After Mistakenly Binding The Matchmaker System

Chapter 207

Chapter 207

Unlike Li Shu, who spent most of the time in a daze, Gu Lin’s mind remained clear throughout. Therefore, he knew exactly what he was doing and what he wanted.

He was never someone who sought momentary pleasure. What he desired was never fleeting joy, but for this person to belong to him forever.

Li Shu could feel the grip around his waist tightening. He was already feeling weak, and being held like this made him uncomfortable, so he pushed against Gu Lin’s arm.

“Let me go first. It hurts.”

Gu Lin snapped out of his thoughts and realized that he had used too much strength. He quickly loosened his grip and tried to lift Li Shu’s shirt to check.

Li Shu stopped his hand. Afraid of being misunderstood, Gu Lin explained, “I just want to see if you’re hurt.”

Li Shu wasn’t injured. Even though Gu Lin had lost some control, his instincts would never allow him to hurt Li Shu.

Li Shu shook his head. “I’m not hurt.”

Still worried, Gu Lin wanted to check, but just then, his light brain rang.

It was the adjutant. Gu Lin hadn’t been seen for days, and a lot of things had piled up and needed his attention.

“You should go take care of your business. We’ll talk later.”

Gu Lin was clearly reluctant. He had planned to confess to Li Shu properly and take responsibility for him. This was something that should have been resolved before the incident, but Li Shu’s sudden heat had rushed things, leaving no time for explanations.

Now, just as he was about to address the unresolved issues, the adjutant’s call interrupted, saying there were urgent matters to handle. He really didn’t want to deal with any so-called emergencies right now.

“Shu Shu, I want you to remember that I was thinking about you before anything happened between us. It wasn’t just to help you, and it wasn’t for any other reason. So I don’t want to hear any words of thanks from you.” He gently caressed the Omega who was filled with the scent of his pheromones. “I don’t want to scare you, but while I’m away, take some time to think about it. Things aren’t very peaceful outside right now, so don’t go out. If you need to contact anyone, wait for me to come back.”

Seeing the serious look on his face, Li Shu didn’t say much and nodded. “Alright, I’ll wait for you.”

After Gu Lin left, Li Shu sat on the bed. The room had been cleaned, and there was no sign of the chaos from the past few days. He closed his eyes slightly, it felt as if the man’s tender gaze was still on him.

The sudden onset of his heat had disrupted his plans, forcing some changes to be made early. Li Shu knew he had many secrets, and even just the identity of “Lu Xi” was full of things that couldn’t be explained. Yet Gu Lin hadn’t asked about any of it.

[1314, how is Gu Lin’s happiness level right now?]

[It stabilized at 30.]

Thirty. Exactly half of the passing mark. Even though he and Gu Lin had already been intimate, there had been no significant increase in his happiness level, which meant there was something else affecting it.

Li Shu couldn’t quite describe the feeling. After experiencing so many worlds, he had thought that with enough patience, he could eventually uncover the man’s secrets. Just after making progress in the previous world, everything had reset to zero in this world.

It was impossible not to feel disappointed. Just when the dawn seemed near, and you’ve given everything to reach the end, you’re suddenly told that it was merely an illusion—what you saw was nothing more than a mirage.

But Li Shu was never someone to dwell in disappointment. Even if he felt let down, he wouldn’t show it. The fact that this person had accompanied him through so many worlds was already something he cherished. In the beginning, he thought the two of them were only destined to be together for one world.

He had already prepared to spend a long time missing that person, but to his surprise, he was gifted with joy in the second world. It was the first time he felt such an unfamiliar happiness. Not even when he cultivated nine tails had he felt this way.

So this is what human emotions are like. No wonder so many demons are willing to give up their cultivations for love, just to be with their beloved for one lifetime.

His emotions were faint, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have them. He could still feel pain and disappointment.

The disappointment was only temporary. One lead had been cut off, but he could always find a new one. He had plenty of time to find the truth he sought.

Gu Lin didn’t show up for several days. They had originally come to find Li Shu, and now that they had, they could have left, but some unforeseen circumstances had arisen, preventing him from departing.

There had been signs of the Zerg on Fanna Star.

If that had been the only issue, it wouldn’t have been enough to keep Gu Lin there. But this time, the Zerg they discovered had a humanoid form.

It was well known that Zerg were Zerg, with their massive, ugly forms. The Empire had been at war with them for a hundred years, and never had it been found that the Zerg could transform into a human-like shape. Everyone had accepted that the Zerg were only insect-like. Now, with the appearance of humanoid Zerg, how could it not cause a stir?

The information had already been sent back to the Empire Star, and the Empire took it very seriously. Orders were immediately given for Gu Lin to stay on alert, and other legions were also dispatched.

If the Zerg had truly evolved into humanoid forms, the Empire would have to completely rethink its strategy against them.

“Marshal, are we really going to let them come?”

By “them”, they meant the other legions. This matter was discovered by Gu Lin, and it wasn’t right to push him aside and let others handle it. What kind of position would that put Gu Lin in?

“If they want to come, let them. We’ll do our job,” Gu Lin replied, but he had his own concerns. Ever since receiving the news, he had felt a growing sense of unease.

For certain reasons, his sixth sense was unnervingly sharp. He never ignored the feelings that surged within him. If his guess was correct, this matter was likely related to what happened years ago.

But those things had all been destroyed by him. And he was sure there were no survivors. So what were these “Zerg” that suddenly appeared?

Not long after, Li Shu learned of the situation as well, not from Gu Lin, but on his own. Gu Lin hadn’t restricted his movements, and after fully recovering, Li Shu planned to go out and explore.

It was also a coincidence. He had ventured deep into the heart of the pirate base to cover his vest, but unexpectedly, his vest was taken off soon after, but it wasn’t a wasted trip. He managed to uncover some information about the Yue family.

The Yue family’s downfall had been linked to the pirates on the surface, and to silence the rumors, those involved had been quietly eliminated. Unexpectedly, he had found some clues.

At this moment, there were Gu Lin’s men following him from a distance. Li Shu had no plans of doing anything, so he didn’t bother to get rid of them. He didn’t deliberately go to the pirate base, and it seemed like he was just looking around, but the places he went to were a little off the usual paths.

“Ah—help—”

“There are Zerg—”

“The Zerg are here, run—”

Caught off guard, Li Shu was swept into a battle between the Zerg and humans. No, it was more like a one-sided massacre by the Zerg against the humans.

The Alpha following him quickly stepped forward, intending to protect Li Shu and lead him away from the chaos. His mission here was to ensure Li Shu’s safety, with the priority being to get him to a secure place.

Under the Alpha’s protection, Li Shu moved with the crowd and retreated. Behind him, there were loud tremors, the screams of people, and the unmistakable sound of chewing.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Li Shu turned his head slightly and narrowed his eyes. He sensed a disturbing aura approaching.

So this is the Zerg?

Massive, grotesque, with sharp teeth covered in blood. Li Shu had excellent vision, and even in the chaos, he could easily see the scene of the Zerg devouring humans.

The Zerg were not classified as intelligent beings because of their brutal nature. Wherever they went, nothing was left behind. Li Shu had only ever seen them in images; this was the first time he was seeing them in person.

There wasn’t just one Zerg—it was a whole swarm, large and small. They destroyed everything in their path, leaving a trail of fallen bodies and objects that became their food.

Li Shu began to move against the crowd, heading back. It was a difficult task since everyone was pushing toward the exit, and people were packed so tightly with no space left.

Finding it hard to move, Li Shu directly jumped and chose an area where there were fewer people.

The Alpha following him was caught off guard by the sudden movement. In that brief moment of shock, it became nearly impossible to catch up.

Why was Li Shu heading back? Because in the midst of the Zerg, he saw a human—a man dressed in white, standing at the center and surrounded by the Zerg. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the Zerg were following this man’s commands.

How was that possible? Even someone as powerful as Gu Lin, with 3S-level mental strength, or even Li Shu himself, couldn’t achieve something like that.

There was something off about this man.

Though he appeared human, Li Shu sensed the same fluctuations from him as he did from the Zerg. The power this man possessed was the same as that of the Zerg.

What did that mean? It meant that this “man” was Zerg. Li Shu had looked up information on the Zerg on the star network, and none of it ever mentioned that the Zerg could transform into humans.

Li Shu’s movements didn’t attract the attention of the panicked crowd, but the man in the middle of the Zerg swarm noticed him.

A wave of invisible mental energy swept over him, and Li Shu quietly dissolved it with his spiritual power.

A red gleam flashed in the man’s eyes and he intensified his attack.

While defending with spiritual power, Li Shu counterattacked.

Now that he understood the man’s role among the Zerg, Li Shu directly focused on him.

The confrontation between the two was invisible, but Li Shu’s spiritual power wasn’t just aimed at the man—it also targeted the Zerg he was leading. The Zerg’s movements slowed, giving others a better chance to escape.

While attacking the Zerg, Li Shu discreetly protected a few humans who were about to be devoured.

“Buzz buzz buzz—who are you?”

Li Shu didn’t answer. The closer he got, the more he felt something was wrong. A fleeting sensation that he couldn’t quite catch passed by, and then he heard Gu Lin’s voice.

“Shu Shu—”

Li Shu turned his head.

Across the chaotic crowd, the slender and fragile Omega stood before the massive Zerg, locking eyes with the anxious-looking Alpha from afar.

Gu Lin’s heart nearly stopped and he charged through the crowd toward Li Shu.

Before Li Shu could say anything, a sudden gust of wind approached from behind. He dodged to the side and raised his hand to block the massive forelimb the Zerg had swung down.

The delicate skin was instantly pierced, and bright red blood flowed down his arm. Li Shu didn’t seem to mind, but Gu Lin’s expression changed immediately.

A blinding light descended, and the Zerg’s forelimb that had gripped Li Shu’s arm was severed, sending it crashing to the ground.

Dust rose in the air.
