After the Full-Level Boss Entered the Infinite Game By Mistake

Chapter 635

Chapter 635

“How would I know,” Xia Chi blinked. “You’d have to ask my brother that.”

Song Yuantian: “Does Bai Lixin know about this?”

Xia Chi: “He doesn’t know yet. I haven’t had a chance to tell him.”

Song Yuantian: “Why didn’t you tell Bai Lixin earlier?”

Xia Chi explained, “I needed an opportunity. I didn’t get one because something snuck in among those dozen people. I didn’t dare to speak.”

Song Yuantian recalled those dozen people and asked, “Something snuck in? Does Bai Lixin know?”

Xia Chi nodded, “He knows. Otherwise, why would he ask me to stay behind?”

Song Yuantian’s mind went blank for a moment. “Huh?”

Xia Chi rolled his eyes, “Huh, what? You didn’t really think my brother kept me from coming along just to avoid being called a coquettish bitch’?”

Song Yuantian: “…”

‘Could it be that wasn’t the reason?’

“Alright, there’s no time to lose,” Xia Chi said as he closed the photo album. “Let’s get out of here quickly.”

As the tablecloth was lifted, an old face which shouldn’t have been there nearly made Xia Chi scream.

Master Song had somehow appeared in the room. He was crouching on the floor, staring at the two of them with unblinking eyes.

He looked like he was catching a couple committing adultery.

Xia Chi’s voice trembled, “Father… Father, why are you here? When did you come?”

Master Song ignored Xia Chi, his eyes fixed on Song Yuantian, as if he wanted to devour him.

Song Yuantian felt a chill in his heart, but recalling his earlier conversation with Xia Chi, he forced himself to be bold and said with a nervous laugh, “Haha, Master Song, what a coincidence.”

Master Song still didn’t speak. He just crouched there, blocking their way.

Xia Chi leaned over to Song Yuantian’s ear and whispered urgently, “Why are you calling him Master Song? That’s too formal. Call him Great Ancestor!”

His words seemed to trigger something in Master Song. His eyes blinked once.

Song Yuantian glared at Xia Chi, licked his dry lips, then gritted his teeth and called out, “G-Great Ancestor.”

Master Song’s eyes blinked several more times. Slowly, he stood up and walked into a corner, hiding himself in the shadows without saying a word.

Xia Chi and Song Yuantian crawled out from under the table. Song Yuantian looked at Master Song’s back in confusion, not knowing what the other party was up to.

Xia Chi nudged Song Yuantian and whispered, “What are you standing around for? This is an obvious signal to let us go, so let’s hurry.”

Song Yuantian: “…”

When they reached the window, Song Yuantian suddenly stopped.

He looked at Master Song’s slightly hunched back and suddenly felt like saying something.

But the words felt like a lump in his throat.

He thought for a long time before finally saying in a low voice, “I heard this from my elders. Later on, Great-Grandmother returned to the country and took my Great-Grandfather to visit the grave. Afterward, Great-Grandfather married my Great-Grandmother, and life gradually got better, with more and more people in the Song family. My father often says that the Song ancestors were all righteous people, and without them, there would be no us today. He taught us to cherish the life we have now. Oh, and by the way, the era we live in is very peaceful. The country is strong and prosperous, and the people live and work in peace and contentment.”

Master Song still had his back to them. After a long while, Song Yuantian heard Master Song sigh softly, and his voice was as soft as a whisper, “It was worth it.”

A thread called inheritance seemed to hit Song Yuantian instantly. He stood at one end of history, and his ancestor stood at the other end of history.

Master Song never turned back. Song Yuantian took another look at him, then left through the window with Xia Chi.

By the time the two crawled out of the dog hole, it was completely dark.

Chenjia Village was right in front of them, but it looked very different from the Chenjia Village they had seen before. The ground was full of potholes, and the place was in ruins.

The walls of the houses had collapsed, and the gates and doors were broken and tattered, making the buildings look like they were about to collapse.

Was it because they had uncovered the illusion of this world that they could now see the real Chenjia Village?

The old elm tree in the center of the village was now just a withered trunk, standing there alone and desolate.

The people who had once sat under the tree to cool off and chat were gone. Only a few toppled stone benches remained under the tree.

The wind blew, creating a howling sound, like someone wailing in grief.

The once bustling village was now deserted. There was no sign of the lively people of Chenjia Village.

Rong Mountain was pitch black at night, and the mountain path was rugged. The players walked in a line, moving with extra caution.

As they approached the banyan tree near the mountaintop, they heard rustling sounds behind the bushes, followed by a voice filled with surprise, “It’s them, the missing players!”

Some people emerged from the bushes—it was a few of the players from the group that had been searching for the treasure earlier.

“Where have you been? We were so worried about you.” They came running out from behind the bushes, full of excitement. “It’s so good to see you’re safe.”

Bai Lixin: “Why are there only a few of you? Where are the others?”

One of them pointed to the banyan tree at the highest point. “Mr. Li took them up there. We saw a group of people going up the mountain so we stayed behind to guard against being followed. We didn’t expect it to be you.”

Bai Lixin looked up at the mountaintop. The huge banyan tree covered the entire peak, glowing with a soft radiance and exuding a majestic presence.

A group of figures stood under the tree, their outlines blurry and indistinct. The shadows moved, as if waving towards them.

The player who had spoken earlier waved back excitedly, “Let’s hurry up and join them. We searched the mountain thoroughly all day. Mr. Li used his predictive ability and determined that the treasure is near the banyan tree at the top.”

Bai Lixin: “…”

When the group reached the top of the mountain, they saw Li Li pointing at the grave mounds behind the banyan tree, saying something.

From where they stood, he was far from the center of the banyan tree, standing almost on the edge of the cliff, as if he was very wary of the banyan tree touching him.

Bai Lixin moved closer and finally heard what Li Li was saying.

“Dig up these graves. The treasure is buried beneath them.”

Some of the players hesitated.

“Dig up graves…and so many of them? Isn’t that inappropriate?”

Li Li: “Do you want to live or not? If we don’t find the treasure, we’re all going to die. I predicted that the treasure is right beneath these graves.”

As he spoke, he glanced down the cliff. “Hurry up, there are shadows climbing the mountain.”

“You all came just in time,” Li Li said as he looked at Bai Lixin and his group. “The more people, the stronger the power. You guys help too.”

Whoosh!

The huge banyan tree’s leaves fluttered without wind, making a rustling sound like a beast growling.

“Look at the graves!” someone exclaimed, “Something is coming out!”

Everyone looked over and saw dark shadows emerging one after another from the pitch-black graves.

They were blurry figures, their bodies translucent, like ghosts.

An endless sea of graves, countless ghosts.

Li Li’s voice was firm, “Don’t be afraid! These things are nothing to worry about, kill them! They’re just a bunch of rabble… Ouch, who hit me!”

The man’s voice abruptly stopped as something struck him squarely in the face, causing him to stagger and nearly fall off the cliff.

Li Li covered his face. He looked at what hit him on the ground, only to find it was a shoe.

Lin Jue rubbed his hands nonchalantly and retracted his arm. “Oops, sorry, my hand slipped.”

Li Li covered his red face, “You expect me to believe that? Your hand slipped, and the shoe just ended up in your hand?”

Lin Jue slowly took out a new pair of shoes from his backpack and put them on. He then picked up the other old shoe. “I was wondering why it smelled so bad. Turns out the shoe stepped in dog poop earlier.”

Li Li’s eyes swept over the old shoe on the ground, his face turning blue and purple. “Can you stop messing around? There are only a little over twenty hours left. You may want to die, but others want to live.”

Lin Jue: “Who’s really messing around here? I think you’re not trying to find treasure but using the treasure as an excuse to make others dig up the graves for you.”

Li Li: “What nonsense are you talking about?”

Bai Lixin: “The one talking nonsense is you, right?”

The sudden infighting left the already hesitant players stunned on the spot.

They looked at Li Li, then at Bai Lixin, not knowing what was going on.

The ghosts were growing in number and getting closer.

Li Li shouted, “What are you all standing around for? Do something! Are you waiting to die?”

“Nobody moves! Just stand still, they won’t attack you!” Lin Jue immediately yelled back.

The players exchanged confused looks.

“What should we do? Whose orders do we follow?”

“Li Li’s, right? After all, he’s the one who brought us this far.”

“But Lin Jue also saved these dozen people.”

“I want to listen to Li Li, but there are so many ghosts, and I’m not strong enough to fight them.”

“Honestly, I can’t fight them either.”

“Lin Jue doesn’t even have a weapon. They wouldn’t want to die themselves, right? Why not try listening to them?”

“Try and then die?”

“…”

Some players quietly put away their weapons and hid behind Lin Jue.

Others remained frozen in place.

A few of Li Li’s loyal supporters, fully trusting him, raised their weapons to attack the ghosts.

The ghosts quickly swarmed over, enveloped these attackers and pinned them to the ground, making them unable to move.

Li Li, who was still standing on the edge of the cliff, took a deep breath, his previously cold and hard expression slowly softening and returning to his usual gentle demeanor. “I guess I was too anxious, we should have listened to Lin Jue. These ghosts don’t seem to attack on their own. But we’ve searched Robg Mountain today, and this is the only place where the treasure could be hidden. And with so many ghosts here, they might just be the guardians of the treasure.”

“My tone was wrong earlier, but we’ve already taken the first 99 steps, are we really going to give up because of the last one?”

“Where the treasure could be hidden?” Lin Jue twirled the other shoe in his hand. “Didn’t you just say your predictive skill confirmed the treasure was underneath? How come it has become just a possibility now?”

“Are you lying to us?”

Everyone’s doubtful eyes turned to Li Li.

Li Li chuckled softly, “How could I be lying? If I were, why would I sign a death contract with you? Wouldn’t I be making life difficult for myself?”

Everyone was immediately convinced.

“Yeah, that makes sense. There’s a death contract.”

Bai Lixin: “We did sign a death contract, but not with you, with Li Li.”

Li Li burst into laughter, “What a joke, are you out of your mind? I am Li Li, Li Li is me.”

Bai Lixin: “You’re the joke. You’re not Li Li at all, you’re just a monster wearing Li Li’s skin.”

The crowd burst into an uproar, and everyone stared at the Li Li standing on the edge of the cliff.

Li Li looked like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, his face flushing red. “What nonsense are you spouting!”

Bai Lixin: “Since you claim to be Li Li, let me ask you a simple question. How much time do we have left on the timer in the upper left corner of our system?”

Li Li sneered, “There are 22 hours and 12 minutes left on the timer.”

The players glanced at each other, and subconsciously took two steps back away from Li Li.

Li Li’s face changed slightly. “It’s 22 hours and 12 minutes! I didn’t get it wrong, why are you backing away?”

Bai Lixin: “Because our time isn’t displayed in the upper left corner, it’s in the center…”

Li Li’s face suddenly changed, but quickly returned to normal. “I was just momentarily confused because of the urgency, of course, I know the game time is in the center of the screen.”

The players backed away even further.

Li Li: “?? Why are you backing away again!”

A player muttered, “Actually, it’s not in the center, it’s in the upper right corner… You’re getting it more and more wrong the more you talk, it’s too scary. An explanation is a cover-up, and a cover-up means there’s a problem. There’s definitely something wrong with him!”

Li Li was enraged, “…Bastard! You were playing me!”
