Chapter 1958: Unrealistic Situation
Chapter 1958: Unrealistic Situation
Grey and the others could not involve themselves with the battle with the Half God Plane experts’ battlefield, they were focused on the task at hand, which was surviving their current opponents. Grey’s act of moving around the battlefield might look very easy, in truth it was not. One mistake and he would not only lose his life, the others would be thrown into chaos as well. His presence is the only reason the Gnomes were not making use of their Puppets, their greatest tool in battle. Without it, although they were still fierce, they were not as threatening as when their Puppets were present.
If Grey leaves the battlefield, these Gnomes would all take out their Puppets and make the lives of those from True Dawn harder.
Grey was moving across the battlefield in shocking speed, helping whoever he could, while also making sure he was not caught by the Peak Sovereign Gnome chasing after him.
It has been more than forty minutes since they came here, and this Peak Sovereign Gnome has been chasing him around half that time. Any other Eighth stage Sovereign would have been captured by now. Grey’s space element, lightning element, and even wind element has been key to escaping this Peak Sovereign Gnome. He had been trapped in the Gnome’s sealed range a couple of times after the first time. Each time he gets caught in it, his lightning and wind element would come into play, giving him the chance to escape the Gnome’s attacks.
On the battlefield, there is no one who is as frustrated as this Gnome. His job was relatively the easiest, yet he found it seemingly impossible to keep Grey in check. He was already getting looks of annoyance from some Ninth stage Sovereign Gnomes Grey has interfered with their matches. The situation was even worse with the Peak Sovereigns who actively cursed out at him. If he had known this would be the case, he would have never taken the item that could seal space. He never even imagined he would have any use for it. The moment he laid his eyes on Grey, he was consumed by greed and he told the others he would deal with Grey. The rewards promised by the Emperor of the Gnome Race was enough for him to make an attempt at the Half God Plane.
Every Peak Sovereign’s dream was to naturally break through to the Half God Plane, especially those as old as he was. Now, he was starting to regret that decision. He had watched Grey kill three Ninth stage Sovereigns since he started the chase. This was excluding the ones Grey had killed before he started the hunt. He was blown away by Grey’s abilities and genuinely felt amazed by him. If not for the fact that they were enemies, he would not mind taking someone like this under his wings. It was a shame they were from opposing Races and Grey was not a Necromancer.
Grey felt annoyed by the chase, luckily, he was very fast. Although he was quite embarrassed by this, one of his abilities he felt confident in was his ability to run away. He could not even count how many times he has been in this position, and every time, he makes it out one way or the other. Having so many elements at his disposal made it convenient to escape most people with superior cultivation stages. Faced with a Gnome whose primary element was the darkness element, he was even more confident he could escape from him.
Five more minutes went by with the Gnome still chasing after him, only this time, the Gnome was not showing frustration, rather, his facial expression displayed worry. The reason for that was simple, his people were losing, quite bad to say the least.
When Grey and his group arrived, the Gnomes could still fight back and it was generally one against one most of the time. In fact, the Gnomes still had the number advantage at the time. The past ten minutes have changed that with Grey and his friends killing more Gnomes in the Late stages. Furthermore, no Human has lost their lives during this time period.
Realistically speaking, this should be impossible since both parties were fighting and there was no definitive stronger side. Yet, it was happening to the Gnomes in a battle they previously had full control over.
How could something like this happen?
The Peak Sovereign Gnome was not the only one asking this question, the Half God Plane Gnomes as well as the few weaker ones in the Late stages who were still alive all had this question in their heads. There were no Venerables in this battlefield, only Sovereigns. At the start, the Gnomes killed some Sovereigns, including two at the Peak and five Ninth stage Sovereigns. Now, they have lost at least five times that number. Other than the four Peak Sovereigns the Half God Plane experts helped Grey kill, one more Peak Sovereign has fallen. The Ninth stage Sovereigns were even worse, falling like weeds under the hands of Chris in particular.
Chris’s light element was a natural counter to the Gnomes’ darkness element, whenever he had the chance to deal a fatal strike to any unsuspecting Gnome, he always took the chance. The only time his golden flash is seen was when he was racing to save someone in a tight spot.
The Gnomes could not understand how everything could change in a short ten minutes.
‘I need to escape.’
The Peak Sovereign Gnome thought to himself. He could already see their defeat, if he stayed here any further, he would lose his life, along with his companions. There was no disgrace in escaping, as long as he left with his life. As he chased after Grey, he searched for the opportunity he needed to escape.
This opportunity came in a matter of seconds when a large explosion rang out from deep within True Dawn’s main buildings which were over a hundred kilometers away.
