Chapter 145 Part 1 – Tong Yi’s Sharp Tongue (I)
Witnessing Feng Yun’s series of actions, Jiang Huai’s eyes widened in disbelief. In the past half year, he had already seen all kinds of madness from her, but he never imagined Feng Yun could go this far.
A few years ago, he and Feng Yun had watched a piece of local news together: a man had cheated on his wife with a colleague. After finding out, his wife slipped him sleeping pills, and while he was unconscious, she cut off his manhood, claiming she was “confiscating the crime tool.”
At that time, Feng Yun had been so frightened by the news that she turned pale. He had comforted her, even teasing her for being too timid.
Yet today, years later, Feng Yun had done the very thing that once terrified her, and she did it without so much as a flicker of emotion. When she looked at Jiang Huai, it was as if she were observing a frog being dissected.
Jiang Huai thought she was even crueler than the woman from the news, because at least that woman had called emergency services in time, allowing doctors to perform surgery on the man.
Yet Feng Yun, without the smallest sign of emotion, produced a jar of sulfuric acid and put his…into it.
Jiang Huai knew she wasn’t lying, because the jar was transparent. He could clearly see the chemical reaction happening inside.
He stared at her, nearly crazed. “Why would you do this?”
Feng Yun’s lips curved slightly. “Why? Didn’t I just tell you the reason? Didn’t you hear me clearly?”
Her gaze was icy as she spoke: “If you hadn’t cheated twenty years ago, if you hadn’t swapped out my Xiao Li for Jiang Ruo, then A’Zhou wouldn’t have fallen for Jiang Ruo, and he wouldn’t have gone to prison for her. You were the one who started it all—shouldn’t you be punished?”
Jiang Huai: “…”
Yes, it was all his fault, and he had long since admitted it.
But Feng Yun… how could she do something so utterly deranged?!
He began struggling violently, but during the time he had been unconscious, Feng Yun had already chained his hands and feet. No matter how hard he pulled, the chains held firm, quickly cutting into his wrists and ankles, leaving them red and raw.
He didn’t scream, because he knew how well this master bedroom was soundproofed. Even if he shouted until his throat tore, no one outside would hear. It would just be wasted effort.
If he wanted to survive, he had to beg Feng Yun’s mercy. As long as she was willing to call an ambulance, he still had a chance.
Feng Yun sighed. “Stop struggling, it’s useless. But don’t worry, you won’t die. I’ve learned some basic first aid these past few days. I can stop the bleeding for you.”
With that, she picked up some tools and began a crude attempt at hemostasis.
At that moment, Jiang Huai hated her with all his being, but he didn’t dare show a trace of it. When she leaned close, he didn’t dare resist, didn’t dare provoke her.
Even if he was no longer a man, he still wanted to live. While she treated his wounds, he clenched his teeth, fists tight, veins bulging on his arms, enduring to the extreme.
His bleeding hadn’t been severe, so after a rough bandaging, Feng Yun stopped her hands and smiled. “The bleeding’s stopped for now. But I’m not very skilled, so the risk of infection is high.”
Jiang Huai: “…”
Her voice softened. “Do you know why I stopped the bleeding? Because I want you to live. I know you want to live too. But to live like this, worse than death—must be painful, right?”
Jiang Huai could no longer utter a word. For him, the physical pain was nothing compared to the torment of his soul.
If he could go back, he would never have seduced Feng Yun. Or, at the very least, after winning her over, he would have cut all contact with Jiang Ya.
But there was no turning back. Regret was the most useless emotion. His future would be spent in endless torment and suffering, year after year.
When he suddenly fell quiet, Feng Yun grew dissatisfied. After a few seconds of silence, she laughed again. Lowering her gaze, she said, “I can call emergency services and let you get proper treatment. But before that, you must answer one question.”
Jiang Huai looked at her weakly. “What trick are you playing now?”
She feigned surprise. “How can you call it a trick? I’m just giving you a chance to choose.”
He dared not anger her. “What choice?”
Feng Yun set aside the tools, peeled off her gloves, and tossed them into the trash. She turned into the bathroom, where he soon heard water running.
After about thirty seconds, she came out and said evenly, “After your scandal back then was exposed, Jiang Ruo left on her own. I never went after her. You know that, don’t you?”
Jiang Huai’s heart sank, though he kept his face calm. Seeing her unblinking gaze, he forced a smile. “Yunyun, I know you’re kind. You know Ruoruo is innocent. That’s why you never touched her, right?”
Feng Yun nodded with a smile. “At first, yes. At least before A’Zhou was arrested, I never blamed Jiang Ruo. After all, I raised her myself. She didn’t know her real mother was your mistress years ago.”
She hadn’t blamed Jiang Ruo, but she also couldn’t face the daughter of that mistress. So, after Jiang Ruo ran away, she never tried to find her.
But after her son’s arrest, she no longer believed Jiang Ruo was innocent. Even if the kidney-robbery case had been planned by A’Zhou and Bai Guolin alone, and Jiang Ruo knew nothing of it, her very existence was a sin. Feng Yun could never forgive her.
Now A’Zhou was serving a fifteen-year sentence, while Jiang Ruo remained a spotless, upstanding citizen. How ironic!
Hearing Feng Yun’s words, Jiang Huai dared not show any concern for Jiang Ruo. His voice was weak as he said, “I know it was Jiang Ya and I who wronged you. As for Ruoruo… she shouldn’t have existed in the first place. If you want to go after her, I won’t stop you.”
Feng Yun’s expression turned mocking. “Stop me? Do you even have that ability?”
Her question made Jiang Huai’s face turn ashen.
Yes, he had no such ability. He was a ruined man now, unable to even protect himself—how could he possibly protect his daughter?!
Looking down at him with cold superiority, Feng Yun said, “I just told you—I’ll let you make a choice. If you choose to let me trouble Jiang Ruo, I can dial the ambulance for you right now. The doctors won’t be able to reattach what you lost, but they can disinfect and treat you. That way, the risk of infection will be much lower. Don’t you agree?”
Before Jiang Huai could answer, she went on, “But you can also choose to have me leave Jiang Ruo alone. If you choose that, I won’t call emergency services. Think carefully.”
Jiang Huai: “…”
Feng Yun seemed to give him two options, but either choice risked triggering her fragile nerves.
If he chose to spare Ruoruo, she would think he still had feelings for Jiang Ya and might go even more madly after Ruoruo.
But if he chose to abandon his own daughter and beg Feng Yun to call him an ambulance, she might see him as heartless. And in her utter disappointment, would she really seek help for him?
Feng Yun instantly saw through his hesitation. Smiling, she said, “I keep my word. As soon as you decide, I’ll follow through. But you get only one chance. Once you choose, you can’t turn back.”
After a long silence, Jiang Huai rasped, “I… I want you… to call an ambulance.”
Feng Yun smiled. “When you were unconscious, I already called emergency services. By now, both the ambulance and police should be almost here.”
Jiang Huai: “…”
So even if he hadn’t made any choice, she still would have saved him! She had only asked the question to shatter his psychological defenses. Watching him writhe in torment must have been immensely satisfying for her!
The ambulance did arrive quickly. Jiang Huai was taken to the hospital, while Feng Yun was taken away by the police.
Before help came, Jiang Huai had forced himself to keep talking with Feng Yun. But once the doctors got him into the ambulance, he finally let go of his tense nerves and quickly lost consciousness.
When he awoke in the hospital, the doctors told him he had completely lost his function. But his life was no longer in danger, and with proper care, the risk of infection was relatively low.
Hearing this, Jiang Huai lay motionless on the hospital bed, eyes fixed on the ceiling, his mind racing with countless thoughts.
Before, when facing Feng Yun, his only thought had been to survive. But now that his life was secured, he realized his future was nothing but darkness.
Feng Yun had been taken away by the police, but he could not bring himself to press charges. If she really went to prison, he would be left to face his creditors alone, and the Feng family would never let him off either.
But if he didn’t press charges, Feng Yun would only grow bolder, finding crueler ways to torment him.
He was trapped in a dilemma, unable to decide, with no one to turn to for help.
