at it."
"So he imprisoned him."
"The Daughter of Vel’Zhyraka led the dragons to wage war for her love, and nobody had any idea what happened to them after."
"Perhaps, only Knull would."
"But the question is:
"Would it be logical to leave you, the son of both of them, alone?" she asked.
"It’s obviously not."
"Because one day, you will wish to know what truly happened to the daughter of Vel’Zhyrkaa or try to break Theth’Vorgtah from imprisonment."
"In that case, the most logical thing to do was to kill you to leave the past buried."
"But killing you would be a waste. You possess too rare a bloodline to be simply extinguished."
"So, you were torn apart, limb by limb, to further strengthen the Knullic race."
"All of these actions were absolutely logical from the viewpoint of, not only Knull himself, but of anyone in a position of power."
She explained, and Ryuk couldn’t argue that.
"But it’s also illogical, in the sense that if every kid in the universe were ripped apart limb by limb at infancy, then no kid would ever be complete."
"To even think of a world where that happens to all infants, one can already sense how ridiculous and illogical that is."
"So... no."
"If the conditions of burying the past were removed, then it is deeply illogical, ridiculous, even," she answered, and once more, there wasn’t anything Ryuk could debate.
Her logic was sound enough.
"But..." she suddenly said as he turned to her, and she also turned to him, and they both looked into each other’s eyes.
"It doesn’t all make much sense, does it?"
She said, and his brows creased.
"What doesn’t?"
"Logic," she answered, and Ryuk watched as she extended her hands towards the chaotic reality before them.
"Out of all the most mysterious places I have seen and tried to decipher, Coliondo Verse has to be the most complex."
"It’s a place so deeply illogical. Time, gravity, space, everything there feels wrong," she whispered.
The next instant, Ryuk saw a liquid-like stream gush over her fingers and surge forward.
They were like runes of water, constantly shifting within the silver liquid, and as they passed through the zone, he watched them begin to change.
The collapsing black holes halted in their places before they were slowly extinguished.
The irregular time with its undefined timeline was retracted, being forced back to normal.
A minute.
All it took was a minute, and the chaotic reality was no more.
Instead, it was a simple black Void, just like the one they both were in.
"The Coliondo Verse is no more," Void mused from Ryuk’s shoulders, eyes bulging in shock.
Everyone knew what the Coliondo Verse was.
It was a popular place where reality was at its messiest, yet it had just been healed right before him.
When the Void returned, Ereval took her hands back, turning to Ryuk, and she asked,
"Do you understand?" She asked, watching as his brows creased deeply in thought, before a flicker of light crossed his eyes, leaving him dumbfounded.
He turned to her, whispering in realization.
"With enough power, even that which is deeply illogical can be made..."
"Logical."
She completed, a sweet and somewhat proud smile on her lips due to his answer.
"Power," Ryuk whispered.
"If there’s anything in the world worthy of being studied, it should be power, for it changes and influences everything."
"With enough power, you twist reality to your wildest fantasy, and it will become the new reality...the new logic."
"How I wish I could understand it," she mused, and in the next moment...
Ryuk turned back to her, watching her forehead suddenly start to glow.
In the next moment, a line appeared across her forehead, and then her skull opened, revealing a brilliant gem of golden light.
Her hands reached up, and she brought out what ought to be her brain.
The sight of it made Ryuk’s eyes shine brilliantly as he finally realized
"This was what the 2nd Calamity had:
"His brain."
