Chapter 120 Part 1 – Nine Pack Abs (I)

The housekeeper dutifully followed Old Master Feng’s orders and tried to contact Feng Qi, but a few minutes later, he returned looking helpless.

Old Master Feng frowned at him. “What’s that look for? You couldn’t reach the third child?” A’Qi spent all day in his research institute. If he happened to be in the middle of an experiment, it would be quite normal for anyone to be unable to reach him.

The housekeeper hesitated for a few seconds, nearly igniting Old Master Feng’s temper, before he reluctantly spoke. “I got through, but Third Master said… said he was very busy.”

Old Master Feng was stunned for a moment before asking, “Those were his exact words?”

The old housekeeper showed an awkward expression. “Not exactly.”

Old Master Feng snorted. “Then repeat what he actually said. I want to hear exactly what he said.”

The old housekeeper said helplessly, “Third Master said that if there’s something important at home that needs to be handled, it’s best you talk to the eldest master. He could handle it too, but he’s afraid it won’t be to your satisfaction and might end up making you angry.”

Old Master Feng: “…”

After Feng Qi stopped coming home, the old master knew he was holding his temper. But now it seemed the temper ran deeper than he had imagined.

The housekeeper immediately saw the old master was in a bad mood, and cautiously offered, “Shall I try calling Third Master again with a different excuse, see if he’ll come back then?”

Old Master Feng’s eyes widened. “If he doesn’t want to come back, then let him stay away. Am I supposed to beg him to return? No need to call him again. I don’t believe he can stay away forever.”

Soon would be Xiao Jiang Li’s winter break. Once she was home for her break, no one would need to give him a call—that boy would come back on his own!

Having worked for the Feng family for decades, the housekeeper knew the old master’s temperament well. “There’s no need to beg,” he said with a smile. “Just change the wording, and Third Master will definitely come back.”

Old Master Feng raised an eyebrow. “What wording?”

“I’ll call and say that kid from the Tong family is scheming against our Miss Jiang Li, and you’re asking him to come back to decide what to do. He’ll definitely return.” The housekeeper suggested.

Old Master Feng didn’t agree. “That’s not changing the wording to get him back—that’s tricking him. When he comes back and finds out you lied, you think he won’t leave immediately?”

The housekeeper explained, “That Tong family kid is spreading rumors that his cousin did that thing just to win favor with Miss Jiang Li. If you, sir, really believed that rumor, you’d probably have a bad impression of her. So technically, he is scheming against our young lady.”

Old Master Feng frowned. “Do I look like someone who’s easily swayed by gossip? Even if Xiao Yi did do it, it has nothing to do with Xiao Jiang Li. I’m not brain-dead—why would I blame her?”

“…” The housekeeper wisely chose silence. Indeed, that was hard to argue with, though the old master did get furious when he first found out Third Master was behind Jiang Zhou’s arrest.

Old Master Feng immediately saw what the housekeeper was thinking and snorted coldly. “I got angry with A’Qi because he’s that stupid brat’s uncle. As an elder, if he had just intervened a bit… Forget it, not worth talking about now. I’ve thought it through—even if A’Qi had tried to stop him, that brat would still have done those beastly crimes!”

The old housekeeper didn’t argue. He smiled and said, “Of course you wouldn’t be angry at Miss Jiang Li, but the Third Master doesn’t know that. So if we say the Tong family boy is scheming against her, he’ll definitely rush back as quickly as possible.”

Old Master Feng fell silent for a few seconds, then nodded. “You go talk to him yourself. Let him handle this. I trust he’ll take it seriously.”

With A’Qi’s personality, as long as he thought Tong Xu was scheming against Xiao Jiang Li, he wouldn’t let that kid off easily.

When Feng Qi got another call from the family’s housekeeper, he listened quietly to the explanation. After a few seconds of silence, he asked, “Dad thinks this is connected to Xiao Lizi?”

The elderly housekeeper immediately replied, “How could the old master suspect Miss Jiang Li? He just feels that Tong family kid is out of line for daring to target her—he’s just angry about that.”

Feng Qi tapped his fingers lightly on the desk. “And he wants me to handle this?”

“That’s what the old master said. He also said he trusts you, and that you’ll definitely take care of everything properly,” the housekeeper’s tone was very polite, almost ingratiating.

Feng Qi: “…”

That didn’t sound like his old man at all—who knew how much the housekeeper had sugar-coated it?

But Feng Qi didn’t call him out. “Fine, I’ll handle it. It should be done in about two hours. I’ll come back home for dinner tonight.”

As soon as he said that, the old housekeeper smiled broadly. “Very well, sir. I’ll tell the kitchen to prepare your favorite dishes.”

Well, now he only had to deliver this good news to the old master. Knowing the Third Master was coming back for dinner tonight, even if he didn’t say it out loud, the old master would definitely be delighted.

After ending the call, Feng Qi immediately rang his assistant and instructed him to start the plan against Tong Xu in two days. Given their family ties, he had already given Tong Xu a chance—but the fool still went ahead and made that move.

In truth, when he received the first call from the housekeeper, Feng Qi had already guessed that his father had caught wind of the rumors. His initial refusal had just been a way to gauge his father’s reaction. Now that he was certain the old man didn’t suspect Xiao Lizi, he could finally relax.

After briefing his assistant, Feng Qi called Jiang Li. When the call connected, he heard another young girl’s voice on the line.

“Jiang Li, are you really going to wear such a conservative swimsuit in the hot spring? I think…”

Probably because Xiao Lizi quickly covered the phone, Feng Qi didn’t catch the rest. He chuckled and asked, “You’re going to a hot spring?”

Jiang Li took the phone out to the balcony. “Yeah, we went skiing today, and we’re planning to visit the hot springs tomorrow.”

“If you like hot springs, I can take you to Suiyun Manor during winter break. The water there is quite nice.”

Most of the time, Feng Qi was busy with experiments, and when he had free time, he exercised. Leisure activities like hot springs were rare for him. But if his niece enjoyed it, then during the break, the family could take a trip to the resort and relax a bit.

Jiang Li laughed. “I came with friends this time. As for whether I like it or not, I’ll have to try it to know.”

“Alright, enjoy yourselves. I just called to tell you that after Tong Xu spread those rumors, they reached your grandfather’s ears.”

Jiang Li instinctively gripped her phone tightly, then after a while asked, “Was Grandpa… very angry?”

Feng Qi chuckled softly. “He already believed my story. He got mad back then and is over it now. There’s no way he’d suspect you. Just make sure you don’t let anything slip when you get home.”

Jiang Li sighed. “Uncle, you’re so good to me—I really don’t know how to express my gratitude.”

Feng Qi teased, “Aren’t you going to repay me?”

Jiang Li thought for a few seconds and said, “I’ll take care of you in your old age!”

Feng Qi: “…”

Thank goodness it’s just taking care of him in old age, not sending him off at the end of his life—his heart might not have taken it otherwise.

“Uncle, why are you suddenly quiet?”

Feng Qi cleared his throat and said helplessly, “Xiao Lizi, I think I should remind you—I’m only fourteen years older than you. I probably won’t need you to look after me in my old age.”

Jiang Li froze for a second, then realized he was hung up on the age difference. She quickly said, “Of course you’re not old! And even if you grow old someday, I won’t be all that young either. We can go traveling and enjoy life together—it could be like an early retirement.”

Feng Qi thought about the life she described and found it rather nice. “Alright, we’ll talk about it when we’re older. I need to get ready to head back home and see your grandpa. Let’s chat next time.”

After hanging up, Jiang Li turned around and saw Wen Wan standing next to her. “Why do you always pop up out of nowhere?”
