Chapter 966: The Trivy League (I)
Chapter 966: The Trivy League (I)
The answer to joining the Three Supreme Races lies in the Trivy League:
A competition held once every hundred years, where the greatest talents of the most supreme races in the Upper Realm gathered to compete.
Afterward, they could earn the approval of those from the Three Supreme Races, who would then take them in for further training.
Only the most prodigious of geniuses were chosen, and the way to enter the competition wasn’t fixed.
There was a seal card called the Trivy Card, already given to some powerful families in the Upper Realm, which they could bestow upon their students or other races they found appealing.
Some of the geniuses in these families already held the card.
Seizing the card from a genius who already held it was one way to join the competition.
The Trivy League didn’t exactly care who held the card, only who brought it to them before the Final Phase of the competition started.
It was the most suitable way for Ryuk to enter the competition without giving the impression he was there to spy, particularly since others like him would also be allowed in.
And thankfully, only two months were left before the Final Phase of the competition began.
Though in those two months, he still had to find a way to get the Trivy Card, and to do that, he needed to leave the Stellis Clan.
He closed his eyes once more, sinking deep within himself, and when he opened them again, he was standing before the humongous body of his draconic form.
His hands reached out, landing on its snout as their heartbeats resonated.
He made sure not to resonate fully, stopping when one of its eyes opened.
"I need two clones."
He said this quietly, and in the next moment, light spilled from the dragon’s eyes, rapidly coalescing together.
In less than ten seconds, two more Ryuks stood before him, both in basic humanoid form.
With that done, he sank back into his consciousness, and when he opened his eyes, he was back in Aster’s room.
Except now, two more of himself stood in the room.
One of them gently moved, taking his position on the bed, while the true Ryuk slipped away.
Aster was never disturbed from her sleep.
Ryuk stood, the other clone waiting beside him.
He crawled to the bed, giving her one last kiss on her forehead that made her smile in her sleep.
"Goodbye now," he whispered before turning to the window, fading from the room along with the other clone.
When they reached the purple sky of the Stellis Clan, he turned to the clone beside him.
"Return to Ammamora..."
Without a word, it silently turned back and became a beam of light flashing into the distance.
Each of these clones held enough of his real consciousness, enough to act and react exactly as he would.
He could also share their sight, observe through them, or talk through them, though that wouldn’t be needed since they shared his consciousness.
They would react and talk as the original him would.
Just like the system had said, there was no need to dilly-dally and spend years here if he was already done.
So he had ordered one clone to return to Ammamora, while the other remained with Asteralaxia.
Their relationship had only just started, and he felt it was wrong to disappear after only a week with her.
That was why he left a part of himself with her.
One realization dawned upon him as he stood atop a rooftop in the Stellis Clan:
"My mission in the upper realm is done..."
Ever since he could remember, he had always been reacting to things.
His fight with Zar’kul and Morn happened because of Uncle Bob’s death.
It wasn’t a choice; he simply had to fight.
And fighting the rest of the Knull Calamities wasn’t really a choice for him, either.
Otherwise, they would have killed and ripped him apart.
Every one of his battles had been chosen for him.
But this was the end of that.
Now, he was walking this journey because he chose to.
To see for himself where the peak of power lay so he could bring some sanity to this mad world.
He wasn’t forced to take this path.
He could return to Ammamora with Aster, and they would live their lives undisturbed by anything or anyone.
Unless it was the supreme races, he doubted anything could be a real threat to him right now.
He would be absolutely comfortable wherever he chose to stay now, but he had still chosen this.
And that feeling...
For the first time in his life, he was doing something not because he had no choice, but because he wanted
to.It gave rise to a quiet, unfamiliar sensation inside him.
One he could feel when he placed his hand on his chest, yet couldn’t put into words.
He remained on the rooftop in quiet stillness for a moment before turning to look behind him.
Floating silently in the purple sky was a being who seemed to merge with it.
A lady with a star-like body.
"Lord Stella..."
He watched her hover forward until she landed on the building beside him.
Two of her upper eyes opened, settling on him.
She glanced toward Aster, noticing his other clone, and then turned her gaze back to him.
"You’re leaving..." she said.
He nodded.
"In a way."
"Do you plan to join the Trivy League?"
She asked the question calmly.
He wasn’t surprised that she knew.
He had sensed her presence around him for the past week while he read the manuals in the library, seemingly keeping an eye on his every move, though he had acted as if he didn’t notice.
"I do."
