Chapter 1970: The Trial (1)

Chapter 1970: The Trial (1)

The offer returned with a moment of silence, and Grandmaster Xu looked like considering the offer more seriously than the others.

"I actually like this offer more than our original contract."

"What nonsense you are talking about, Xu Guanyu! Suppose he wishes to inherit our martial arts. In that case, he must accept the mantle of successor and rebuild the Thousand Vows Pavilion with his own hands!"

One of the top Grandmasters replied, clearly not liking the offer. He was not the only one, as another Grandmaster voiced his opinion.

"We are being generous enough to tolerate his monstrosity, and I can’t accept it if this brat tries to avoid a responsibility that comes from our martial arts."

"And what? Do you expect me to be the leader of the Thousand Vows Pavilion for the rest of my life? And what’s the difference between me and someone else leading your pavilion? The agreement is to rebuild your faction."

Tang Shaoyang perceived that these grandmasters expected him to throw what he had and focused on the Thousand Vows Pavilion. That was what he apprehended from the two comments.

"F*ck me, I just screw myself with that offer huh? They don’t say in detail how to rebuild their factions. I should accept it and be done with the trial..." He continued with a low mutter to himself.

He did not know why he thought these people were reasonable people and easy to talk with. The realization hit him that he was still quite naive despite his experiences. He tried to be a good and a responsible person, wanting to do his end of his deal properly, and that just bit him back.

"Yes, you’re ungrateful, brat! You are about to receive thousands of martial arts from different generations of the Thousand Vows Pavilion. Many people don’t hesitate to massacre a whole world just to get our teachings, and yet this scummy brat tries to deceive us."

Tang Shaoyang snapped toward Grandmaster Xu as he had had enough with this whole nonsense. He followed their rules, following the nonsense procedure up to this point.

"What will happen if I don’t agree with the Divine Contract?"

"Unfortunately, you will be kicked out of the Thousand Halls, and you will not be able to learn our techniques anymore," Grandmaster Xu still answered with a gentle tone, having the same smile on his lips as when they first time they met.

"I see... But aren’t you curious what I will do if I get kicked without getting what I want from here?"

Grandmaster Xu made a surprised expression. Tang Shaoyang’s tone was flat, but the words were laced with threat. It was too obvious for him not to notice.

"Are you going to destroy the Thousand Halls?"

"Yes. If I can’t get it, then no one will. Especially when I have wasted my time and also my credits. I will make sure the Thousand Vows Pavilion will never rise ever again."

"Am I? Maybe I am, and I don’t think your people are far from it as well. Your people are inflexible, petty, and rude just because they are old."

Tang Shaoyang sighed because he knew that he would not be able to get into the class. Grandmaster Xu told him that he must obtain all one thousand Grandmasters’ approval. The moment he decided to talk back, he knew he would not get their approval for this class.

"Kick me out, and you better hope that I am not strong enough to destroy your city!"

The same Grandmaster who called him an ungrateful brat let out a chuckle, "Haha... We can trap your consciousness in this place, and that will secure Thousand Halls from being destroyed, and you will be trapped with us in this place."

A tiger’s roar echoed in the open plain as a white tiger formed around Tang Shaoyang. Tang Shaoyang snapped toward the voice and found who had been talking with him. His figure blurred as the ground cracked from the impact. In the next moment, he arrived in front of the same Grandmaster.

Tang Shaoyang’s hand was covered in the Heavenly Energy, tinted with the Chaos Energy. His palm moved toward the Grandmaster’s head.

The Grandmaster was shocked and caught off guard, but he managed to react in time. His right was covered in his own internal energy and met with Tang Shaoyang’s palm. Their energy clashed, and he expected to throw Tang Shaoyang away, but to his surprise, his internal energy was being weakened.

Tang Shaoyang caught the palm and pulled the Grandmaster toward him. At the same time, he sent a kick to the Grandmaster’s belly. Grandmaster’s body was sent flying backward, and Tang Shaoyang was still holding the same arm. That was right, he tore apart the Grandmaster’s right hand with the kick.

He then burned his hand with Chaos Flame as his figure went into a blur once more. This time, his movement was followed by an obvious sign, a giant golden fist. The golden fist moved toward where the Grandmaster crashed and went with a boom.

Tang Shaoyang wanted to crush the Grandmaster’s body, but he sensed a resistance. A strong resistance that his fist might be blocked by.

The dust settled down with a swing and revealed someone blocked the golden fist, and that person was Grandmaster Xu Guanyu. Grandmaster Xu Guanyu blocked the fist with his spear while Tang Shaoyang’s opponent was lying down behind Xu Guanyu.

The same Grandmaster who threatened Tang Shaoyang was lying down pitifully, losing his right arm and bleeding profusely. They kept mentioning that they were just consciousness, but he could see that the bleeding was so real. The weird part was that the Grandmaster’s wound was not healing or even regenerating. A God Rank’s Vitality would be fast enough to heal the wound, and maybe it would take a while to regenerate an entirely new arm, yet this person did not have the high Vitality.

"Calm down, Tang Shaoyang. You have quite a scary temper. Calm down and let’s talk it out, and you certainly should let me handle the talk," Grandmaster Xu lowered his spear as the golden fist dispersed. His hand was shaking slightly. "That was a quiet punch, and you might kill Grandmaster Peng with that punch."

"What is there to talk about? You told me that I must earn their approval to get the class. If they don’t give me their approval, then what’s the point of continuing the talk? I value my time, and I don’t want to waste my time on pointless talk. I would rather work on something else or maybe spend my time with my daughters is even better than talking to you all old fogies."

Grandmaster Xu let out a small laugh, amused by Tang Shaoyang, "So you decide to drop the pretense and be blunt. I like this side of yours more because it will make it easier for us to talk. And just so you know, the Thousand Vows Pavilion has a technique that will help you to control your temper as well. We have a lot of useful techniques, techniques are not just about combat and killing."

"I don’t think I have a problem with my temper. The moment that old man said that he would trap me in this place, I considered him my enemy. You already know the answer to what it means to be my enemy."

Grandmaster Xu shook his head, "Have you wondered that maybe you made an enemy because of yours? But let’s skip that, that’s for you to decide later after you get the class, so don’t be down so fast and let me do the talk. You have convinced me thoroughly that you are the person we have been waiting for, but let me do the talk for you before you go berserk again."

"Stay there and please don’t speak again, Grandmaster Peng. I agree with our guest that you are rude," Xu Guanyu then turned toward the remaining Grandmasters, "Listen to me, my fellow Grandmasters, why his proposal is actually better than our idea to force him to solely focus on Thousand Vows Pavilion."

"First, it’s better for him to put someone else in charge to lead the new Thousand Vows Pavilion than to have him as the Grandmaster. Why? Because he already has too much on his hands, and even if we force him to comply with our request, he might do it, but what’s the point if he does it half-heartedly because we force him? The Thousand Vows Pavilion will never regain its former glory with him as the Grandmaster!"

"Second, his offer is better because even if the new Thousand Vows Pavilion falls again, he could help us revive the Thousand Vows Pavilion. Since he is not the Grandmaster, our old enemies would not target him, and he would be safe. He could always help us rebuild another Thousand Vows Pavilion. He is the safe key for our sect!"

"Third, I don’t want us, The Thousand Vows Pavilion, to disappear forever," Xu Guanyu turned toward the four aloof grandmasters, "You have seen it too, right, Grandmasters? You noticed it when he fought Grandmaster Liao, and you confirmed it when he fought Grandmaster Peng. He has a unique energy, and I am ninety percent confident that he definitely could destroy our city."
