Chapter 2072: Let the World Knows (4)

Remin halted the march around two kilometers away from the city, in the open field. The situation didn’t look good, and it seemed he was too late.

Despite his doubt, he sent three teams. They were the elite teams under his wings. Their task was not to find Tang Shaoyang, but to check whether the city had fallen or not. Ensuring whether it was safe for them to enter the city or not.

The ideal situation was where Tang Shaoyang was hurt badly. He didn’t care if another city and force fell as long as he could kill Tang Shaoyang. Such a hope naturally appeared in his heart as long as he could get the kill.

Then a realization came into his mind. The Black Executioner Havel was the only competitor in this area. However, he quickly spotted Havel, who didn’t try to hide or steal a start against him. This was not Havel he knew. The Black Executioner he knew would not let such a golden chance slip.

’Does a single defeat tame him? Is he really afraid of Tang Shaoyang now?’

When he thought so, he saw Havel move. He was caught off guard by the movement and could not keep up with Havel. That was when his name was called out by Havel. At the same time, his vision spun around.

That was when he realized that Havel moved toward him, pulling him from something. Then he saw what happened, something was shot from the city, and that something aimed at him. He easily found what was shot, a high concentration of energy, a beam.

Havel saved him from the beam, but not his people who stood behind him. The people who stood in one line with him were not spared. Dozens died in that single attack, and five of them were God Ranks.

Remin was furious and was about to attack him, but then Havel tapped his right shoulder.

"Keep your composure if you don’t want to lose like me, Remin." That was something he never expected to hear from Havel. Even before the contention for the Shadow Lord, Havel would never have said such a thing to him before.

"They are coming!" Havel warned him. He said they, not he, meaning Tang Shaoyang was coming with his summons.

He looked up and saw a silhouette from above. The silhouette landed in front of him with a bang, then a fierce gush swept the dust and revealed the figure.

It was a skeleton, not just that ordinary skeleton. The skeleton is not that white-framed skeleton, but a red, shiny-colored skeleton. It looked like a gem that was the same as a skeleton.

The red-shiny skeleton was not a human skeleton but a creature with a snout, and the wing-frame that lit up in flame confirmed the fact that this was not a human. The most important thing was the aura exuded from the skeleton, a powerful aura that might be on par with his.

That feeling was amplified when he met with its gaze, the burning flame in its socket that gave off more pressure on him. That was when he realized that Havel mentioned a strong Fallen Angel, but this one was not a Fallen Angel.

The gears in his head were starting to move, thinking of how to fight these creatures. That was when he sensed another one was coming. He looked up, and another figure landed in front of him, just a meter in front of the skeleton.

Reyner’s eyes locked on the newly arrived figure that swept the dust with a single swing of his axe. The second creature was an orc, a red-skinned orc. It was not rare to find a mutated orc, but this was his first time encountering a blood-red-skinned orc from top to bottom.

"I won’t allow you to steal a start this time, Kaiser! We have to compete fair and square."

The red-skinned orc said something that rubbed Reyner the wrong way, even though he didn’t know the context. But from those snippet conversations, these two seemed to be competing over something. If he had to guess, it was the battle. The orc was known for its crazed-battle trait, and the red one might be even more extreme.

However, Reyner found something even more amiss about the red-skinned orc. He could not sense anything from the Orc. It didn’t exude any aura, but he could sense the energy from it. If not for that unique energy, he might think of this orc as an undead.

Reyner was on high alert when he spotted the red-skinned, but then a massive shadow loomed over him. He immediately looked up and found a massive wyvern. The first thing that came to his mind was that the thing was a dragon at first, but he quickly spotted the difference to immediately correct it as a wyvern.

People might think a wyvern was weaker than a dragon, but there was not a little where a wyvern was stronger than a dragon. The bad news didn’t stop there because he spotted another flying creature next to the wyvern. He spotted a phoenix, and the other two flying creatures that were smaller than the phoenix and the wyvern.

He started to understand why Antona fell so quickly and how Tang Shaoyang wiped out their force in the north so quickly. But then that was not over yet as he received a barrage of messages. He opened five messages at once and found what it was about.

All of them contained the same messages; enemies were coming from their sides. That was when he realized that they were being surrounded. Not long after that, he received a message from the scouts he sent into the city.

Only one team managed to send a message back, and the message was: [It’s a trap. They are expecting us, and the other teams died before w—]

The message was cut off. It looked like the sender hastily sent a message before he could finish writing the complete message. Remin easily guessed that the sender might be dead by now. He did a quick check, and the names that he sent to the city indeed disappeared from the member list.

Just as he thought the situation could not get any worse, his subordinates reported the incoming army. He looked up and found an army, an army of skeletons of all kinds of sizes.

He didn’t know why he felt relieved when he found out the skeleton army was not composed of God Ranks. If all of the skeletons were God Ranks, then the Shadow Stars were truly done for. From his subordinates’ report, the skeleton army was around twenty thousand to thirty thousand.

The problem was the flank that cut off their retreat path. The report told him that the force that flanked them comprised God Ranks, all of them. That was the main problem.

His head was spinning, thinking of a plan on how to get out of the situation. He didn’t think of fighting them after what happened to Antona and the north force. His plan was to get most of his forces to escape and regroup with the other forces.

At this moment, he received a message from Havel. The man was right next to him, so he wondered why he sent a message instead of telling him directly. His eyes widened in shock when he read the message, furious, but then a hand reached his right shoulder.

He looked up, and it was Havel, shaking his head at him.
