Chapter 1871: Battle At The Passage

“How?”

Not just the Gnomes, even the Eighth stage Sovereign who Klaus just helped was shocked by Klaus’ display of power.

He ambushed a Seventh stage Sovereign Puppet that was fighting with one of his companions who was a Seventh stage Sovereign, and other than destroying parts of its body, he was not able to take it out, even with help. Klaus, on the other hand, was the one who was ambushed by a Seventh stage Sovereign Puppet while facing off three other Puppets of the same strength. Not only did Klaus not escape unscathed, he even managed to kill the Puppet that ambushed him while at it.

The Gnome whose Puppet was destroyed could not believe what just happened. The Puppet just ripped a Sixth stage Sovereign apart, and in barely two seconds after that, his Puppet was not only frozen solid, but it was also destroyed.

The three Gnomes made their Puppets retreat as they did not expect Klaus to be this powerful.

Klaus took advantage of the opportunity, and an thin ice needle that he had been preparing shot straight for one of the three Gnomes who still had a Seventh stage Puppet. The Gnome did not sense the attack in time, and it was only when it got within two meters of it did it sense it. Reacting hastily, he dodged to the side as he saw that it was aimed at his chest. Moving to the side, the needle grazed his arm.

The Gnome did not have the time to heave a sigh of relief as he felt his entire body go numb and starting to freeze from the inside out. He hurriedly tried to move his essence in hopes of getting it to block this powerful freezing energy, but he was not able to stop it as his arm started to freeze. Gritting his teeth, he cut off his arm in a bid to stop the freezing which was spreading like poison.

The Gnome placed his Puppet between him and Klaus as he looked at the latter with fear. If not for his decisiveness, he would have most likely lost his life, turning into an ice sculpture.

The other two Gnomes whose Seventh stage Puppets were blocked by Klaus felt fear and relief. Fear for how powerful Klaus’ technique was, and relief that they were not the ones who faced such a powerful attack.

Klaus did not continue his assault, he knew that they would not give him the chance to launch any more sneak attacks, taking this opportunity to look at the Gnomes, he realized that he surprisingly recognized a few of the Gnomes. Especially those in the Early stages of the Sovereign Plane. These were the ones he had multiple dealings with while in the Gnome World. Fortunately the Gnomes that could recognize him were too busy at the moment.

The Eighth stage Sovereign did not stop his attacks even though he was shocked by Klaus, his companions were still heavily outnumbered and more of his people were sustaining greater injuries. Klaus single-handedly stopping four Gnomes and their Seventh stage Puppets the moment he arrived took off most of the pressure on the shoulders of the humans present, especially the few in the Late stages of the Sovereign Plane. Without these Gnomes, the scale of the battle swiftly took a turn.

The four Gnomes noticed the sudden change, but there was nothing they could do. In front of them was Klaus, dressed in his spotless silver robes staring at them like his prey. He had only arrived on the scene in a little over a minute, but he had instantly changed the tides of the fight.

“He’s just one man, we can kill him.” One of the Gnomes said. The others turned to look at him, all staring at the missing arm. Noticing the gazes of his companions, the Gnome’s voice turned cold as he said, pointing at the shattered ice pieces of the Puppet Klaus destroyed, “You can all see how powerful he is, if you give him more time, then we will all end up like that.”

The Gnomes looked at the destroyed Puppet and could not help but feel a slight fear. Klaus’ ice ability is stronger than any Elementalist they have ever faced that could manipulate ice. The fact that he could almost instantly turn something as powerful as a Seventh stage Puppet into a block of ice showed just how frighteningly cold the chill he could release was.

“Help the others, we will deal with him.” The Gnome who lost an arm to Klaus’ attack said to the Gnome whose Puppet was destroyed by Klaus. Although the overall strength of the Gnome reduced with the destruction of his Puppet, he was still a Sixth stage Sovereign.

The Gnome looked at Klaus with hate filled eyes before saying, “Please don’t destroy his body. He destroyed my Puppet, and since his cultivation is the same as it, I will use him as replacement.”

After saying this, the Gnome rushed to the aid of the other Gnomes. The three Gnomes here did not agree to his request, it was unknown who would eventually get Klaus’ remains if they are able to successfully kill him.

Klaus did not try to stop the Gnome from leaving. Three Gnomes were already enough, and it was thanks to the element of surprise he was able to instantly take out one of the Puppets almost as soon as he arrived. Now that the Gnomes were wary of his strength, they would not want to be caught by surprise again.

“Human boy, you look quite familiar.” One of the Gnomes said with his hand rubbing his chin.

Klaus looked at the Gnome, but he did not recognize him. He knew that some more powerful Gnomes would most likely have observed him during his stay at the Capital City back in the Gnome World, after all, he was regarded as a top genius there due to his young age and high cultivation.
