Chapter 1262: I Want You
Chapter 1262: I Want You
Only, their blows were lethal, and there were no signs of holding back. They struck to kill, and they struck fast.
As they each felt the aura of their god encompass the space, they all wanted nothing more than to finish their current battles and find out what was going on.
The eruption of Magnus and Aric’s aura snapped the frozen moment back into motion, and they moved faster than ever, raining attacks down on their opponents.
Zenon could already see the battle ending in moments. He turned impatiently toward Ozeroth, who had a grin on his face, not even slightly concerned about Atticus’ battle in the distance. He seemed to be having enough fun in his own.
Zenon sighed. Unfortunately, he couldn’t leave to check up on Atticus. He had to stay and watch over Ozeroth.
Regardless, many would say the worries of the Eldorians were unfounded.
Because in the middle of the raging storm... the scene was far from what anyone would have anticipated.
’Where is he?’
Lyress’s eyes flashed an intense purple, shifting from one side to another, scanning for that child god. But no matter how much she searched, she couldn’t find him.
Her purple will had engulfed her entire body as she fought against the storm raging around her.
Her face had twisted into a panicked expression at the ongoing event.
’He’s not allowing me summon them!’ she realized.
Atticus’ storm had shredded her entire legion the instant it met them, despite their powerful selves.
Her legion of undead was enough to decimate the fighting forces of entire worlds and bring those worlds to their knees within a day.
And while they couldn’t be compared to a god, it didn’t mean they were so easy to kill, especially with their power to spawn endlessly.
Yet it had happened, right before her eyes. Her legion was getting shredded the moment they tried to reform.
’He knows.’
The realization landed like a slap to the face. And it only made the dread intensify.
Lyress could see it, Atticus had figured out her weakness.
The Undying.
It was the name Lyress had given her concept. And its effect was just as it sounded. Lyress had an undying will.
It meant her will could never die, could never run out of energy, and would always keep on going.
However, nothing could be so strong without any drawback. The drawback was her undead legion.
When spawned, her will got tethered to them. In simple terms, she shared her will with them.
As long as they were present, her will was boundless and unending. However, the same was true when they weren’t present.
Her will would be reduced to barely anything, unable to dare clash against another god.
This was why, when Atticus suddenly destroyed a large number of her legion, she had evaded all his strikes instead of blocking.
But now, the same thing had happened again, and Atticus was rendering her every attempt at summoning them back completely obsolete.
’He’s coming,’ she thought, her guard raised to the extreme.
While the storm raged around her, it wasn’t enough to pierce through her will. He had to attack personally to take advantage of this opportunity.
Her eyes darted around. She used every single power she could to find Atticus, but she couldn’t.
’Where did he go?’
The same thought continually thundered in her mind. No matter what power Atticus had, it should be impossible to escape her notice. Suddenly, a thought slipped through her mind.
’A distraction!?’
Atticus might be trying to distract her and go for the king. Her eyes flashed cold.
’It’s a trick!’
If he should kill the king, she would lose the scenario. She couldn’t allow that.
Lyress focused and gathered every single inch of what she had left, and her will began to glow brightly until it detonated.
It spread out from her in a large dome of purple that pushed the raging storm around her away.
Lyress was about to move before she felt something strong pierce through her will.
’Huh?’
A chill gripped her spine and she froze. There was just no mistaking that feeling. She had dealt with it her entire life and knew exactly what it meant.
Death.
The cold sensation of finality.
Lyress turned just in time to see what had pierced through her will.
A white haired boy, with a blade engulfed in crimson flames, thrusting straight towards her.
The child god.
Despite the situation, Lyress couldn’t help but smile.
She had searched for Atticus far and wide to no avail. And then the instant she had turned the rest of her will away from her body and into a dome, he had suddenly appeared, piercing through her dome before she could even realize.
Lyress felt like laughing.
’He tricked me completely.’
She had assumed he went after the king and had used the last of her will to create the dome.
Her plan had been to summon her legion within it and go after Atticus. But he had appeared right in front of her, like he had been waiting. Like he had been plotting.
She met Atticus’s gaze and her smile only widened. Her heart thundered in her chest unknowingly.
’I want him.’
She had never had a child so smart, so capable. She wanted him, badly.
But as the thought came, so did the blade.
Without her will surrounding her, it pierced through her chest and into her heart without resistance.
The sound of sizzling flesh echoed within the raging storm as Atticus’s will burned her insides. But despite the pain, Lyress’s crazed eyes remained focused only on Atticus.
"You know..." she choked, blood leaking from her mouth. "My heart had always been a useless organ. It only ever pumped blood, never felt anything. In all my life of existence, it had never beat as fast as you made it beat."
A crazed glint appeared in her eyes as she chuckled.
"I want you."
Lyress had spoken all of those words as Atticus acted.
