Chapter 1985: Clash

On the Gnome’s camp site.

The two Ninth stage Sovereign Gnomes who were dressed in silver and black robes were having a casual conversation in their tent when a Gnome rushed over into the tent.

The Ninth stage Sovereign Gnome dressed in black glanced coldly at the Gnome who was kneeling, “You better have a good excuse.”

The Gnome shivered when he heard this but hurriedly reported, “The Humans are marching over.”

“Looks like the last defeat messed up that Old Man’s brain.” The silver robbed Ninth stage Sovereign Gnome snickered.

The black robbed Ninth stage Sovereign who spoke first noticed the Gnome’s anxious look, he asked with furrowed brows, “Why are you agitated?”

“They have received reinforcements.” The Gnome reported, his head still bowed.

“Humph! This is not the first time they are having reinforcements, what are you acting worried about?” The black robbed Ninth stage Sovereign Gnome snorted coldly, feeling this Gnome was not fit to be a soldier.

“They have four more Sovereigns.” The Gnome replied fearfully. He was only in the Sage Plane, hearing that the Humans had more Sovereigns, he was naturally afraid he might lose his life in an exchange.

“What?!” The black robbed Ninth stage Sovereign Gnome stood up, showing a baffled expression. The Humans normally did not send in too many people here as most of their Sovereigns are occupied. The northern entrance of the Magical Beast’s Forest is not the only place they had to defend. There were still countless other portals spread across the Continent. The Humans dared not show any form of negligence, something they had been doing over the past few days. Never did he expect the Humans would suddenly send over so many experts here.

Calming down, he asked, “Do you have any idea how strong they are?”

“The Vice General stated all but one is in the Late stages of the Sovereign Plane.” The Gnome reported. As soon as he made the report, he heard the two Sovereigns gulping in shock. He dared not raise his head.

“Prepare the troops, we will make sure they dare not return.” The silver robbed Ninth stage Sovereign snorted coldly. He was the first to regain himself from the shock of the Humans sending over more experts in the Sovereign Plane. The fact that there were even three in the Late stage stupefied them. There was nothing they could do at the moment other than to confront the other party. They had been the ones who had the number advantage in the past battles.

The Gnome saluted before rushing out of the tent to report back to the Vice General.

The two Ninth stage Sovereigns in the tent wore solemn expressions after the Gnome left.

“What could they be up to?” The silver robbed Gnome asked.

“How should I know?” The black robbed Gnome replied in annoyance. They had been having a fairly good time since they were sent here. The black robbed Gnome proceeded to say, “Let’s go out to see what they are up to.”

The silver robbed Gnome did not mind the token of the black robbed Gnome. They had been friends for some time now, and he was used to his short temper. What he cared about right now was how to deal with the Humans. The Peak Sovereign Human has been a thorn on their sides, no matter how they tried, they have not been able to take him down. He survives each attack, even managing to force them to retreat once he notices his soldiers were losing. Since both parties appeared in this battlefield, this was the first time the Humans were taking the initiative to attack, hence the reason the Gnomes felt they were up to something.

This place was not regarded as somewhere important. Although the Humans could pass through this place and head to the other side, the distance was no short. Before they could even get there, the Gnomes on that end would be notified should this place be breached.

The two Gnomes who were regarded as the Commanders of this troop took the lead, leading their troops to block the path of the Humans. Even with the additional two hundred soldiers, the Gnomes still had an overall number advantage by a large number.

Each Gnome gave off a fiendish aura as they stared at the Humans as if they were as good as dead.

On the side of Humans.

The Commander took the lead, with Klaus and the others standing beside him.

Klaus tilted his head to look at the army of the Gnomes, not surprised by their numbers. This was not the first time he was facing an army of Gnomes. Even when he was in the Gnome World, he faced an army of Gnomes, of course, he did not do any fighting then, only putting on an act with Reynolds. Nevertheless, since their visit to the Gnome World, he was well aware of the massive population of the Gnomes. There was no way Humans could produce the same numbers of soldiers.

His gaze did not stay too long on the soldiers, looking up, he noticed there were five Gnomes who stood mid-air, facing them. Of these five Gnomes, only two gave off a dangerous aura. The rest posed zero threat to him. Reynolds and Alice felt the same. Other than Hugh who was a Fourth stage Sovereign, the Commander and the trio were all in the Seventh stage and above.

Klaus’s cold eyes trailed on the body of the Gnomes, wondering which one of them he should pick to fight with.

The Commander turned to the group and said, “I’ll handle those two Ninth stage Sovereigns, I believe you four can deal with the rest.”

Reynolds chuckled and said, “You don’t need to worry about fighting the two at the same time. Just take one of them, we’ll deal with the rest.”

The Commander looked at the trio, “Not that I’m looking down on you three, but those two are fairly powerful. Their Puppets are tricky as well.”

“Don’t worry about us. We have a sense of discretion.” Reynolds did not want to give up on the issue.

If the Commander took the two Ninth stage Sovereigns, they would have no one strong to fight. The other Gnomes in the Sovereign Plane might be strong, but with the three of them here, it would take a short time to deal with them. If they had to deal with one of the Ninth stage Sovereigns as well, then it would be more of a challenge.

Realizing the Commander was not in support of this, Alice spoke up, “You will be able to handle one of them in a short time and can help us then if you think we need it.”

The Commander thought about it and felt Alice’s words were right. If he was facing one of them alone, he was confident in beating him in the shortest time possible. At that time, it would not be too late to come take on the other Ninth stage Sovereign.

“Since you say so, I’ll be counting on you three to hold one of them back.” He nodded to the trio.

The aura coming from all three was not one of an ordinary Seventh stage Sovereign. Being a veteran in battle, he knew they had no problems fighting above their cultivation stages. Klaus’s aura was already bordering the Eighth stage, a sign he is not far from achieving a breakthrough to the next stage.

After dividing the Sovereigns among themselves, they took a step forward.

On the side of the Gnomes.

The silver robbed Gnome’s eyes has been on the four youths. Seeing them discussing, he was curious and sent out his Mental Sense, only to hear them discussing how they would divide and deal with them. Hearing them speak in such a manner, he felt incensed. They were standing right there, yet they were speaking about them as if they were not people.

“Those kids want to deal with either one of us. Kill quickly.” The silver robbed Gnome said to the black robbed Gnome.

The black robbed Gnome also overheard the discussion that took place on the other side, “I was about to say the same to you.”

Both had a cold expression on their faces as the Vice General, the Seventh stage Sovereign, spoke up, “None of these Humans should be allowed to return, even if they return, they should be shaking and traumatized.”

The army beneath them roared after his words, acknowledging their Vice General’s words.

The Vice General was pleased with their reactions, nodding, he bellowed, “Kill!”

“Kill!”

All the Gnomes roared in unison and charged forward.

There was no need for any words on the side of the Humans as their Commander had already given them all the motivation they needed before they left the City.

The Humans below the Sovereign Plane all charged forward, clashing with the Gnomes in the middle of the battlefield.
