Chapter 61
Chapter 61
“Did Jonathan really say he wants to collaborate with you in December?” Qin Ran was sitting in the passenger seat, and had to turn his head to ask.
“Would I lie to you about something like this, Brother Qin?” Li Shu chuckled, his finger paused on the phone screen, coincidentally pressing on a minimized image. If he were to enlarge it, he would find that it was the same picture Mo Yanzhi had received.
There was a smile on his face, but his eyes were cold. He lowered his eyes slightly, and no one noticed the emotion in his eyes. He knew who sent the photo. At this time, the other party had most likely sent the photo to Mo Yanzhi.
The two people in the photo seemed slightly ambiguous due to the angle of the photographer, but in fact, they hadn’t done anything except discuss cooperation.
Li Shu was a very domineering person, oh no, demon. Others are absolutely not allowed to covet the people or things within his domain. Whether he wanted something or not was his business; others trying to snatch it away was unacceptable.
Back at the villa, before Mo Yanzhi could do anything, Li Shu grabbed him by the collar and pressed him against the wall beside the door. Mo Yanzhi was half a head taller than Li Shu, so Li Shu had to tilt his head slightly to meet his gaze.
Although he was shorter than the man, Li Shu was not less imposing at all. He looked up at Mo Yanzhi, emotions swirling in his eyes. “Is there something President Mo wants to ask me?”
Being stared at by those bright and slightly angry eyes, the anger in Mo Yanzhi’s heart due to seeing the photo slowly subsided. He thought, why get angry over a photo of unknown authenticity? Li Shu was by his side, in his arms, that was enough.
So he shook his head.
“Really?” Li Shu narrowed his eyes, maintaining his original posture with one hand while pulling out his phone from his pocket with the other. He opened it and held it up to Mo Yanzhi’s eyes, asking softly. “Don’t you want to hear my explanation for this photo?”
There was a trace of struggle in Mo Yanzhi’s eyes, but it quickly subsided. He raised his hand and gently touched the back of Li Shu’s head, his tone as gentle as ever. “I trust you.”
“Well then… I was actually going to explain it to you, but since you said that,” a hint of cunning flashed in Li Shu’s eyes, “you’ve saved me the trouble of explaining.”
How could Mo Yanzhi not want to know what was going on in the photo? The words were already spoken, and the dignified president of the Mo Group couldn’t go back on his word… Suppressing the smile in his eyes, Mo Yanzhi reached out and easily pulled the young man back into his arms as he tried to leave.
“I didn’t agree to let you go. I trust you about the photo, and I’ve already had someone investigate who did this. I’ve had Ah Si and the others follow you these past few days. I’m afraid those people might try something against you if they get anxious.”
Since Li Shu’s existence was exposed, Mo Yanzhi no longer hid it. He openly let Li Shu enter the upper-class society as his lover. He wanted everyone to know that Li Shu was his.
He also accelerated his pace on the Mo family side. Since those people dared to reach out recklessly, then they shouldn’t blame him for cutting off those meddling hands.
Ah Si was the leader of the bodyguard team sent by Mo Yanzhi. Li Shu knew it was a critical time and didn’t reject Mo Yanzhi’s good intentions. Those bodyguards do not have a strong sense of presence around him, and they would not be a hindrance if they followed him.
On October 20th, “Seeking the Sword” began filming, and Li Shu went to the set. The shooting location was at the famous film and television base in X City. Originally, the funds for “Seeking for the Sword” weren’t enough to film at such a film and television base. It was all thanks to a large additional investment from Mo Yanzhi that the crew could be so confident.
Compared to the beginning, the crew for “Seeking the Sword” could be said to have undergone a drastic change. Whether it was costumes, props, or filming equipment, they had all been upgraded several levels. With the backing of the Mo family, “Seeking the Sword” might even make it to the stars.
The promotional photos were taken early. Li Shu had two sets of outfits, one in white and he looked cold, and the other in red and he looked charming. He played the second male lead and he brought in a large amount of investment to the crew. The crew took a separate set of promotional photos for him, including one of him in white clothes as a swordsman playing the flute, and another of him in red clothes holding a long whip, and looking murderous…
The crew of “Seeking the Sword” mostly consisted of unknown artists. After receiving additional investment, the director didn’t entertain the idea of replacing newcomers with popular artists. The assistant director once mentioned it, but the director dismissed it.
He had overseen the casting for this film personally, and had chosen the most suitable people. There was no need to replace them for the sake of popularity. With the extra money, it was better to invest more in the production.
Because the crew consisted of relatively unknown artists, Li Shu was currently the most popular one. Li Shu never put on airs on set, and the atmosphere within the crew was harmonious. At least, no one was unhappy with Li Shu.
No one in the entertainment industry was a fool. The director kicked away those who wanted to join the cast with money but wanted the script changed. However, the crew didn’t suffer any losses and even gained additional funding, enriching their previously tight finances. It was evident what this meant.
Li Shu was relieved that no one was looking for trouble. The crew was shooting in complete isolation and during the filming period, no one was allowed to leave the set, which was stipulated in the contract signed before joining. For over three months, he had to live and eat with the crew members.
Mo Yanzhi sent several bodyguards disguised as crew members into the crew. Things had reached a critical stage on his end, so Li Shu’s safety had to be taken seriously to prevent any retaliation from those people.
In “Seeking the Sword”, Li Shu played a graceful swordsman in white clothes in the early stages, wandering the world alone with his sword. Halfway through, he met the protagonist and his group being chased, and joined them. He then fought monsters and leveled up with the protagonist’s team. In the later stages, he played a red-clothed villain wielding a long whip, casually taking lives with a smile. Whether in the early or later stages, he was a person with a high martial arts.
The director of “Seeking the Sword” was strict. For fight scenes, he required actors to perform in person. Fortunately, most of the cast had experience, and the martial arts instructor was competent.
Before the first fight scene, the director specifically asked Li Shu if he wanted to use a stunt double. It wasn’t because he treated Li Shu differently but because the sponsor dad had instructed that Li Shu’s safety must come first, no matter what happened.
To shoot good fight scenes, especially in ancient settings, it required elegance and beauty, and wirework was essential. The director knew about Li Shu’s past roles, they were all modern dramas where he only needed to show his face. Li Shu had never done wirework before.
“I’m fine,” Li Shu said, picking up the teacup on the table with slender fingers. His fair wrist peeked out from the wide sleeves of his robe, presenting a picturesque scene.
Having just finished a scene, Li Shu was still wearing his costume—a white robe with silver patterns embroidered at the hem and cuffs, and his long hair was partially tied up. Even in the bustling set, he appeared like a native of ancient times, completely without any sense of incongruity.
“Okay, just be careful later, don’t push yourself too hard,” the director smiled and took a sip of tea. Initially, he was worried about Li Shu’s acting skills, but given the sponsor dad’s instructions, even if Li Shu’s acting wasn’t satisfactory, he could only grit his teeth and teach him.
But once Li Shu got into character, the director was startled. Not because Li Shu’s acting was bad—quite the opposite. He was shocked because Li Shu’s acting was too good.
Such acting skills could be said to have surpassed many people in the industry.
In “Seeking the Sword”, there were many scenes that required wirework. After changing into his costume, Li Shu was tied to the wire with the help of the staff. He was ready, but the actor playing the protagonist wasn’t yet.
He stood with his arms folded and glanced at the staff calmly.
Just now, 1314 warned him that the wire had been tampered with. If they followed the original plan and raised him into the air, there was a high probability of an accident.
After receiving the warning, Li Shu calmly surveyed the surroundings. 1314 had only said there was a problem with the wire, not who had tampered with it. During this time, it was a good opportunity to see who was suspicious.
Surprisingly, he really noticed something. Standing among the crowd, a middle-aged man also dressed in costume seemed calm, but his wandering gaze betrayed his anxiety.
‘This person…’ Li Shu frowned slightly. He remembered this person, he played the boss in the second stage of “Seeking the Sword.” When he first joined the crew, he had shown goodwill towards him. So why would he suddenly tamper with the wire?
Before Li Shu could think about it carefully, the director called for action. Li Shu quickly said, “Wait.”
Li Shu kept paying attention to the middle-aged man. He saw the fleeting panic on his face, which was quickly replaced by relief.
“What’s going on?” The director furrowed his brows and walked into the set. After working together for some time, he knew Li Shu wasn’t someone who would act without reason at such a critical moment, so he must have some reasons.
“Director, let’s have the wire checked again,” Li Shu suggested.
Upon hearing this, the director’s expression immediately became serious. He knew what consequences a problem with the wire could bring. Without further questioning, he immediately ordered a check.
The actor playing the protagonist wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t say a word. In such a situation, if something really happened, he couldn’t bear the responsibility.
The conversation between Li Shu and the director was not loud enough for the peripheral staff to hear clearly. They could only see the director giving serious instructions and then having the wire facilities checked by the staff members.
The results came out quickly. There were indeed traces of sabotage on the wire.
The ropes on Li Shu had already been removed. Together with the director, he went to the location where the wire had been damaged.
The staff responsible for checking safety pointed to a small damaged area. “There were no marks here when I checked this morning. This part was cut and would be unable to bear the weight of an adult. If someone were really lifted into the air…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone present understood what he meant. A chill ran down their spines, and the director’s face turned cold. “Investigate. I want to know who did this!”
This fight scene was the most difficult. Li Shu was supposed to be lifted to the highest point from the beginning. If he really fell, from such a height, it was highly likely to cause permanent disability. If something happened to Li Shu on his set, there would be no need to continue filming.
Whether it was aimed at Li Shu personally or at the entire crew, it could be seen how vicious the person behind this incident was.
Mo Yanzhi, who was far away in the imperial capital, received the news immediately. He hung up the phone with a cold face and immediately instructed Assistant Xu to book a flight to X City. He put on his coat as he walked out, ordering, “There’s no need to hold back this time. Execute Plan Three directly. I’ll leave this to you to command. I’m going to X City.”
It seemed he had been too lenient!
