After learning how to ski, Jiang Li felt like she was invincible. But once she actually got going, she realized there was still a big difference between a beginner and a seasoned skier.

It was obvious Tong Yi was going easy on her—she could tell at a glance. Realizing she was bound to lose, she stopped trying to force it and simply came to a halt.

Tong Yi skied back and stopped beside her, grinning. “Giving up?”

Jiang Li shook her head. “I’m just ending the race. Doesn’t count as giving up.”

Tong Yi raised an eyebrow. “There’s a difference?”

Jiang Li nodded. “Of course there is. I’m just ending this race. We’ll decide the winner in the next one.”

“When’s the next race?” Tong Yi pressed.

“I haven’t thought about that yet. I’ll let you know when I do,” Jiang Li smoothly replied.

Tong Yi: “…”

Yeah, he could tell Jiang Xiao Li was just playing dirty.

“If Third Master Feng found out how good you are at cheating, I bet he’d be surprised,” he teased.

Jiang Li laughed. “I always cheat my uncle—he wouldn’t be surprised at all.”

Hearing that, the corners of Tong Yi’s lips lifted unconsciously. He suddenly felt that Jiang Xiao Li being comfortable enough to act spoiled around him was actually kind of nice.

Skiing side to side, the two slowly headed back to the rest area. Just as they neared the exit, someone suddenly rushed in from the side and collided in Jiang Li’s direction.

Under normal circumstances, Jiang Li could have dodged with ease. But out on the ski slope, no matter how fast her reflexes were, there was no escaping it.

Just as the person was about to crash into her, Tong Yi pulled her into his arms and switched their positions in an instant.

The person slammed into Tong Yi’s back, making him let out a low grunt. But as they both fell, he quickly shifted again, cushioning the fall so that Jiang Li landed on top of him.

Once they hit the ground, Jiang Li immediately scrambled off him in a panic. “Tong Yi, are you okay?”

The girl who had crashed into them also stopped and hurriedly apologized to Tong Yi, offering to take him to the medical station.

But Tong Yi ignored her completely, his eyes fixed on Jiang Li. He had never seen her look so flustered before. The more he looked, the more amused he became, and he couldn’t help but chuckle. “If something did happen to me, would you cry for me?”

Seeing that he could still joke around, Jiang Li felt less panicked, though she was still worried. “Can you stand?”

A sudden idea struck Tong Yi. Fighting the urge to get up immediately, he gave Jiang Li a frown. “Seems a bit hard. Mind giving me a hand?”

The girl who had hit him quickly stopped him, “No, don’t force yourself to move. Better wait for the medics.”

But Jiang Li ignored her. She placed her hand on Tong Yi’s shoulder and tried to help him up. If he’d dislocated anything, she’d be able to tell.

Tong Yi hesitated for a moment, then wrapped his arm around her shoulders. He had originally planned to get up while Jiang Xiao Li supported him. But because of his height and the bulky ski gear, not only did he fail to get up, but he ended up pulling Jiang Li down with him—again landing on top of him. As she fell, the corner of her lips brushed across his cheek…

Jiang Li was stunned.

As their eyes met, she suddenly noticed that Tong Yi had surprisingly long lashes, and his nose was especially straight. Compared to the immature boy at their first meeting, the young man in front of her now had well-defined features—somewhere between a teenager and a man, and honestly, kind of good-looking.

Tong Yi felt his cheeks burn. Seeing Jiang Xiao Li staring at him like that, his Adam’s apple moved unconsciously.

‘Jiang Xiao Li has just… kissed me.’

Even if it was an accident, he couldn’t stop his heart from racing. This feeling was completely different from his dreams—because, unlike the dream, here in reality, he didn’t dare take it any further.

Jiang Li reacted quickly. She stood up from Tong Yi and asked worriedly, “Y-you… are you alright? Can you walk?”

Tong Yi didn’t want her to worry, so he shook his head. “I think I can manage on my own. Just support me a bit.”

Hearing that, Jiang Li held onto one of his arms to provide a support point and waited for him to stand up on his own.

Tong Yi got up quickly, but Jiang Li still looked uneasy. “Does it hurt where you were hit just now? Let’s go back and get it checked.”

Seeing her suddenly so gentle, Tong Yi found himself reluctant to let go of this feeling. He moved his leg slightly, pretending to frown, “I don’t think it’s serious. Let’s wait and observe after we get back.”

The girl who had crashed into him immediately spoke up, “It’s better to go to the medical station now—maybe get an X-ray, just to be sure nothing’s wrong with your bones.”

She had bumped her helmeted head into his back, and even with the helmet, her head hurt. His back must’ve taken an even harder hit. If there was a problem, it’d be better to catch it early, lest the injuries worsen.

Wen Wan and Lin Zhao had been chatting, but the commotion drew their attention. Upon hearing that Tong Yi might be injured, both of them immediately showed concern.

Jiang Li continued supporting Tong Yi. “Let’s go to the medical station. Even if your bones are fine, we should at least get it looked up, then get some ointment for swelling and pain relief.”

“…” Now Tong Yi found himself in a dilemma. He’d probably overdone it a bit, but now that he was in it, he couldn’t stop midway. If Jiang Xiao Li found out he was faking, he’d be in serious trouble!

This girl had once said she liked men who were mature, composed, gentle, and slightly cunning—did he meet the last criteria now?

“Alright, let’s go have it checked out.” Tong Yi said to Jiang Li, trying to soften his voice, “But I really don’t think it’s anything serious.”

After removing their gear, the group went to the medical station. Wen Wan even suggested bringing a stretcher for Tong Yi, which he immediately and firmly refused.

At the medical station, the doctor checked Tong Yi’s back and found nothing major, but to be safe, an X-ray was taken. After reviewing it, the doctor looked at Tong Yi and said, “It’s nothing serious. Just some bruising on the back. As long as you apply the ointment regularly, it should go away in a few days.”

After getting the ointment, Tong Yi pulled out his phone to pay. The girl who had hit him quickly spoke up, “It’s my fault you got hurt. Let me cover the cost.”

“No need. I’ll pay for it myself,” Tong Yi said, shaking his head. He had known from the start it wasn’t anything serious—he just couldn’t resist playing it up in front of Jiang Xiao Li. That’s why his conscience wouldn’t let him make someone else foot the bill.

The girl was briefly stunned, then blushed. “But I still feel bad… How about we exchange contact info, and I’ll treat you to a meal later?”

Jiang Li glanced at Tong Yi, then at the girl, and nodded. “I think treating him to a meal sounds great. He loves hotpot—but don’t order a split pot, because he’s got no manners. He always dumps the spicy broth stuff into the clear side. Rude, isn’t it? Most people can’t stand it.”

Got hit and won’t let her cover the medical bill? Yeah right—someone’s clearly looking for an excuse to stay in touch!

This girl’s actually quite pretty—though a bit short—but that just made for a cute height difference. Not bad at all.

Tong Yi: “…”

Fine, he did have that habit—but only because Jiang Xiao Li liked the spicy broth even though it was too hot for her. He’d just dip the spicy stuff into the mild side before handing it to her. And now she was calling him rude?

Jiang Li walked over and took Wen Wan’s arm. “You must be tired after skiing for so long, right?”

“I didn’t really ski much.” Wen Wan shook her head. “I tried for a while and couldn’t get the hang of it, so I went to rest with Lin Zhao.”

‘Next time, I’m definitely skipping any trip that involves technical stuff!’ She vowed silently. ‘Not worth the feeling of being left out!’

Jiang Li let out an “oh,” then said, “Let’s go back to the hotel and rest. We’re going to the hot springs tomorrow.”

Wen Wan: “…”

Why does it feel like Jiang Li’s acting a bit off today?
