The man’s shameless actions were hidden in the blind spot of the Count’s view. The Count had been watching from the second floor, and the Countess, trapped, dared not make any rash moves. She had no choice but to let herself become another man’s plaything right under the Count’s nose, allowing him to covertly touch her inappropriately in the crowded dance floor.
The man’s hand seemed to possess some sort of magic. Wherever it brushed, the Countess only felt her skin burning and trembling.
The poor Countess bit back the unbearable sound in her throat, forcing herself to maintain her composure and smile as she danced with the man in the ballroom.
It wasn’t until she saw the Count leaving out of the corner of her eye that the pitiful Countess sighed softly, and her shoulders suddenly relaxed. However, the man immediately grabbed her arm and lifted her up. Most of Bai Lixin’s weight hung on the man’s arm. He lowered his chin and hid his expression, his voice extremely low, “Enough, haven’t you humiliated me enough? Do you really want me to make a fool of myself in front of everyone?”
“Sorry, Madam,” the man propped up his arm, “What ill intent could I, your young and vigorous lover, possibly have? I just felt concerned and worried that Madam might faint in the ballroom.”
Without a trace, he tugged Bai Lixin towards the corner. “Madam, you seem very tired. A lover should be mindful of their role. Naturally, I can’t bear to see you so exhausted, so I’ll take you to rest.”
Before Bai Lixin could resist, the man’s strong arm pulled him directly out of the dance floor and disappeared into a hidden corridor.
Ji Nansheng, who was slowly exploring the corridor, heard some noise behind him and turned his head sensitively. He saw two blurred figures barging in at the end of the corridor.
The lights above the corridor were dim, in stark contrast to the brightly lit hall at the other end.
When the two people entered, he could only see a golden glow behind them, but their features were unclear.
However, the silhouette of one of them seemed vaguely familiar, stirring something in Ji Nansheng’s heart and causing him to stop.
He saw them push each other into the corner of the corridor, and in an instant, both were swallowed by the shadows.
The young man with glasses next to him paused, “Nansheng, come on.”
There seemed to be a faint rustling sound coming from the end of the corridor.
Ji Nansheng wanted to turn and leave, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off as he looked at the dimly exposed shadows at the end of the corridor.
“You go ahead,” Ji Nansheng finally decided to trust his intuition, throwing out the words as he walked toward the two figures.
Along with Ji Nansheng were four other people: the young man with glasses, a girl in a floral dress, a muscular guy, and a blond man with Western features.
They had intended to get on camera, so when Ji Nansheng turned back, there was no way they’d leave him behind.
The four looked at each other and followed Ji Nansheng in unison.
As Ji Nansheng got closer and closer. Until he was four or five meters away from the shadowy figures, he finally made out the scene.
There were two people in the shadow. A tall man leaned against the corner, and another person was hidden within the man’s embrace.
The man was so tall and broad-shouldered that he completely shielded the person inside.
Ji Nansheng slightly lowered his head, and could vaguely see a pair of slender legs in black high heels between the man’s legs.
The barrage in the live broadcast started rolling furiously.

“Let’s go,” there were over 3 million viewers watching the live broadcast and Ji Nansheng didn’t want to be labeled as a “pervert”, so he stopped four meters away and turned his head. “It’s just NPCs interacting. Let’s keep looking for the captain.”
The barrage started to cheer.

Ji Nansheng pretended not to notice the comments in the barrage, and along with the others, quickly passed through the corridor, disappearing around the corner.
Only after they were far away did the man take a step back, revealing the person who had been hidden inside.
The long-haired beauty within had shimmering eyes, and her lips were swollen and red.

Ji Nansheng and the other four were cautiously exploring the corridor when they suddenly heard a sharp, quick set of footsteps behind them.
The sound grew closer, as if it were headed straight toward them.
Curious, the five of them turned their heads, only to see the beautiful Countess running frantically toward them, her hair in disarray. Panic was written all over her face, her eyes wild with fear as she frequently glanced behind her, as if some terrifying creature were chasing her.
When she saw people ahead, a glimmer of joy flashed across the Countess’s face. She quickened her steps and rushed over to hide behind them. “Save me, there’s a monster chasing me.”
Her voice was broken and shaky, with a faint nasal tone.
Ji Nansheng quietly observed the Countess’s appearance.
Her swollen lips and somewhat disheveled clothes seemed to tell them that the Countess had just been assaulted.
Her already fair face was now even paler, and at the corners of her eyes hung teardrops that had yet to fall. Her long lashes like tiny fans trembling in the air, making her look really pitiful.
The girl in the floral dress immediately moved closer to comfort her, “Don’t be afraid, Countess. Tell us what happened?”
The Countess’s slender hand trembled as she pointed toward the dark corridor. “I was dancing in the ballroom when a terrifying monster suddenly dragged me into the corridor and tried to violate me. I was terrified and I used all my strength to escape.”
“I am the Countess. The Count sent a team of soldiers to protect me. If you protect me and help me escape from that monster, the Count will surely reward you.”
The muscular man stomped his foot in frustration. “Damn, so that man earlier was a monster! I thought you two were having an affair and didn’t want to interrupt.”
Upon hearing this, the already pale face of the Countess turned even whiter. She looked at the muscular man in sorrow, her expression on the verge of tears. “What nonsense are you saying? I love the Count deeply, there is only him in my heart. How could I ever betray him? I’d rather die.”
“You saw that monster assaulting me earlier? Why didn’t you help me? Why?” Tears finally fell from the Countess’s eyes, her despair and sorrow affecting everyone around her. “Is it just because the Count and I have a forty-year age gap that people believe we can’t have true love? How narrow-minded and despicable the world’s view is. So, this is how you’ve seen me all along.”
Guilt washed over everyone, including Ji Nansheng.
Ji Nansheng lowered his head in shame, suddenly finding it hard to meet the sharp, starry eyes of the Countess, eyes that were full of life.

Low footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor.
The Countess’s face was immediately filled with fear and she grabbed Ji Nansheng’s hand. “Hurry, the monster is coming.”
Everyone was startled. The five protected the Countess and ran down the corridor.
After running for an unknown amount of time, the young man with glasses said through heavy pants, “Stop, we’ve reached the place.” Everyone then came to a halt.
Ji Nansheng looked up and saw that the once narrow corridor had come to an end, with a corner ahead. He cautiously peeked around the corner and discovered a small door guarded by two soldiers, standing sternly.
The Countess’s cheeks were slightly flushed from running, looking as beautiful as a peach blossom in spring.
She leaned against the wall, breathing lightly, and after her fear subsided, her elegant composure returned. “Thank you all, it seems we’ve shaken off the monster.”
The girl asked with concern, “What does the monster look like?”
A look of fear flashed in the Countess’s eyes. “It’s very strong, from a distance it looks like a human, but up close, it’s completely different.”
“Its skin looks like it’s covered in fish scales, its body is cold, and its skin is green. Its face is like the ugly fish that live in the deep sea, and its mouth is full of jagged fangs. It’s very strong and it easily lifted me up with one hand. That monster is truly terrifying. It might be the siren the Count spoke of.”
The brief moment of guilt vanished, and Ji Nansheng’s inner detective came to life.
He scrutinized the Countess. “Why did it target you? You said this monster took you from the ballroom. If it looks so hideous and terrifying, why didn’t anyone notice? Didn’t your soldiers see it?”
The pink in the Countess’s cheeks faded, replaced by paleness. “I don’t know. When it appeared, all I could think about was screaming and running, but I couldn’t make a sound. It’s as if everyone was blinded by the monster and couldn’t see it at all.”
Ji Nansheng pressed on, “If the monster is so strong, how did you escape from its control?”
“Are you doubting me?” The Countess gave a bitter smile and pulled out a luxurious, sharp dagger from between her thighs. “If I said I used this, would you believe me?”
“Why would the Countess carry a dagger with her?” the girl asked in shock.
The Countess: “Do you think I became the Countess just by relying on my beauty and the Count’s favor? Swear by the esteemed majesty that you won’t reveal a word of what I’m about to tell you.”
The muscular man immediately responded, “Alright, we swear by His majesty.”
The others exchanged glances before also making their oaths.
After everyone made their promises, the Countess lowered her voice and spoke mysteriously, “In fact, our Dream Star has entered the siren’s territory. The Count has kept this a secret to avoid causing panic among the guests, but I fear the truth won’t stay hidden for long. Eventually, everyone will know.”
