Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2288: Recognise me?

Chapter 2288: Recognise me?

Probably due to differences in country, many factions on the American continent tended to favor joint governance. In the early days, such factions found it easier to gain a foothold in the apocalypse, since pooling resources gave them better survival prospects. As for internal power struggles later on... well, they were used to that anyway.

After that couple left, Gold and Silver City adopted this model. The three leaders here were roughly equal in strength, and with the two strongest gone and none willing to yield to another, a joint leadership was the most suitable arrangement.

The one who had just arrived was one of the three leaders.

The warehouse was publicly owned by the entire city, with a clear merit system in place. The items inside could be exchanged for merits—so if the warehouse was looted, not only would the goods be lost, but the entire merit system would collapse.

The chain reaction would be severe, even directly threatening Gold and Silver City's stability.

In the apocalypse, one could say there were no rules, but sometimes, rules were what provided security.

"Who are you? You filthy thief!" The newcomer roared at Ye Zhongming.

Ye Zhongming smiled. This man was quite clever.

Being a top-tier evolved naturally meant he was no fool. Although he was furious at the warehouse theft and wanted to tear Ye Zhongming apart, upon entering and seeing the solid metal room gone, the energy defenses shattered, and a single person having infiltrated the heavily guarded warehouse silently, anyone who was not an idiot would realize that this intruder was a formidable opponent—one they might not be able to handle alone.

His shouting and yelling were only to buy time and wait for backup.

He was in no hurry to attack, and Ye Zhongming was in no hurry either, instead studying the entrance to the equipment's self-contained space with interest.

Within ten seconds, the warehouse was filled with guards, all raising their weapons at Ye Zhongming. Then the crowd parted, and two more people walked in, standing on the left and right of the first man.

All three leaders of Gold and Silver City were now present.

Ye Zhongming barely glanced at them, but when he saw the female leader, he paused briefly.

"Thief, you won't be leaving here today."

The first man was no longer roaring, but spoke with a calm, cold smile.

Ye Zhongming shook his head. "I'm not a thief. If you have to call me something, it's a robber."

The others were taken aback—they had seen arrogant people before, but never this arrogant. Looting turned into robbery? What gave him the nerve to say that?

"Who is carrying this piece of equipment?" Ye Zhongming asked casually.

He was now quite interested in this piece of equipment. Studying it might give him some inspiration.

"Not answering? Then a second question: who here has an entry ticket?"

"Still not talking?" Ye Zhongming sighed. "Is my English not standard?"

"You..." The man who had come in later, with a face full of beard, flashed with anger. His right hand instantly transformed into a massive black claw, lunging at this mask-wearing man who seemed far too arrogant.

But just as he unleashed this skill he prided himself on, he saw a beam of light pass through and rapidly expand before his eyes.

Although he had not been a nine-star for long, a top-tier was still a top-tier. Sensing something wrong, his body instantly beastified into a lion-headed, bear-bodied beastman, opening his mouth to unleash a war cry that would double the power of his bloodline.

But suddenly, he felt something pierce his head; the sound was not emitted but rather pushed back inside.

Then his chest also hurt; he could clearly feel a surge of energy invading his body.

The man then collapsed limply like a pile of mud.

Ye Zhongming, who had teleported in and then back, looked down at a palm print on his clothes, and regarded the man who had been shouting earlier with a newfound respect.

Ye Zhongming had seventy to eighty thousand Furelai, and when assaulting a peer-level opponent with only a few hundred Furelai, a one-hit kill was certain. But he had not expected this Gold and Silver City leader to counterattack in that instant.

Though the attack had been rushed—allowing only a single palm strike—it had not harmed Ye Zhongming, but it still surprised the Cloud Peak King.

At that moment, the limp nine-star evolver's body suddenly burst with a gush of blood, and those nearby scrambled to dodge.

A few seconds later, the corpse became shriveled, a gruesome end.

The warehouse fell into a dead silence.

A top-tier evolved... dead just like that?

Such a shock drove everyone backward, from being just a few meters from Ye Zhongming to the edges of the warehouse.

Ye Zhongming pointed at the middle man, then suddenly surged forward. Black mist emanated from his hands, transforming into two whips as he moved, lashing toward his target.

The man stomped his feet twice on the ground, and four exquisite metal short swords materialized around him, then turned into countless blade shadows, thrusting toward Ye Zhongming.

He chose to attack head-on.

The others in the warehouse also launched their attacks, all using their strongest abilities.

The two black mist whips swept through the air, and all incoming energies and skills—including the four metal short swords from the main leader—dissipated into nothing.

It was a breathtaking sight, beyond what many could have imagined.

The whips did not stop and instantly fell upon the leading man.

One whip struck his left shoulder, tearing off his left arm along with his equipment. The other whip struck his right chest, opening a gash there that looked as if it had been sliced, with blood gushing out.

The man tried to cover the wound with his remaining hand, but being a nine-star only gave him extraordinary vitality—it could not instantly heal the wound.

He desperately wanted to take out a potion, but the black mist whip came again, weaving past many intercepting skills and wrapping around his neck. Then, his head was separated from his body, and he could no longer scream.

The deaths of two top-tier powerhouses in quick succession shook the others greatly. They completely lost their will to fight and scattered like animals fleeing.

Ye Zhongming instantly transformed, unleashing a violent mental shockwave that shook all of Gold and Silver City. The mountain and the giant ape followed the black mist giant in a bloodbath across the city.

The unique geographical advantage had once given Gold and Silver City its former glory. Now, that lake had become the source of despair for many.

After just over an hour, the city had become a dead one.

Only one person was still alive.

Ye Zhongming, back in his original form, walked up to the one who had maintained the same posture since appearing and never moved, and said with a light laugh, "You recognized me, didn't you... Miss Ella."
