Chapter 2000: Jinxed

Chapter 2000: Jinxed

Tang Shaoyang summoned his sixth Archaic Spirits, and the quality of the sacrifices clearly dropped as the last third spirits were the intermediate-rank Archaic Spirits. His spirits started entering the area with lower-ranked calamities. That meant he needed to add the number of sacrifices if he wanted to get another high-rank Archaic Spirit.

At the same time, he was still waiting for an update from the Skelly Family and also a movement from the unknown. He asked Keeper and Kaiser, but the answer was negative. Skelly1 even mobilized part of their army to search for the cultivator, but they could not find them. It was like they disappeared into thin air.

"Or maybe they return to their own world..." Zara suggested, but she immediately denied the idea, "I don’t think those weaklings have the power to open the portal or even trust such an artifact. Maybe they are hiding in the city... No, that’s not it either. You will find them if they hide in the city."

The frustration was building up when the unknown group still remained hidden. Tang Shaoyang believed they were still in this world. Avyn and Zara shared the same opinion. The fact that they remained hidden and didn’t make a single move after him after luring the calamity to him was concerning as well.

There was another concern, about the calamity. He had not found a calamity that was strong enough to warrant his attention. Despite several failed attempts as well as an Executive Administrator dead here, this abandoned world was normal. Of course, the calamities here were stronger, but the gap was not drastic enough to kill an Executive Administrator.

There was something amiss about the history of this place and his experience in this world. He was in the deepest part, but there was nothing that was strong enough to threaten him or even force him to join the fight.

His spirits encountered the Unique Rank, quite a lot actually. More than thirty just in one day, but they were not an issue. Karan the Battle God handled them. The Orc lived up to his life, his dream, fighting to his heart’s content. The other Unique Rank was handled by his high-rank Archaic Spirit; killing them was not a problem.

Avyn suggested taming some of the calamity using the Demonification, just like what he did to Ophelius and Ophelia. Especially for the Unique Rank Calamity, as that would be a good experiment. However, Tang Shaoyang chose not to, as he decided the calamity to be his resource for spirit summonings.

He developed a new routine, except he was not cultivating this time but summoning the new spirits. Not that he neglected his cultivation, he still did his meditation when he summoned a new spirit. He was cultivating when Avyn and Zara were busy fighting the newly summoned spirit.

Tang Shaoyang just followed the trail of battles to summon a spirit and cultivate. A new routine that he kept doing for ten days. The world was bigger than he thought, and the calamity was deeply rooted in this place. There were just too many of them.

There was still no news about the cultivator from the Black Lotus Sect. Vandir tried to ignore his call, but he could check on what Vandir was up to with Spirit Link. He found out the skeleton was dissecting the dead calamity, a unique rank calamity, while his Undead was fighting for him.

Han Taiyang was still sulking, hostile to all calamity spirits he contracted. Aside from that, he also ignored Tang Shaoyang. Tang Shaoyang could force the cultivator spirit to talk with his authority, but that would defeat the purpose of creating a proper relationship. A path he liked more than a forceful path.

Aside from that, the Tang Garden was making progress smoothly. Azhug was on track to get a three-star reputation for the Tang Garden. He got an additional thirteen spirits after the initial six spirits. It was slowing down because he kept getting low-rank and Intermediate-rank Archaic Spirits.

He had to use extra calamity to rank up these spirits. It would be a waste to sacrifice them to get their stats since he used a lot of sacrifices for them. The reason was that the calamity spirit was quite easy to make a contract with. They would follow his order after they were beaten, unlike a certain someone.

Easy to command, Tang Shaoyang liked the calamity spirit more than any other spirits. The calamity spirit did not have a lot of requirements or anything. They loved to fight and kill for him. Some were smart enough that they were willing to do reconnaissance work.

Everything went smoothly, too smoothly for an abandoned world with a bad history. Another ten days passed with no issue, and Tang Shaoyang believed that he had gotten half of the job done. With their current pace, they might be able to finish the mission in less than a month.

"Isn’t this too easy for you? This is unlike you, when problems always find their way to you," Zara said it out loud because she also felt everything was too easy. They expected this would be a troubled work, but everything went smoothly, too smoothly for someone with a history like Tang Shaoyang.

When they took a simple calamity extermination job, it turned into a war against the Void Cult. The same with the long and boring job of defending the Void Portal. It turned chaotic when Tang Shaoyang almost clashed with the Hurakan Kingdom. To make it worse, one of the emperors attacked the fort as well.

Everything that involved Tang Shaoyang always turned into a big thing, most of the time. The two women were used to his bad luck.

"Don’t jinx it, Zara. I just want to get this done and meet my daughters. They are growing too fast with all the systems now."

Tang Shaoyang rebuked Zara, but the girl just shrugged at him. However, the jinx seemed to work because he received a message from Arion an hour later.

"We have an issue, Tang Shaoyang. Could you return now?"

A direct communication from Arion came in. The moment he received his message, he cast a sharp glare at Zara.

"What?" The girl questioned him innocently.

"What’s the issue? Do I have to return right now?" He ignored Zara and asked Arion what happened.

"A team called The Viper got wiped out, not a single one of them left alive. We have checked their wounds, and they are likely killed by people, not by calamity. An unknown group is attacking the administrator on duty, and this is the same as a war declaration to the Administrator!"

Even though it was a long-range communication for the fellow administrator, Tang Shaoyang could feel the murderous intent in his words. Arion showed him a new side.

"Haaahhhhh..." Tang Shaoyang released a long sigh.

He could not really return right now because of the scattered calamity of dead bodies. He was afraid that surviving calamities would feast on these bodies if he just left them behind.

"Do I have to return right now? Can you two do something about it?"

Clementine and Arion should be enough to handle whatever came after the administrator. There were two ancient Executive Administrators who had lived for thousands of years. Something like this should not trouble them.

"You have to! You must fulfill your duty as an Executive Administrator to protect the lower-ranked administrators. We need everything we have since we don’t know what we will fight for."

"Alright. Escort my team back to the base. I will be there as soon as my team is in the main base."

Tang Shaoyang had no choice but to leave all these precious materials behind for now. He checked on his team, and they were already back on the base, and he received a response from Arion right after he checked on his team.

"Your team is already in the main base."

With the urgency in Arion’s tone, Tang Shaoyang did not delay his return as he turned toward Avyn and Zara, "What are you going to do? Are you going to catch up with the other spirits or return to the Spirit World?"

He could not bring them back like this. Not many knew about them aside from his team, so he wanted to keep it that way as long as he could.

"We will return with you!" Both seemed to share the same thought as they dispersed into lights and entered his forehead.

Tang Shaoyang then ordered his spirit, which always followed his team, to go outside the base. He did not want his team to find out that he had been tracking them. The moment his shadow spirit got outside the gate, he activated Spirit Switch.

They switched places without the administrator on guard duty noticing his return and entering the main base with ease. All the teams seemed to return to the main base after Arion found that a team was wiped out. At least, that was a good measure to avoid a big casualty.

Some people recognized and bowed to him, but most of them still had not accepted him as the new Executive Administrator. Not that he cared what they thought about him, but he could understand where they came from. A new administrator who quickly got promoted to Executive Administrator. It sounded suspicious regardless of his background.

People gathered at the center of the fort, and he reunited with his team quickly. He waved at them as he met with Arion and Clementine, who seemed to be waiting for him.

In front of them were mutilated bodies, a lot of body parts lined up properly, and he did not understand why Arion decided to bring those mutilated bodies back. He felt like the others might tank their morale to see what happened to their fellow administrators.

Tang Shaoyang was about to greet the two Executive Administrators when he saw the cut on each body. His eyes locked on the body parts, and he furrowed his brow. He immediately understood why Arion could tell that this team was not killed by the calamity.

A clean and precise cut for each body part. From these people’s dead expressions, it seemed like they were ambushed. It looked like they did not know how they died.
