Chapter 28
Chapter 28
The chef of the Tan family heard that Song Linchu was going to cook for Tan Yue personally, and thinking that it was a small affectionate gesture between lovers, he didn’t care much about it.
Tan Yue has always been picky about food and several chefs had been replaced at home. It wasn’t until he came that his tastes were satisfied. He had been working in the Tan family for several years and knew that he was very difficult to serve. He didn’t think that Tan Yue could eat what Song Linchu cooked, so he prepared dinner as usual.
The kitchen of the Tan family was spacious, and cooking together with the Tan family’s chef did not affect Song Linchu at all.
Song Linchu initially wanted to persuade him not to cook, but the other party just smiled and said that it was his job, and Song Linchu couldn’t persuade him any further.
Anyway, there were other servants here, so food wouldn’t be wasted.
Song Linchu was making medicinal chicken, which was his specialty dish. It was crucial in nourishing the body, making it very suitable for replenishing Tan Yue’s health.
In the kitchen, there were free-range chickens, big and plump. Song Linchu picked the delicious parts and bones and cooked them slowly with herbs over low heat.
The relatively tough chicken breast was cut into small cubes and stir-fried with soaked dried shiitake mushrooms and perilla leaves in chicken oil. Then, they were mixed with corn kernels, cooked peas, diced carrots, and steamed on top of rice.
The Tan family’s chef was originally cooking his own dish when he suddenly smelled a tempting aroma coming from the steamer. The chef knew it was the aroma of chicken, and he hadn’t cooked any chicken tonight, so it must be Song Linchu’s dish.
At first, the chef didn’t pay much attention, but as the steaming time increased, the aroma became more and more pronounced, and he could no longer ignore it.
This aroma was not natural, was it? Did Song Linchu add some essence?
But he was the one who prepared all the ingredients according to Song Linchu’s requirements, and there was no essence at all!
As the time was about right, Song Linchu opened the lid and added two more medicinal herbs to the medicinal chicken.
At the moment when the lid was lifted, a large amount of aroma mixed with a faint scent of herbs rushed to their noses, making the chef couldn’t help but gulp and swallow saliva.
He really wanted to ask Song Linchu how he did it, but he restrained himself because of Song Linchu’s current identity. While he was still hesitating, Song Linchu went out.
The chef was preparing other dishes, so Song Linchu was happy to only cook chicken and rice, and let them steam slowly until done.
He walked to the living room and asked Butler Liu, “Where did he go, Mr. Liu?”
Butler Liu naturally understood that he was referring to Tan Yue and said, “The master went upstairs to change clothes.”
“Oh.”
Song Linchu picked up his phone and sat down on the sofa. He saw that there was a new friend request on WeChat and when he clicked to see the added person’s information, he was stunned.
Tuantuan?
Wasn’t that kid only four years old? And he could already use WeChat?
Song Linchu thought it was just the same name, but after hesitating for a moment, he still accepted the request.
He was thinking about whether to say hello or not, but Tuantuan sent a voice message first.
Tuantuan asked in a small voice, “Is my uncle there, handsome big brother?”
Song Linchu was amused by his idea that his uncle wouldn’t find out if he spoke quietly. He also sent a voice message back in a low voice, “He’s not here.”
“Oh,” Tuantuan’s voice was noticeably relieved, but he still lowered his voice and said, “Don’t tell him I added you on WeChat, okay?”
Song Linchu’s voice contained a smile, “Okay, this is our little secret.”
Tuantuan was extremely happy and exclaimed, “Big brother, I love you, mwah~”
Song Linchu: “…”
You’re just a child, no need to say “mwah”!
Song Linchu reached for the water glass he was drinking from and took a sip of water. He then clicked on the new voice message sent by Tuantuan.
Tuantuan said, “Big brother, I really like you, will you accept me as your secret lover?”
Song Linchu almost sprayed the water out of his mouth and choked on it. Butler Liu thought something was wrong and came over nervously to inquire. Song Linchu wiped the water off his mouth with a tissue, shook his head, and indicated that he was okay.
No way, this kid was only four years old, where did he learn these words?
Song Linchu immediately thought of Tuantuan’s family. It was also wealthy, and he probably attended some aristocratic school, where most of the children were from rich families.
The rich often keep mistresses, so it’s not surprising that children learn about it.
It’s really a tragedy.
Song Linchu said, “But big brother already has your uncle.”
Tuantuan earnestly replied, “What’s there to fear? Big brother is so handsome, he can have many. The most beautiful girl in our class has seven lovers!”
Song Linchu: “…”
Song Linchu was relieved that he didn’t drink water this time, otherwise he would have sprayed it out.
Damn! These kids are much better at playing than adults.
Look at them, they’re turning kindergarten into a harem.
Song Linchu couldn’t help but ask, “How many lovers do you have?”
“I don’t have any,” Tuantuan’s tone was serious, “I only like my handsome big brother!”
Song Linchu: “……”
This little brat is quite loyal!
Just then, Song Linchu heard some noise coming from the stairs. It should be Tan Yue coming down. He pressed the talk button and whispered, “Your uncle is here.”
Tuantuan was frightened and said in a small, pleading voice, “Then I’ll talk to you next time. Bye-bye, handsome big brother, I’ll miss you!”
Song Linchu closed the chat window with a smile.
Tan Yue is such a straight dog, not as good as his four-and-a-half-year-old nephew at flirting!
Song Linchu put his phone aside, turned around, and was stunned when he saw Tan Yue coming down from upstairs.
Tan Yue was wearing the coat he had bought for him.
His taste was really good. This coat was casual, and it made him lose some of his sharpness. He looked elegant with a touch of casualness. For Song Linchu, it was a slightly mature coat, but it looked just right on him. He looked like a successful boss at first glance.
“Wah, gege, you’re so handsome,” Song Linchu exclaimed, then shamelessly asked, “My fashion sense for buying clothes isn’t bad, right?”
Butler Liu was shocked. All of Tan Yue’s clothes were custom-made, and he hardly ever went outside to buy clothes. There was a side branch of the Tan family that specialized in high-end fashion design but whenever they sent him custom-made clothes, he never wore them.
So it wasn’t that he didn’t like wearing other clothes, but that the person who sent them wasn’t right.
Tan Yue replied, “It’s alright.”
Song Linchu said, “It’s clearly fantastic! You look so handsome, I just want to push you down on the spot!”
Tan Yue: “…”
Tan Yue sat down on the sofa. As if he hadn’t heard Song Linchu’s teasing, he said to Butler Liu, “Have them make a set of clothes for him too. He’ll need it for his birthday banquet on the 23rd.”
“Okay, time is a bit tight. They may have to come and measure him today. Is that okay?” Butler Liu asked.
Tan Yue nodded.
Song Linchu felt that it was too much trouble. “No need to bother. I’ll just wear the set from New Year’s Day. I don’t have many opportunities to wear formal attire anyway. We don’t need to make so many.”
He was still a student, and he had no chance to wear formal attire.
Maybe he’ll wear it for an interview later, but that’s something for the future.
Tan Yue said, “It’s customary to wear new clothes for one’s birthday.”
Butler Liu: “…”
‘Is that so? Why haven’t I heard of this custom?’
Why was his master so thick skinned today?
“Is that how it is? Okay then.” Song Linchu didn’t want to argue since it was a custom. “I’ll go check if the chicken is ready!”
Song Linchu walked into the kitchen, uncovered the steaming hot steamer, and found that the rice was already cooked. As soon as he lifted the lid, a strong aroma of rice mixed with the fragrance of perilla leaves wafted into his nose.
He took the rice out of the steamer and went to check on the chicken. The chicken had to be stewed for an additional 40 minutes, and now it was already very tender. The chicken skin was golden yellow, and with a slight touch of chopsticks, the chicken meat fell off the bone.
Satisfied, Song Linchu took out the chicken from the steamer and added some salt. As he was about to sprinkle some chopped scallions and a few drops of tea oil on it, the chef from the Tan family approached him.
He rubbed his hands awkwardly and hesitated to speak for a while before finally mustering up the courage to ask, “Little Lin, can I have a bowl of chicken soup, just a small one?”
As a chef who had cooked and tasted countless delicious dishes, he wasn’t really craving for just a taste. Okay, maybe just a tiny bit. He simply wanted to take the opportunity to figure out Song Linchu’s recipe and ingredients for this chicken, so that he could try making it himself later.
With his years of experience, he was sure that if he could replicate this medicated chicken, it would become a popular dish.
Song Linchu was a little surprised but pleased. He thought this chef might not appreciate his cooking. He smiled and said, “Of course you can.”
He and Tan Yue couldn’t finish eating such a large chicken by themselves anyway.
The chef immediately brought over a bowl, and Song Linchu filled it with a generous serving of chicken soup and meat. The chef received it gratefully, smelling it first, then closing his eyes to savor the aroma. Finally, he picked up a spoon and took a sip.
Song Linchu watched him nervously. After all, this was a great chef!
“Delicious,” the chef gave him a thumbs up. “It’s too delicious!”
Song Linchu beamed with delight and said, “Let me tell you the recipe and method, and you can make it for gege whenever you have the time.”
The chef couldn’t believe his ears. “You’ll tell me?”
“Yes,” Song Linchu blinked. “Is there a problem?”
The problem was huge!
This chicken was so delicious that it had to be a secret recipe. Without exaggeration, Song Linchu’s chicken-making skills were good enough to open a medicated chicken restaurant, and it would be a huge success.
The chef wasn’t someone who liked to take advantage of others. He said, “How about I buy your chicken recipe from you?”
“No, no, no need,” Song Linchu was startled by his serious tone. “It’s not a secret recipe, and I’ve told many people before.”
The chef: “…”
“Just make it for gege often,” Song Linchu said.
The chef was stunned by Song Linchu’s generosity. As expected of the person that their master valued, he was different from ordinary people.
Song Linchu had no idea that he had become a towering figure in the chef’s eyes. He placed the chicken on the table, added some soy sauce and a few drops of tea oil to the rice and vegetables, and then called out to Tan Yue to come and eat.
Tan Yue walked into the dining hall, where Song Linchu was mixing vegetables and rice. He was wearing a light purple sweater, a black apron tied around his waist, and his sleeves rolled up as he worked. He looked both virtuous and irresistibly attractive.
This person was deliberately seducing him again.
There are so many little tricks in his little head, did he treat Tan Mingqing like this back then?
Did he also dress up like this and cook soup for him?
Tan Yue’s gaze darkened.
Song Linchu was completely unaware of the fact that under Tan Yue’s cold demeanor, his mind had already wandered far away. He scooped a bowl of rice and placed it in front of Tan Yue, saying, “Gege, try it.”
Tanyue picked up his chopsticks. The rice was distinct, and wrapped in a light yellow chicken oil. Because it was mixed with perilla and fragrant tea oil, it didn’t feel greasy at all.
“Is it delicious, gege?” Song Linchu asked with a smile.
“Sour,” Tanyue replied.
“What? Sour?” Did the ingredients go bad? Song Linchu quickly took a bite, “It’s not sour.”
It was so delicious!
This stinky straight steel man didn’t even praise him, and he slandered him!
Tan Yue: “…”
Tan Yue coughed, suppressing his chaotic thoughts, and said, “Sorry, I wasn’t referring to the food. Please sit down and eat.”
Song Linchu felt that this dog of a man was looking for faults. He was such a bastard, not even appreciating how good the food was. He should just pour a bottle of vinegar on him next time, see if he could handle that sourness!
After enjoying a delicious dinner, the tailor came to take Song Linchu’s measurements.
After measuring him, the tailor asked, “Do you have any requirements for your clothes?”
Song Linchu knew nothing about fashion, all he cared about was wearing something comfortable. He believed he looked good even if he wrapped himself in a sack.
As he was about to suggest following the designer’s ideas, Tan Yue’s cold voice interrupted him, “Just make the same outfit as last time.”
“Okay, Mr. Tan.”
Song Linchu assumed Tan Yue was referring to the outfit he wore on New Year’s Day, and since he liked the style of, he did not object.
After his measurements were taken, Song Linchu yawned. He had been busy preparing for exams and his nerves had been taut. Now that he finally relaxed, he felt extremely sleepy and could barely keep his eyes open.
When he returned to his room and was ready to sleep after taking a shower, he suddenly remembered the secret he wanted to tell Tan Yue upon his return – the matter between him and Tan Mingqing. He had always been unsure how to confess it to Tan Yue, fearing that he would become angry and think that he had ulterior motives. Although he indeed had ulterior motives before, he was now with Tan Yue and had nothing to do with Tan Mingqing.
He had not done anything immoral, except perhaps letting Tan Yue restrict his pocket money.
Despite this, Song Linchu hesitated for a long time outside Tan Yue’s door, unable to gather the courage to knock.
On the nth time he raised his hand, contemplating whether to knock or not, the door suddenly opened from the inside, startling him so much that he almost turned and ran.
Tan Yue was dressed in a black night robe, and the V-neck design accentuated his long and slender neck and the sexy Adam’s apple.
Fuck!
Song Linchu was caught off guard by this wave of beauty, blushing immediately and lowering his head, not daring to look at him.
“Why are you blushing? Did you do something bad?” Tan Yue asked.
Song Linchu: “…”
Okay, he was embarrassed.
Song Linchu gritted his teeth. He was determined to sever ties with that scumbag as soon as possible.
He lifted his head and said firmly, “I have something to tell you.”
“Okay.” Tan Yue stepped aside to let him in.
Wow, Tan Yue’s room!
Song Linchu hesitated for a moment, but resisted the temptation and did not go in. What if the despicable man found out the truth and locked him up to beat him? It would be like calling to the heavens with no response and calling to the earth with no echo.
“Let’s talk at the door,” Song Linchu dared not look at Tan Yue, “Actually, I want to be honest with you. I… I, I dated your nephew Tan Mingqing for a while.”
After Song Linchu finished speaking, he lowered his head and waited for Tan Yue’s response.
Tan Yue: “Oh.”
Song Linchu: ?
That’s it?
He waited for a while, but did not hear any further response from Tan Yue. He asked cautiously, “Aren’t you angry?”
‘I’m angry.’ Tan Yue thought.
Thinking of how Song Linchu was so clingy and cute in front of Tan Mingqing and even flirted with him, Tan Yue just wanted to beat up that useless nephew.
“Do you think I would agree to a marriage agreement with someone I’m not familiar with without knowing his background?” Tan Yue said.
Song Linchu: “…”
Makes sense.
Damn! He worried for nothing!
The fact that Tan Yue accepted him despite knowing that he had a relationship with Tan Mingqing and approached him with an obvious ulterior motive, showed that there was still something special about him in the despicable man’s heart.
This realization made Song Linchu happy again. Tan Yue saw him smiling foolishly and asked, “Is there anything else?”
This was obviously a signal to end the conversation. Song Linchu shook his head, “No, just… your Adam’s apple looks really good.”
Maybe because his dressing style was more restrained before, he only realized today how sexy a man’s Adam’s apple could be, making him think…
Before Tan Yue could catch up with his jumping thoughts, Song Linchu suddenly reached out and touched his Adam’s apple, then ran away like a successful kitten, blushing to his ears.
Tan Yue: …
Tan Yue reached out and touched the spot that had just been touched, lightly hooked the corner of his mouth, shook his head and went back to his room.
With the weight off his mind, Song Linchu spent a happy few days until his birthday on the 23rd.
On his birthday, Cheng Bin sent Song Linchu to a hotel and had someone do his styling.
Song Linchu was a little ignorant about why a birthday had to be so grand. Cheng Bin patiently explained to him that although it was just a birthday party, it was also a public display of his identity to everyone. He was now Tan Yue’s legal partner, the other half of the Tan family’s patriarch, so he naturally had to make a grand entrance.
Concerned about Tan Yue’s face, Song Linchu cooperated well.
The stylist fiddled with his head as he played with his phone. It took him two hours to create a style that, although had left Song Linchu’s neck stiff, was undeniably stunning. The professional stylist’s work was far better than the one Zhou Kexin did for him when he participated in the singing competition.
Using some hair dye, the stylist added a touch of golden brown to his pitch-black hair. When combined with the custom-tailored suit, the overall look was striking, bold, and bright. Even the stylists who had done makeup for countless celebrities couldn’t help but gawk.
“You look so handsome,” the stylist, who had spent two hours on his hair, said. He had some understanding of Song Linchu and knew that he was fundamentally different from the big demon king Tan Yue. He was obviously very easy to talk to and he teased, “The entertainment industry lost a few hundred million viewers without you.”
Song Linchu smiled and said, “I’m just a three-nothing person who’s been heavily promoted by the capital. Clearly, it’s the viewers who escaped a disaster.”
The stylist was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing.
Song Linchu stared at himself in the mirror. With this look, it was perfect for meeting his ex-boyfriend. He couldn’t help but feel excited when he thought about Tan Mingqing’s reaction as if he’d seen a ghost he sees him later.
Just then, the door to the dressing room was pushed open by a crack, and a little head peeked in. Not seeing Tan Yue in the dressing room, the child breathed a sigh of relief and then locked eyes with Song Linchu.
Today, Song Linchu was just too dazzling. Tuantuan who loved goodlooking people immediately lit up.
With Tan Yue absent, he felt emboldened and ran towards Song Linchu, shouting, “Ah ah ah my wife!”
Other staff members: “…”
Song Linchu: “…”
Who is your wife?!
