Chapter 2301: Chaos, decision and arriving

Cloud Peak's nine-star evolved mobilized almost in full force.

At its peak, the Demon Whale had first contended with Xia Bai and the Red Female Guard, as well as the Talking Lady and Black Cat combination. Although Cloud Peak had not gone all out, the Demon Whale had still held the upper hand.

Now, after days of continuous fighting, both sides were exhausted. The nine-star evolved had all entered battle, and more than half of them were wounded—some severely. The gains from such sacrifices were the deaths of four top-tier sea beast lifeforms.

Xia Bai's injuries had not healed in these past few days, nor had the Red Female Guard's.

The wounds inflicted by the Demon Whale's abilities were not easily dispelled.

Yangos was also injured. The evil dragon had exchanged its own severe wounds for the life of an aquatic top-tier lifeform.

Now, the only top-tier lifeforms in Cloud Peak capable of flying to engage the enemy were Red Hair, Undead Dragon Fish and Yangfeng, along with the Death King Tree, which could maintain full combat effectiveness against airborne top-tier lifeforms.

As for other weapons, the Loki Crosses had been kept in reserve, but the threat from magic crystal cannons and the like was much diminished, mainly because they had been heavily depleted in earlier battles.

The sea beasts, which had been on the verge of collapse, immediately steadied themselves. Superior Dragon's forces, which had been holding on in the rear, retreated and fled the instant they sensed the Demon Whale's presence.

After so many days of fighting, the humans had held the advantage throughout, and the arrival of the gene legion had all but sealed the victory. In terms of numbers, the sea beasts were now roughly equal to the humans—but that still meant seven figures, and under the Demon Whale's leadership, there was a good chance of a comeback.

After all, once the lines collapsed, the difference between a few million and a few tens of millions became negligible.

"It looks like today we'll have to go all out."

Xia Lei smiled calmly.

Yes, Cloud Peak was now in a passive position due to the Demon Whale's reappearance, but Xia Lei did not believe they would lose—it was just that people might die, and many of them.

Among Cloud Peak's top-tier forces, Xia Bai and the Red Female Guard were temporarily unable to fight—not because their injuries prevented them from moving, but because they were in poor condition and would have limited effectiveness if deployed.

Tang Tian was holding the fort at Cloud Peak. Yangos, the Giant Mottled Bear, and Steward Tong were seriously injured and had been sent back to Cloud Peak. Little Tiger, Liang Chuyin, Mo Ye, Xia Bai, the Red Female Guard, Deacon Water, Yellow Ball, the Talking Lady, and Black Cat were all wounded, their combat power diminished.

That was already quite a long list of wounded.

But the top-tier lifeforms that could still maintain peak combat effectiveness included Xia Lei, Guangyao, Jiubao, Yangfeng, Red Hair, the Undead Dragon Fish, the Death King Tree, and... the ever-hidden Chameleon, Zhao Xiangxue.

Eight top-tier lifeforms, plus roughly the same number of other nine-stars who were wounded but still retained some combat power—Xia Lei did not believe they would fear a single Demon Whale!

Yes, people might die, and more than one, but the final victory would surely belong to Cloud Peak.

Xia Lei's heart gradually hardened. After unifying the national region, she had slowly set aside the "ends-justify-the-means" style of the development period and begun to cherish the lives of every Cloud Peak warrior.

But now, in this battle that would determine Cloud Peak's fate, she decided that anyone could be sacrificed—including herself.

"Teacher Park?!"

A surprised voice cut through the tense atmosphere on the verge of eruption. Everyone looked over and saw Piao Xiuying emerge from the teleportation platform, walking toward them with a faint smile.

"I thought I might miss it, but it turns out there's still a final battle!"

Teacher Park, in her white robe, walked out calmly, serenely, drawing everyone's attention.

She gave off only one feeling.

Holiness.

"Goddess of Light?" Little Tiger's mouth opened and closed as he asked.

Park Xiuying, having reached nine stars and upgraded her profession to its highest level, glanced at the Demon Whale, which had taken notice of her arrival. She did not immediately answer Little Tiger's question, but instead raised her silver staff and murmured a few words to the sky.

Then, a light appeared in midair, at first resembling a flower bud, then blooming. As it did, countless light specks fell, merging into the evolvers they touched.

"My wounds... are healing!"

"Not just wounds!"

Many evolvers exclaimed in amazement, finding that both their physical injuries and depleted stamina and mental energy were rapidly recovering.

"Universal Grace" was the name of this ability.

Park Xiuying's first move stunned everyone, but she did not stop. She raised her staff again, this time targeting Xia Bai.

A beam of light struck Xia Bai, entering the Red Female Guard commander's body. The entry point was on her left side, but at the same time, the light emerged from Xia Bai's right side and extended to Liang Chuyin beside her, then to all the wounded top-tier beings.

"An upgrade to the Gentle Chain, right?" Liang Chuyin said, feeling the warm power flowing through her body.

She could feel her injuries improving.

This situation was naturally noticed by the Demon Whale above. It knew it could not wait any longer, or this newly arrived human might heal everyone.

It moved its body silently, its enormous form beginning to phase, then the entire whale instantly descended upon Cloud Peak's camp, striking directly at the gathering of top-tier lifeforms.

The Demon Whale's body in the sky seemed motionless, but during its descent, identical phased bodies continuously appeared, connecting the sky and ground with its ethereal form, as if countless Demon Whales were stacked together.

Many moved, though they were being healed, they had not relaxed their vigilance against the Demon Whale.

But the Demon Whale's seemingly formidable skill struck something and was instantly repelled.

Everyone turned their gaze to Park Xiuying.

Her other free hand had just lowered. In the direction it had pointed, a shield composed of countless hexagonal energy panels, covering nearly half the sky, protected the human line.

"Answer to Prayer." Park Xiuying smiled faintly. "It won't last long. If the Demon Whale's attack remains at that intensity, it can withstand two more hits. Oh, and it's one-way—you can attack through it."

"Awesome!"

Little Tiger and the others shouted while following Xia Lei's orders, unleashing all their long-range attacks, drowning the Demon Whale in the air.

On the ground, the human camp also moved first. The top-tier lifeforms naturally went to face the top-tier enemies; their task was to kill as many sea beasts as possible, leaving the Demon Whale increasingly isolated.

And so, this briefly paused battle reignited with fresh ferocity as both sides engaged once more.

Every lifeform, whether on land or sea, knew this was the final battle.
