Chapter 689.1
Chapter 689.1
Snake God Mountain stretched and twisted, and a group of people entered the dense forest.
Leading the group was a young man dressed entirely in black, with a long cloak and pants wrapping him tightly.
The young man held a sharp scythe in his hand, cutting away the wildly growing branches as he walked.
Following him was a group of girls, and behind them was another young man.
This young man was wearing a pristine white shirt. While the others seemed like they were on an adventure, he looked like he was on a vacation.
He quietly followed behind the group, his eyes constantly roaming over the girls.
His mouth opened and closed, and his brows furrowed subtly.
‘What was going on?’
‘After consuming so many snake eggs, by this time they should have given birth.’
‘How were they still so full of energy?’
‘And their stomachs, why weren’t they showing?’
As he pondered this, one of the girls in front stumbled a bit, and the young man quickly reached out to support her, a gentle smile appearing on his face, his voice soft and full of concern, “Min Min, be careful.”
The girl’s clenched fist was hidden in her sleeve as she leaned slightly into the young man’s arms. “Ah, Brother Qing, my foot hurts.”
The young man quickly crouched down with concern, “What happened? Did you twist it?”
Min Min: “No, just tired.”
Man Man followed with a hum, “Do you think you’re the only one who’s tired? Brother Qing, I’m tired too.”
As she spoke, Man Man placed her hand on the young man’s shoulder, “How long have we been walking?”
A bit overwhelmed, the young man hurriedly reached out to support Man Man, “Tired? Let me help you.”
The short-haired girl also stopped and moved closer, leaning against the young man’s shoulder, “Brother Qing, why are you only taking care of Min Min and Man Man? I’m tired too!”
The long-haired girl pouted as she approached, “What about me? How could you all forget me?”
The smile on the young man’s face was harder to suppress than an AK. He fumbled to handle the four girls in their prime, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
Min Min’s stomach growled, and she twisted her waist in annoyance, “Brother Qing, I’m hungry.”
Man Man: “I’m hungry too.”
Short-haired girl: “Brother Qing, is there anything to eat around here?”
Long-haired girl: “Doesn’t your family specialize in collecting dragon meat? Brother Qing, why don’t you find us some dragon meat to eat?”
The young man was completely enchanted, and he nodded eagerly, “Yes, yes, yes, Brother Qing will take you to find some dragon meat right away.”
He then shouted to the young man walking in front, “Hey, stop walking that way! Can’t you see they’re all tired?”
Bai Lixin stopped, stood on the high mountain path and looked down.
The blazing sunlight poured over him, enveloping half his body in white light.
Dong Qing squinted and could only see the blinding light, unable to make out the young man’s expression.
He had no choice but to shout again, “If you want to keep walking, do it on your own!”
This sentence seemed to have the opposite effect, as the young man, who had walked some distance ahead, turned back and rejoined the group.
Dong Qing looked up, realizing only then that the young man in black didn’t have a single drop of sweat on his smooth forehead.
The scythe in his hand reflected the sunlight, blinding and sharp with an oppressive presence.
Dong Qing’s voice softened, “The white snake won’t appear at this time.”
Bai Lixin: “Did it tell you that?”
Dong Qing nearly choked, “It’s too hot now. People who’ve seen the white snake usually do so when the weather is cooler. Maybe around four or five in the afternoon, we might have a chance.”
That morning, Dong Qing came early to the Snake God Inn and blocked them just before they set off.
At the time, Dong Qing had asked why they were heading up Snake God Mountain, and Bai Lixin had answered that he wanted to find the white snake.
Bai Lixin was here for the snake, but what the four girls were after, Dong Qing didn’t know. “They ate plenty of breakfast. Why are they hungry again so soon?”
Bai Lixin frowned, “I didn’t bring any food. Is there anything edible in the mountains?”
“There is,” Dong Qing hesitated, “but…”
Min Min shook Dong Qing’s arm, “Brother Qing, I’m really hungry.”
Man Man whispered coquettishly, “Brother Qing, when are you going to find us something to eat?”
Short-haired girl: “Hurry up.”
Long-haired girl: “Exactly.”
One after another, the four girls chimed in. Which man wouldn’t get confused?
Dong Qing quickly dropped his hesitation, “Alright, I’ll take you to find some dragon meat!”
The four girls looked at each other, then winked at Bai Lixin while urging Dong Qing to lead the way.
Dong Qing, a seasoned dragon meat hunter, skillfully led them through the forest, winding their way until they reached a dense thicket.
Bai Lixin smelled a foul stench coming from deep within the thicket.
The girls, however, took a deep breath and closed their eyes in delight, “What a wonderful smell.”
“Brother Qing, you’re amazing.”
“Sure enough, following Brother Qing means we’ll have food to eat.”
“Brother Qing, you’re the best.”
Dong Qing was so flattered. He left them with a, “Wait here,” before pushing aside the thick branches and walking inside.
As soon as Dong Qing left, the smiles on the girls’ faces vanished, replaced by cold, sharp gazes directed at his back.
Bai Lixin glanced at the girls and then at Dong Qing’s cheerful figure.
It was obvious the old fool had no idea what was about to happen to him.
Bai Lixin’s wrist began to heat up. He pulled up his sleeve and found that the once black snake totem was glowing red. The snake was restless on his wrist and every time it slithered across his wrist, the movement caused his skin to sting.
Through the gaps in the leaves, Bai Lixin saw a cave hidden deep within the forest.
Dong Qing was clearly familiar with the area, and quickly entered the cave. Not long after, he re-emerged.
But when he came back, he wasn’t empty-handed. He was carrying a bundle of something in his arms.
Dong Qing retraced his steps, but his expression was somewhat panicked.
Before the girls started pouring ecstasy soup, Dong Qing hurriedly said, “Let’s go.”
No one knew what he was avoiding, but they still followed him away from the area.
It wasn’t until they returned to the mountain path that Dong Qing, who was now panting heavily, stopped and presented the thing in his arms to the girls as if they were a treasure: “Look, dragon meat.”
He was holding a black, mucus-covered placenta in his arms.
The placenta was wrapped in a ball, and something could faintly be seen wriggling inside.
The girls took two steps back in unison.
Man Man frowned, “Is this dragon meat? It looks kind of disgusting.”
Min Min: “But it smells really good.”
Dong Qing smiled awkwardly, “That proves the dragon meat is fresh. Only fresh dragon meat looks like this. Otherwise, why don’t we go back down the mountain? We can eat the dragon meat stew my mom made.”
Min Min quickly stopped him, “Brother Qing, I’m starving. I can’t wait until we get down the mountain. Didn’t we pass a small river on the way here? Just roast it for us. Please, okay?”
The other girls hurriedly chimed in.
“Alright then.” Dong Qing once again agreed to the girls’ suggestion and carried the dragon meat to the riverbank.
The river water was crystal clear. Dong Qing carefully cleaned the surface of the placenta by the river.
He took out a sharp small knife from his waist and gently sliced open the placenta, revealing the plump, square “dragon meat” inside.
The meat was dark red, with a firm texture, making one’s mouth water just looking at it.
It was hard to imagine that beneath the ugly, slimy placenta was such delicious meat.
Dong Qing handed a piece of raw meat to Min Min: “Raw dragon meat is actually edible too, it’s very fresh. Try it.”
Min Min hid behind Man Man, “Really? Brother Qing, have you eaten raw dragon meat before?”
Dong Qing hesitated for a moment, “Of course I have.”
“Oh,” Min Min’s almond-shaped eyes lifted slightly, “But I’m too scared to eat it. Why don’t you cook it for me?”
Dong Qing retracted his hand, “Alright then.”
There was plenty of dry grass by the riverbank, and without much effort, they gathered enough to form a bonfire.
Dong Qing found a few tree branches to use as skewers, threading the pieces of dragon meat onto them one by one. After lighting the fire with a lighter, he placed the skewers over the flames to roast.
The originally dark red dragon meat soon turned a golden yellow.
Dong Qing sat on a rock, quietly roasting the dragon meat. Before he realized it, the four girls had gathered around him.
Min Min casually picked up a piece of the now golden dragon meat and brought it to her nose to smell: “It smells amazing.”
As she said this, she naturally picked up the dagger Dong Qing had set aside, using the tip to lift a piece of dragon meat off the skewer.
Min Min waved the meat in front of Dong Qing’s face, “Brother Qing, can you smell how good it is?”
Dong Qing’s gaze unconsciously drifted to Min Min’s slightly rounded belly, “Of course it smells good. Didn’t you say you were hungry earlier? Hurry up and eat.”
Min Min leaned against Dong Qing’s shoulder, bringing the dragon meat closer to his mouth, almost touching his lips, “Brother Qing, you’ve been busy for so long. You should have the first bite.”
Dong Qing’s face turned pale, and he leaned back to avoid the golden piece of dragon meat, “I’m not hungry, you… mmph!”
Before he could finish speaking, Min Min suddenly shoved the meat into his mouth.
Dong Qing’s pupils contracted sharply, and he instinctively tried to spit the meat out.
Min Min’s beautiful face suddenly moved closer, “Brother Qing, I suggest you don’t move your tongue carelessly. This dagger is no joke.”
Dong Qing’s body stiffened, his wide eyes locked on Min Min. He subconsciously opened his mouth to speak: “Min Min, you… mmph!”
Taking advantage of his open mouth, Min Min pushed the dagger even further inside.
The tip of his tongue could clearly feel the hard, metallic texture, and Dong Qing’s face turned green.
“Brother Qing, you’d better stay still,” Min Min smiled, “Blades don’t have eyes.”
As Dong Qing maintained his stiff posture, Min Min pulled the dagger out in satisfaction.
The blade was now empty—the piece of dragon meat remained in Dong Qing’s mouth.
Dong Qing whimpered and tried to spit it out. But as soon as he opened his mouth, the girls around him quickly stuffed more meat in.
Not only did he fail to spit out the dragon meat, but now there were several more pieces in his mouth.
At this point, Dong Qing finally understood what the girls were trying to do.
He wanted to speak, but his mouth was firmly covered by Man Man.
He tried to struggle, but his arms were pinned down by the short-haired girl.
He wanted to escape, but a dagger was pressed against his legs.
He felt like prey trapped in a spider’s web, and these girls were the spider demons in the lair.
Something inside his mouth started to writhe. Dong Qing’s eyes widened, his body twisting in fear, and he let out muffled whimpers of terror.
