Chapter 585
Chapter 585
“Papa.”
Tuanzi shouted nasally with drowsiness.
Bai Lixin paused and glanced back at the small milky bundle, then turned to continue walking outside.
“Papa… protect… key.”
Bai Lixin’s steps stopped abruptly, and he quietly approached the side of the bed.
The child on the bed was sound asleep, completely unaware that he was talking in his sleep.
His voice was somewhat indistinct, and Bai Lixin could only catch two or three words out of the six or seven he said.
Bai Lixin sat by the bedside and waited for a while. Then the milk bundle giggled.
In the luxurious and warm room, the bedside night lamp cast a warm, dim light.
The sleeping Tuanzi was dreaming about something, and he unconsciously reached out into the air.
His two chubby hands grabbed left and right alternately, seemingly trying to catch something.
“Karma fruit…”
While making the grabbing motion, Tuanzi spoke in his sleep again.
Bai Lixin watched Tuanzi’s hands for a moment, then took out the karma fruit from his backpack and hung it between AI Tuanzi’s outstretched hands.
The AI Tuanzi groped in his sleep and accidentally touched the karma fruit in Bai Lixin’s hand.
The next second, Tuanzi, who was sleeping soundly, grabbed the karma fruit like a newborn kitten finding its mother’s teat, holding it firmly between both hands.
Bai Lixin remained silent, observing the Tuanzi’s actions.
Tuanzi held the karma fruit that looked like a red apple near his mouth, ready to take a bite with his small teeth.
Quick as lightning, Bai Lixin snatched the karma fruit.
This couldn’t be eaten.
It was the real body of Tuanzi.
“Ah!”
The milk bundle hadn’t realized the karma fruit was gone and bit fiercely into empty air. It was so fierce Bai Lixin could even hear the clashing sound of teeth.
There was a muffled “click” from his teeth, and the little boy’s face instantly looked like an eggplant hit by frost. His features scrunched up together and he burst into tears.
It was odd; even in such pain, Tuanzi didn’t wake up. Tears as big as beans rolled down from the corners of his eyes and slid onto the bed.
After crying for a while, Tuanzi hiccupped, grabbed a corner of the blanket, and slipped completely under it.
Bai Lixin: “…”
Patiently lifting the blanket again, Bai Lixin painstakingly rescued Tuanzi’s head and breath from the covers once more.
At this point, Tuanzi’s breathing had settled into a steady rhythm, his chest rising and falling rhythmically. It seemed his dream had temporarily come to an end.
Did he mishear just now?
Tuanzi mentioned “protect” and “key” in his sleep.
These AI copies the system created were obviously much more advanced than the previous AI butlers. Not only are the characters indistinguishable from the originals, even their personalities, habits and memories were copied.
Clearly, the AI Tuanzi retained memories from the original Tuanzi. But even he, the so-called “Papa”, didn’t know what the “key” Tuanzi mentioned referred to.
Bai Lixin looked at the karma fruit in his hand thoughtfully. The smooth red skin still retained the warmth left by the AI Tuanzi.
‘Tuanzi, are you also part of Dijia’s plan?’
‘What exactly does the “key” you spoke of refer to?’
‘What kind of agreement did you make privately with Dijia?’
Bai Lixin didn’t leave that night but stayed in the bedroom instead.
He didn’t want to miss any of the AI Tuanzi’s sleep talk, hoping to find some clues from it.
However, the latter half of the night passed with Tuanzi sleeping particularly soundly, he didn’t utter another word in his sleep.
Warm sunlight mixed with a comforting warmth shone into the room. Feeling a slight shake, Bai Lixin rubbed his eyes and opened them. What met his eyes were Tuanzi’s round face and shiny obsidian eyes.
AI Tuanzi blinked, moved closer to Bai Lixin, and called out in a milky voice, “Papa, good morning.”
Bai Lixin responded with a soft “oh” and sat up in bed.
Last night he did not take off his clothes to sleep, nor did he cover himself with a blanket. He simply lay on the bed to rest.
His clothes were now a bit wrinkled. Bai Lixin rubbed Tuanzi’s fluffy hair sleepily and said, “Good morning. I’ll go change clothes.”
With that, he got up and left, not noticing the joyous look in Tuanzi’s eyes.
Breakfast wasn’t something they had to prepare themselves in the castle, nor did Bai Lixin need to buy daily food from the mall.
According to the escape system, after reaching the 900th floor, players entered a different phase.
Here, they enjoyed exceptional treatment. Firstly, there was no longer a daily deduction of 50 points. Additionally, daily necessities like food and living didn’t consume points either. The system provided the best food, giving players a home-like experience.
Of course, players could still purchase items from the mall if they wanted.
So after freshening up and changing into clean clothes, Bai Lixin emerged to find a table already set with exquisite food.
Steaming milk, soups and pastries on delicate silver trays, desserts, and fruits were all laid out.
The table was rectangular, and AI Tuanzi was already seated in a chair near the edge.
Because of his small size, his legs couldn’t reach the ground when he sat down.
Attendants had dressed AI Tuanzi in a pleated court-style white shirt with a gray checked vest and little leather boots. His legs swung boredly, but he sat obediently.
Seeing Bai Lixin arrive, AI Tuanzi looked at him eagerly.
Bai Lixin thought for a moment, then sat down beside AI Tuanzi.
Seeing Bai Lixin sit next to him, AI Tuanzi’s eyes grew even more eager. He carefully handed a silver spoon to Bai Lixin and said, “Papa, here’s a spoon for you.”
Bai Lixin took the offered spoon. “Thank you.”
The two attendants left by Bai Lixin to serve Tuanzi stood on either side of the dining room door. Bai Lixin glanced at the two stiff NPCs standing there and quietly drank his soup.
The soup was rich and sweet with the flavor of corn.
“Papa,” AI Tuanzi squirmed beside him and tentatively spoke up, “I’m sorry.”
After swallowing a spoonful of corn soup, Bai Lixin turned to the small AI Tuanzi. “What are you apologizing for? What’s wrong?”
“I didn’t hear Papa come back last night. I was waiting for you and fell asleep.” Tuanzi pouted, ‘I was too deep in sleep to hear you come into the room.”
“I’m really sorry.”
Bai Lixin accidentally hit the edge of the tray with his spoon, making a crisp “ding” sound. “It’s not your fault. I came back too late.”
‘There’s really no need for that!’
He thought for a moment. “My schedule is unpredictable every day. You don’t need to wait for me in the future. Sleep when you’re tired.”
He added, “I’m really not angry.”
“Oh.” Tuanzi said with slumped shoulders. “I understand.”
Bai Lixin: “…”
‘Now why are you upset about this?’
“Papa, do you dislike me or despise me?” Tuanzi took a few bites of food, then raised his head again, his eyes already wet.
Bai Lixin replied firmly, “No, I don’t dislike you at all.”
‘What does this have to do with anything?”
AI Tuanzi: “Then why does Papa always avoid me? I’ve been looking for Papa, but I can never find him. Yesterday, I only saw Papa briefly in the garden, and now that Papa finished breakfast, are you going out again?”
Bai Lixin did intend to go out.
Yesterday, Zhou Guang and the others sent him celebration messages one after another. Today, he had to visit the Core Fire Guild.
AI Tuanzi lowered his head, rubbing his own hair with a slightly flushed face. “Papa, thank you.”
Bai Lixin: “Huh? For what?”
‘Why is this suddenly turning into a thank you?’ He was having a hard time following this AI’s thought process.
“Today, Papa rubbed my hair and Tuanzi was really happy. Papa, you don’t really dislike me, right?”
“Of course not. Why would I dislike you?”
AI Tuanzi looked up again, his wet eyes resembling an innocent fawn. “Then can Papa come home earlier tonight? Tuanzi is bored alone at home and really misses Papa.”
“I’m not sure what time I’ll be back.” Bai Lixin really wasn’t sure when he’d finish.
“But I’ll try to come back as soon as possible.” However, this was because he had some questions for AI Tuanzi. It would be inconvenient to come back late and find the AI Tuanzi already asleep.
AI Tuanzi’s eyes suddenly lit up, and he clapped his hands happily. “Great! Then Tuanzi will wait for Papa to come home.”
Bai Lixin: “…”
Is this the AI arranged by the system in the castle?
It has rich expressions and emotions. From their conversation just now, it seems like the AI is trying hard to evoke emotions from him.
This is only the first day.
If it were someone else, if more time passed…
They’d keep sinking in the emotional cocoon, indulging in warmth, and getting lost in sweet words.
After breakfast, Bai Lixin left and took the elevator directly to the Core Fire Guild’s floor.
“Well, look who’s here! Isn’t this our God Xin who just climbed to the 930th floor? Congratulations, you’re really something.”
Just as he stepped off the elevator and before he could even stand firmly, Bai Lixin heard a bold and feminine voice teasing from afar.
He followed the voice and saw a man and a woman walking towards him.
The woman was tall and graceful, dressed in a bright red long dress, with long, flowing curls and striking features.
The man beside her was a headtaller than her, somewhat slender, with hair that was a light gray leaning towards white. His skin was fair, not much darker than his white hair, but a prominent red mole at the corner of his eye added a touch of charm to his otherwise pale face.
The woman confidently linked arms with the man, approached Bai Lixin with a smile, and appraised him up and down: “Bai Lixin, you’re still as handsome as ever.”
“If I didn’t have Tian Tian already, I might have made a move on you.”
“Don’t harm me,” Bai Lixin joked, “I’ve already made enough enemies, I don’t want to be hunted down by President Song.”
Song Yuantian smiled shyly, “Bai Lixin, don’t take it to heart. Hongyue just likes to joke. I apologize on her behalf.”
“Why apologize?” A cold male voice cut in. A cool and handsome young man in a leather jacket and Martin boots approached from afar, “You’re the president of our Sand Sea Guild. How can you apologize so easily? What about your dignity? What about your pride as the president?”
“Lin Jue.” Hongyue glanced at the young man in the leather jacket, “Old Song has discussed this with me several times. He plans to switch with you, let you be the president, and he will be the vice president. I believe you’ll carry yourself with great pride once you become the president.”
“Him as president?” Another slightly arrogant voice rang out, “Come on, don’t ruin the Sand Sea Guild.”
