Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1249: Waiting Room

Chapter 1249: Waiting Room

Atticus felt the darkening of his vision last for many moments.

Then, after a few breaths, bright light flooded his eyes. Atticus didn’t even flinch. His eyes remained wide open, hand gripping the hilt of his katana tightly.

As his vision cleared, he glanced around and took in his surroundings.

’A room.’

He had appeared in a large chamber with white walls and multiple couches scattered about, each one screaming comfort.

’A waiting room?’ That was the immediate vibe he got, and the words of the voice he’d heard moments ago confirmed it.

This was indeed a waiting room. Atticus instantly noticed the increased mana density and the soft air that almost coaxed him to flop onto one of the couches and relax.

As he observed his surroundings, thinking about what to do, multiple lights suddenly ignited around the room, and Atticus’s gaze landed on four figures.

The instant it did, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

"Bond!" Ozeroth exclaimed. "Was this you!?"

The prideful man stood with twin hammers brandished in both hands. Radiant golden armor covered his body, glowing just like his entire being.

He’d clearly been in the middle of an intense battle and was not happy that he’d been interrupted.

Atticus didn’t answer immediately. He first glanced at the others, Aric, Magnus, and Zenon.

He knew of Aric’s battle and just how close he’d been to winning. The man had appeared mid strike, both hands gripping the hilt of his broadsword in a downward slash.

From the deep frown on his face, Atticus could guess that he’d been about to finish off an opponent.

Magnus and Zenon were the same. Both had transformed. Lightning crackled around the former, while the latter’s body constantly shifted. They’d become Eldorians, but it was hard to let go of a power you’d lived with your whole life.

Even in the Virelenna, they had leaned into their own strengths, Magnus with lightning, Zenon with evolution. Aric’s main force in his battle had still come from his berserker bloodline.

Atticus finally turned to Ozeroth.

"I have no idea how this happened," he lied with a straight face.

Of all the people in the room, only Zenon looked visibly relieved that they had been transported. The others were clearly irritated that their fights had been interrupted.

"Ohh," Atticus said after a second.

"Oh what? What lie are you about to utter now?"

Atticus kept his face straight. Ozeroth might be able to tell he was lying, but the others wouldn’t.

"It must’ve been because the beacon broke during my fight with that god," he said thoughtfully.

"Big, menacing man? Dressed like a war veteran?" Zenon asked.

"The one who wanted to fight in the Blue Hall. Yeah." Atticus nodded. "Did you guys see him?"

"Hmph!" Ozeroth scoffed. "That stupid man ran away before I could teach him a lesson. He was spouting all sorts of nonsense too."

"What nonsense?"

"Something about not taking us seriously because a child is our god or something. Very stupid man. How do you say something that insane and then run away?" Ozeroth clenched his hammers as he remembered the scene.

Just thinking about the High Marshal made him want to explode.

"Calm down. He’s dead now anyway."

Magnus and Zenon turned toward him. Atticus had killed a god?

Aric didn’t react. He’d been there. He knew when Atticus had killed the god as his opponents had lost power after all.

Atticus smiled and nodded.

"Baaa!" Ozeroth scowled. "Fucking show off."

Atticus laughed. "You’re just mad you weren’t the one who killed him."

"If he had waited a few seconds, I would have! I knew I wouldn’t see him again the moment he said ’I’ll be back.’" Ozeroth mimicked Dronvet’s voice, mocking the dramatic exit.

Zenon burst into laughter, and even Aric and Magnus cracked smiles. They still remembered the ridiculous look on the general’s face when he’d said it.

"But how could you mess up this bad, Bond?" Ozeroth asked after a moment. "I was in the middle of teaching someone a lesson before I was yanked away."

Atticus could tell they’d all been fighting someone. Which meant... someone had attacked their beacon.

’I made the right call,’ he thought.

Staying behind after destroying a beacon was a good way to thin out the competition. Still, their own beacon could’ve been destroyed, and once that happened, they would leave the Virelenna no matter what.

"Who were you fighting against?" Atticus asked after a second.

Ozeroth waved his arm dismissively. "I don’t know. Some military women who thought they were all that. I told them to join my harem, and next thing, they wanted to kill me."

Atticus frowned. "You want a harem?"

Ozeroth smiled and nodded. "Ah yes, that lazy fool was able to convince me. Besides, no one woman can contain my greatness, right?"

"Since when did you and Whisker become so close?"

"No no." Ozeroth shook his head. "He’s still a very useless idiot. He just happened to be making sense that one time."

Atticus stared at him for a moment, then shook his head and moved the topic along. "Alright, alright. How strong were they?"

"They were pretty weak to me. I was in the process of spanking one of them before I was teleported."

Atticus sent a questioning gaze to Zenon, who nodded with a wry smile, confirming the spirit’s words. Atticus blinked.

"You were spanking one of them?"

Ozeroth nodded with a grin, and Atticus let out a heavy sigh. He could already imagine how many people had witnessed their champion getting spanked by Ozeroth mid battle. The embarrassment...

He shook his head. "What’s their power?"

"I’m not entirely sure..." Zenon began, but Ozeroth cut in.

"They were hurling random words and then manipulating the mana in different ways."

’Another way of manipulating mana...’ Atticus entered his thoughts for a moment.

If Ozeroth’s words were accurate, then their opponents were likely champions of one of Terrvenos’ gods. Just like Dronvet, they had their own unique method of manipulating mana.
