Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1425 Voidlings

Chapter 1425  Voidlings

A week passed.

After the conversation with Whisker, Atticus had been forced to put a pause on any and every action that involved powering up the people of the world.

According to Whisker, everyone could still advance and gain power. However, the limits were on him in particular.

He couldn't actively be involved in increasing the people's strength. Training people by word and instruction was one thing, but changing the entire structure of someone and increasing their power and potential was another.

It was a limit Atticus truly didn't like.

It meant he wouldn't be able to increase talents or make any more Eldorians until any of the current ones died or the world expanded.

'I could always unmake an Eldorian…' Atticus would find himself thinking, then would eventually shake his head.

All of the current Eldorians had awakened their wills and joined his will path. It would be a waste.

"Supreme Ruler… they're back."

"How many?"

"A small army."

'Not again.'

Atticus rose from his seated position and fixed his tired gaze on Oberon. Since that day, he had been training in the separate continent below the Veinroot Tree.

"The preparations?"

"Everyone is in place, Supreme Ruler."

"Alright. Let's go."

They vanished from the separate continent and appeared at the top of Wall Novareth.

Novareth, meaning New World, had been the name they had given to the new Eldoralth, consisting of a culmination of all the races.

And right now, they stood on a vast wall that encompassed the entirety of it, Wall Novareth.

"Atticus."

"You're here, son."

"Supreme Ruler."

Atticus was greeted by Magnus, Avalon, and the other Eldorians. They had gathered in one part of the city, overlooking the endless expanse that stretched past the wall.

He responded with a nod, then spoke.

"They're still forming?"

As they nodded grimly, Atticus fixed his eyes on the horizon. There, a black mass had stretched across kilometers of land, writhing and expanding.

'When will this stop?'

The week hadn't been uneventful. As it turned out, Whisker had been wrong in his assumption that the actions of the plane will were just a warning.

After he returned from speaking to Whisker, the first thing he did was give the world a deeper scan. And due to that, he had discovered something. The heavy weight that had settled on the minds of Aurora and the others had not only been centered on them but the entire world.

People complained of sudden headaches, others felt drowsy and tired. There were some cases where some had run mad.

In any case, it was a serious event. And as though trying to add to the chaos, a horde of unknown creatures had attacked Novareth.

It was unlike anything they'd ever seen before. They were unaffected by mana, which included any attacks formed from it. Attacks, no matter how powerful, would simply cease to exist as they neared them.

Nullites. This had been Atticus' first conclusion. But he had ruled it out almost immediately when the same thing repeated itself when they attacked with the power of negation.

'They're different from Nullites. They nullify everything, except Will.'

Atticus mulled over the situation once more. Creatures that had the power to nullify their entire power system, it wasn't hard to figure out where they came from.

'The plane will.'

Whisker had advised him to stay out of it. Being the cause of this in the first place, interfering would make the plane will intensify its efforts to restore the balance.

'Does this mean this would only end in bloodshed? Our bloodshed.'

"Are they ready?"

"Yes, Supreme Ruler."

"Deploy them."

Oberon nodded, then turned towards the city, where a group of heavily armored warriors gathered.

They were clad in sleek, skin-tight armor that covered them from head to toe.

At the center of each chest was a crimson gem. Its light fed the vein-like lines that spread across the suit, making it look alive with power.

The warriors listened to orders and marched outside the gates, where they braced themselves for what was to come.

'Let's hope it works.'

Intent on not interfering, even through words, Atticus had tasked Oberon to figure out a way to battle these new threats. Due to that, with the help of the Dwarves, Evolari, Enigmlink, and engineers from Kariot, they came up with these suits.

Rather than mana, they were powered with Will Stones filled with Atticus' Will, charged from the Veinroot.

This granted their wearers unimaginable power, and more importantly, the ability to battle the creatures.

"They're forming."

The group tensed, then turned their focus towards the large patch of blackness within the expanse.

Its surface suddenly rippled like liquid. Then, with a deep shudder, it widened, spreading across the expanse.

Figures shot out from the darkness. They were humanoid in shape but twisted and towering.

Their bodies were smooth and featureless, lacking faces or mouths, except for a single, glowing eye burning at the center of their heads.

One after another they emerged, each standing in eerie silence.

Atticus observed with a cold gaze as they soon stood shoulder to shoulder in a tight formation, their numbers swelling into the thousands.

'Voidlings.'

This was the name they'd given to them. They emerged from the void, with only one sole purpose; to kill.

The army poured forward as one. The ground trembled, yet no sound escaped their advance.

Atticus felt Oberon's eyes on him and gave a single nod.

"Give the order."

Oberon's voice thundered through the ranks.

"Attack!"

The armored warriors brandished their weapons, their crimson veins blazing as they surged to meet the horde.

When the two forces collided, the silence vanished. Metal met shadow in explosive bursts of scarlet and black. Intense ripples spread across the expanse.

But the grim expressions on the Eldorians' faces soon gave way to one of relief. A cloak of crimson had engulfed the armored warriors as they tore through the ranks of the Voidlings.

"Yes, it works!"

"We've finally found a way to counter them."

"Now we can train."

"Good job, Oberon."
