Chapter 1936: Reflecting
Chapter 1936: Reflecting
Grey, Klaus, and Chris returned to the battlefield, seeing the destruction, they shivered at the thought of what the world would turn into if the Gnomes invaded in large groups. This was just the battlefield from a couple of Peak Sovereigns and some Ninth and Eighth stage Sovereigns, they could not even imagine the destruction that would happen if the number of fighters was in the hundreds or even thousands.
The fact that their world was the battlefield annoyed them as they knew the losses and destruction would be on another level.
When they returned to the battlefield, they could still feel the shockwaves from the battle of the Half God Plane experts. Their battle had not come to an end yet, but the outcome was not hard to guess; with two Half God Gnomes dead, the other three would not be able to survive the onslaught of the seven Half God Elementalists that came with Grey’s group.
Twenty minutes later, the shockwaves coming from the sky died down, along with the fall of the last surviving Half God Plane Gnome. The body of the Gnome crashed into the ground, creating a deep crevice.
The Half God Plane experts flew down after taking out the last Gnome, and the sight of them took Grey and the others by surprise. All seven Half God Plane Elementalist were injured, although some were barely noticeable, it was still there. Everyone sucked in a deep breath, curious about what happened in the sky. Of the seven Half God Plane experts, one of them had an aura of death lingering around him, it was as if he was going to die any minute from now. Not just that, he lost one of his hands, while he was pale in complexion. This was not the state of the expert when they came here, so his current appearance is as a result of the battle.
“We should head back.” The Old Man acquainted with the Bunny Leader said, not sparing them a glance as he led the group of Half God Plane experts away from the battlefield.
The corpses of the dead Peak Human Sovereigns were collected to ensure the Gnomes would not be able to turn them into Puppets later on. They also destroyed the corpses of all the Gnomes, including the Half God Plane Gnomes. After completing this, they followed behind the Half God Plane experts.
The entire battle took a little over an hour or so, and everyone involved in the battle was exhausted. On the way back, Grey asked about Luthera’s whereabouts from Klaus, after all, they left Red City together with Void.
Klaus naturally did not forget about his wife, telling Grey they would meet her on the way. Just as Klaus said, they met Luthera about thirty kilometers away from the battlefield, luckily, their return path coincided with where Luthera was hiding, so it was easy for them to pick her up.
….
Red City.
Martha was still in a state of cultivation with Lucas constantly watching over her. This was the reason he did not step out with the others, even though he wanted to keep Grey safe, he still felt his wife needed him more now.
When the group returned, seeing the state of some of the Half God Plane experts as well as the lesser number of people that returned, he realized things must have not gone to plan. When he heard five Half God Plane Gnomes had already snuck into the Azure Continent through the portal, a look of shock appeared on his face. It had only been a few days since Grey got the information about the portal, yet five Half God Plane Gnomes had already crossed through. If they delayed any longer, the consequences might have been dire and the chances of this entire group being wiped out was a true possibility.
Alice and Reynolds were still preoccupied with breaking through to the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane, so when Grey and Klaus returned, they did not find the shadow of either of the duo.
Chris did not return with them, saying he was heading back to the Trial Land to recuperate. Apparently, he felt safer healing there and according to him, there was something there to help quicken his healing process. Grey did not have any issues with this, as long as his Teacher returned to peak condition, then he was satisfied wherever he went for his healing.
Grey went to check on his mother after returning, seeing that she was still engrossed in cultivating, he checked the condition of the array formations he set up before leaving. The fight with the Old Gnome and the other injured Peak Sovereign Gnome showed him that he was still lacking in strength. Although he was able to exchange blows with them and even managed to stop the injured Gnome from leaving, it was all thanks to a few things. Inside the confined space, due to fear of causing any disruptions to the portal, the Old Gnome did not go all out, giving Grey and Void the chance to destroy the portal. When he faced the Old Gnome in an open space, he noticed the disparity in strength and focused on helping out his companions. In the end, he realized in his current state, he could not defeat a Peak Sovereign one on one.
A Ninth stage Sovereign might not be too much work for him, Peak Sovereigns were another story.
‘I still need to grow stronger.’
This was what his reflection ended with, the desire to grow stronger. Any mishaps during the battle against either of the two Peak Sovereign Gnomes, would have ended his life. His impressive battle IQ and multiple elements at his beck and call were the only reasons he is still standing alive and he knew that. His physique also helped when fighting with the Old Gnome in the confined space.
He focused on reflecting on the battle and thinking of how he could grow stronger while everyone separated, the impact of the deaths and injuries from this expedition affected most of the people present.
