Chapter 1963: Complacency

Chapter 1963: Complacency

"I have heard your plans and have some questions for you guys," Tang Shaoyang kept his neutral expression after hearing their plans. After deciding on a temporary team leader, they devised some plans for this mission.

He turned toward Khaya, "So you think it’s better to split the group into three groups and move independently?"

His team was quite a big team for an Administrator Team, with seven members if he was included. He would usually agree to split the group into three and clear the mission efficiently. However, the circumstances mattered, and this was an exception where splitting the group was a foolish move. Since Khaya was the leader, he assumed she had made the plan, as she was in charge of the team.

Khaya did not immediately answer him. She glanced at the other team members before looking him in the eyes, "I—"

"It’s not her idea to split the group, but it’s our idea," Castor cut off Khaya before she could say something.

Tang Shaoyang turned toward Castor, the first human calamity, "Who is "our"? Can you raise your hand?"

Almost everyone raised their hands except for Ira and the three snow elves. That was right, Khaya also raised her hand. There was no need for him to dig further to know what happened. He motioned his hand to his team member to lower their hands.

"What do you know about the Skywound Realm, Castor?"

Castor was caught off guard at first, trying to look around for friends, but no one tried to help him. Tang Shaoyang already got the answer even though Castor did not answer his question.

"The Skywound Realm is a dangerous abandoned world?"

Tang Shaoyang caught the hesitation and also the questioning tone in Castor’s voice. First, it seemed like they could not accept Khaya to lead them hence they came up with a stupid idea like this. Second, his team members grew complacent because they got it easy, and it was him to blame. He made the mission look easy, even when it involved the Emperor from the Void Cult.

"How dangerous, Castor?"

"Very... Very very dangerous?"

"You know it’s dangerous, so why do you want to split the team into three different groups?"

Castor was at ease and also thought there was nothing wrong with the plan, especially since most of the team members agreed. He quickly realized when his team captain started to question him.

"As Executive Clementine said, this is part of training for us, and I think it will be beneficial for us to move separately so we can get the maximum benefit from the training. Reducing our number would help us to fight more calamity."

Tang Shaoyang let out a small laughter that caused Castor to jolt. It was the playful laughter that his captain usually had when he did something silly. This was different, and he knew for sure he messed up.

As soon as the laughter ceased, Tang Shaoyang asked another question, "Does anyone here know that an Executive Administrator died in this place? An Executive Administrator who tried to clear this abandoned world was killed in the past, does anyone know about this?"

The question was no longer for Castor, and everyone raised their hands in the air with the exception of Castor. It was just Castor being Castor, and he realized that Castor was due for an extreme lesson before the complacency turned into arrogance that would get him killed.

Castor’s eyes widened in shock as he looked around. The guy genuinely knew nothing about the Skywound Realm.

Tang Shaoyang let out a chuckle, and he did not try to hide his disappointment for his team, "It’s been too easy for you all, huh? You know an Executive Administrator died in this place, and you agreed to split the team?"

Anne raised her hand, asking permission to speak. He motioned to the newly promoted Chief Administrator to speak. Of course not without a jab to her, "I hope your answer doesn’t disappoint me, Chief Administrator Anne."

Anne was visibly nervous when he called her with her new title. Despite her nervousness, it did not stop her from telling her captain why they made such a plan.

"Splitting the group is just a temporary measure. It’s just for the start of the mission because we figured out that calamities around the fort are usually weaker than the ones further from the fort. After we clear out the calamity nearby, we will regroup to explore the further area."

Tang Shaoyang nodded his head, "Not a bad plan, but you must account for the circumstance. If it’s a normal abandoned world, then that’s a good plan. But this is different, an Executive Administrator died here, and you think splitting the group is a good idea? Should one of you or a few of you die first for you to realize how stupid this plan was?"

He could see his team members were unconvinced by his argument. He could see it through their expression, and his Absolute Sense picked their doubt, their emotion.

"It seems like you don’t think it’s a stupid plan," Tang Shaoyang shook his head in utter disappointment. He realized that it dulled their sense when he took all the hard work for each mission and protected them.

"You all know an Executive Administrator died here, but do you know what killed him or how he got killed? Please answer it first before we go to the second problem!"

They exchanged glances and clearly no one knew how the Executive Administrator died or what kind of calamity killed the Executive Administrator. It was never mentioned, the report only said an Executive Administrator died here, and it still remains a mystery how he died.

"You don’t know. I don’t know, and no one knows because it was never mentioned in the report. The second issue, the most important issue than an Executive Administrator, died here. The previous mission failed to clear this world. Do we know why they fail?"

Before the death of the Executive Administrator, the Administrator sent several batches of administrators which ended in failure. The interesting part about the mission was the lack of information about the Skywound despite several failures.

There was no information about what kind of calamity resided in this world. How strong were they? The report only mentioned that the calamity overpowered them, so they decided to cancel the mission. The information was different for each mission, but one thing was the same. The information was always vague, and even an Executive Administrator who led the mission did not have detailed information.

That was the reason Tang Shaoyang felt it was his responsibility if anyone died here whether they came here of their own volition or not.

"Ah, you know nothing, huh? You only know this place is a dangerous world and only think this might be a good place for training? Even though you don’t know what kind of calamity you will face in this place, do you think it’s a good idea to split up just because usually weaker calamities stay close to the fort?"

No one answered him, no one dared.

"Everything has been easy for you guys, huh? Do you think you are not in danger as long as I am with you guys? It seems like I have created a bunch of spoiled administrators, not an elite administrator. Or maybe the promotion makes you think you are stronger than before?"

Tang Shaoyang massaged his forehead, shaking his head, "I am thinking of giving some help with the fusion or maybe even scouting the area for you guys, but I changed my mind. From now on, you will not receive help from me unless your lives are in danger. There’s no more Spirit Fusion, you are on your own from now on."
