Chapter 1930: Changing Opponents Mid-battle
Somewhere in the Aurora Continent.
In a dense forest, a group of Gnomes could be seen speaking with each other, a portal larger than the one Grey and Void just destroyed could be seen behind them.
A Gnome stepped out of the portal and walked over to the group of Gnomes.
“The other portal was discovered.” The Gnome said as he got close to the other Gnomes.
“How’s that possible?” One of the Gnomes asked in shock. They were very careful with the news of these two portals, ensuring only the high ranking members of the Gnome Race knew of their existence, so how could the other portal that was even more secretive discovered first?
“No one knows, but the portal was destroyed and not even sealed. The Humans must have found it early on and acted like they were oblivious so as to draw in more Elders and Family Heads.” The newly arrived Gnome speculated, they did not know what the details were on the other side, after receiving the news they were being attacked, it did not take long after they sent out help before they noticed the portal had been destroyed.
“What now?” One of the Gnomes asked with a gloomy expression, before adding, “We have already started things here, there is no way we can stop now.”
The new Gnome nodded and said, “The Emperor is aware, he said we should hasten things, hence the reason I was sent here.”
“Oh, since that’s the case, then what are we waiting for?”
Fights soon broke out in different places in the Aurora Continent as the Gnomes were finally making a move, they needed to open the sealed portal in the depths of the Magical Beast’s Forest in the Azure Continent. Unfortunately, they did not have the sufficient force to do this, until now.
The Necromancers that had blended into the top Factions soon started to show their hands, killing as many top experts as they could before fleeing.
The entire Aurora Continent was soon thrown into chaos as there were battles taking place in different places almost at the same time, making it difficult for anyone to render help to others as they had troubles of their own. The top Families were the ones with fewer betrayers, and this could not be helped. Unlike Factions that recruit people from all over the world, these top Families were very compact and most of their powerhouses were born in the Family, making it hard for them to want to betray them contrary to the experts in top Factions that do not always have a sense of belonging.
While the Aurora Continent was thrown into chaos, the Azure Continent was no better.
The impact from the battle Grey’s group was having with the Gnomes had flattened the forest and even a City a couple of kilometers away was evacuating as the impact of the battle got stronger and stronger.
….
On the battlefield.
Grey was sent crashing, slamming into the ground, before bouncing off a couple of times, readjusting himself mid-air during the last bounce, he landed on his feet, staring at the Gnome who was already sending out multiple attacks.
In an open space, the power the Gnome was using now was around fifteen percent stronger than what he used while they were underground, this goes to show that the Gnome was not using his full strength, probably for fear of impacting the portal. Now that he did not have to worry about that, the Gnome wanted to use Grey’s blood to wash away the humiliation he was feeling.
Grey could sense the wave of killing intent directed at him, and he knew the Gnome would not think twice about killing him.
‘Damm it! This guy is strong!’ He could not help but admit. Now that he was facing the Gnome in full strength, he realized that he was stronger than the average Peak Sovereign, now he understood why the Gnome was tasked with guarding the portal rather than fighting here. The other Gnomes would have definitely felt he would be able to protect it, if not for the Gnome’s miscalculations allowing Grey and Void the chance to destroy the portal, then he would have been able to protect the portal. He underestimated Grey, and paid for it.
‘Void!’
‘On it.’
Void arrived in front of Grey, and just as the attacks were about to hit, multiple spiraling vortexes giving off strong spatial fluctuations appeared around Void and Grey, swallowing the attacks of the Gnome, before sending them back at the Gnome.
This was one of Void’s innate abilities, taking the attacks of his opponents and sending them back.
The Gnome was once again forced to take his own attacks, giving Void hateful glares. He found Void even more troublesome to deal with, no matter how he tried to seal the space in this area, Void could still manage to employ his space element, unlike Grey.
As he was dealing with the attacks sent his way, he sensed a wave of powerful energy gathering above him, raising his head, he noticed inscriptions appearing above him. He stretched out an arm and slowly clenched it, and it was as if an invisible hand grabbed the forming inscriptions, squeezing them. The inscriptions did not even get the chance to fully form before they shattered.
Grey grunted at the sight of this, the ground the Gnome was standing on turned muddy, making him sink down.
The Gnome did not expect this, caught by surprise, he did not panic, keeping track of Grey’s movements, a tornado wrapped around him, blowing away the mud holding him as he slowly lifted into the air, locking eyes with Grey, to his surprise, he could not find him in the same position. There was a person there, but the person was not Grey, rather, it was Klaus who sent a thin ice needle at him. The needle moved at breakneck speed, piercing through the tornado protecting the Gnome.
“Huh?”
The Gnome was taken aback at the sudden change of his opponent. He was not the only one left in this shocked state, Klaus’ opponent who was a Ninth stage Sovereign was dumbstruck when Grey suddenly appeared before him, striking without saying a word.
