Chapter 1696: Chapter 1028: Regretful Japanese Women
The frost spread across the deck, moving too fast.
It happened almost in an instant.
General Keane was the first to raise the alarm, but it was already too late.
The soldiers’ shoes were already frozen to the deck.
Their energy shields did not cover the soles of their feet.
But this was normal; unless a person was in mid-air, the energy shield wouldn’t envelop the entire body.
Usually, if there’s ground or something else beneath the feet, the shield probably won’t cover the feet.
This wasn’t a flaw of the shield, but rather an issue of combat mentality.
People like Liang Yuan, with cautious personalities, would protect even a strand of hair tightly.
Boom!
A loud explosion erupted, and the soldiers began firing at the deck.
Energy guns roared continuously, waves of high temperature swept through, and ice blocks melted rapidly.
However, the surrounding temperature kept dropping, and the heavy rain from the sky became increasingly cold.
In an instant, the raindrops turned into countless ice cones, clattering as they plummeted down.
General Keane was anxious, searching for the figure of Liang Yuan, but couldn’t find him.
No one noticed that the entire fleet’s ships were being consumed by shadows at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Wherever the shadow passed, all living beings were transformed into a two-dimensional state.
The first to notice this was a black man next to General Keane.
The black man pointed in terror at a distant comrade and shouted, “General, look!”
General Keane turned his head and his face changed suddenly; he shouted urgently, “Be careful, it’s a Dark Attribute ability!”
“Quick, release the light energy bomb!”
He screamed in anger and fear, and some soldiers immediately tried to run toward the ammunition depot.
But as soon as they left the crowd, they were instantly frozen in place.
A group of them working together could resist Liang Yuan’s Ice Attribute superpower.
However, any one of them stepping out alone couldn’t withstand Liang Yuan’s attacks.
Their individual strength was too weak.
As the shadow continued to spread, more and more people were swallowed by it, filling General Keane and his men with dread.
General Keane shouted, “Quick, have the gene beasts underwater attack!”
“Understood!”
As he continued to give orders, the genetic beasts they controlled via brain-computer interfaces began emerging from the sea.
Huge octopuses, terrifying squids, and giant sharks all surfaced from the water.
Yet, even as these mutant beasts emerged, they had no target.
Because Liang Yuan had already entered the shadow domain of the Dark Abyss Mouth, these genetic beasts naturally struggled to locate him.
And Liang Yuan was not shy, he absorbed every mutant beast into the Shadow World as they came.
These beasts held high research value, and Liang Yuan could just as well take them back for the R&D department to study their brain-computer interfaces.
A few minutes later, the ships were completely deserted.
All personnel had been thrown into the Shadow World by Liang Yuan.
Now, all these people from the Lighthouse Country had been turned into two-dimensional shadow creatures.
Liang Yuan then flew toward Ryukyu Island, where some of the Lighthouse’s Fire Dragon squad still lingered. He wasn’t about to let them off.
However, when he reached Ryukyu Island, a scene below made him frown slightly.
The flames consumed the trees, and the wooden and stone houses originally built by the Japanese were all set ablaze.
The Japanese women who earlier chose not to leave with him were now being pinned to the ground by several black and white men.
Their clothes had been stripped, and several Lighthouse soldiers were assaulting them, laughing maniacally.
The women cried out in agony, begging for rescue, while some lay like corpses, hopelessly weeping.
When Liang Yuan appeared in the sky, those women seemed to come back to life.
Some cried out to him for help.
“Help! Save us!”
“Mr. Liang, we were wrong, save us, please, save us.”
“These people are beasts, they’re devils, please, help us.”
Some of the women wept as they were tied to rocks.
Several Fire Dragons were guarding them.
Liang Yuan wasn’t holding grudges, he flicked his finger.
With a buzzing sound, the ground suddenly split open, and vines shot out, entangling the soldiers with a whoosh.
The soldiers, caught off guard, began to struggle in terror, attempting to use their superpowers and summon the Fire Dragons.
The lizard-like Fire Dragons quickly turned to fly toward Liang Yuan.
Liang Yuan merely glanced at them casually.
And with that single look, the Fire Dragons were so terrified they froze in place, their flames extinguished.
Crack, crack, crack…
The necks of the Lighthouse soldiers below were snapped by the vines, and Liang Yuan descended to survey the women.
The women, disregarding their nakedness, crawled toward Liang Yuan on their knees, begging and kowtowing.
“Mr. Liang, we were wrong, we realize our mistakes, please, take us with you, we don’t want to stay here.”
“Mr. Liang, we swear, we’ll listen to you from now on, whatever you say.”
“Mr. Liang, we know our mistake, only you are the good person, those people are beasts.”
Liang Yuan ignored them and asked, “What about the Japanese man I froze?”
Upon hearing this, one woman quickly said, “He escaped.”
“Mr. Liang, that bastard, he used Qingzi’s body to shield against the Fire Dragon’s breath, he’s a beast!”
As she said this, they pointed to a woman’s corpse.
Liang Yuan glanced at it; the body had turned into charred remains, evidently burned to death by the lizard Fire Dragon.
He felt no emotion, extending his Spiritual Power to search for Kawasaki Jun.
But it was apparent Kawasaki Jun had long since run away.
Liang Yuan wasn’t disappointed; he had kept the Japanese man alive in the hope of discovering more secrets about the Blood River Sword inside the Eight-headed Great Serpent.
The fact that the Japanese man escaped didn’t matter; he could always capture a few more of them.
With this thought, he glanced at the women on the ground and said flatly, “I gave you a chance.”
“There’s a saying, ‘Those who are not of our kin must surely have different hearts’—you already betrayed me once, I won’t give you a second chance.”
“I’m saving your lives now because you’re women, and I can’t stand those white and black soldiers.”
“But to take you with me? That’s not possible. You must fend for yourselves.”
Swish!
With that, Liang Yuan’s figure flashed and disappeared quickly.
The women on the ground saw this and their faces changed dramatically, wailing and crying incoherently.
They truly regretted it, realizing how egregiously wrong they were in not trusting Liang Yuan and instead choosing their compatriots.
But now, they understood how misguided their initial choice was.
Their compatriot, Kawasaki Jun, cared nothing for their survival and even used them as shields.
Now they wanted to go with Liang Yuan, but Liang Yuan wasn’t someone easily swayed.
Though Yangshan lacked a female population, these Japanese women were untrustworthy, and Liang Yuan wouldn’t give them another opportunity.
He left them to fend for themselves.
