Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1472 Stupid

Chapter 1472  Stupid

Despite the impending doom, Raziel still chuckled.

"This guy…" He stared straight at Atticus. "You're making me like you more and more. I'll become addicted."

"…"

He smiled when Atticus didn't respond. As his head began to tilt…

"There's no way our story's ending this fast. Switch."

The glow vanished from his eyes, and his lifeless head and body plummeted from the skies.

Atticus narrowed his eyes.

'What was that?'

At the very last moment, just as Raziel's eyes dimmed, Atticus had felt a chill crawl across his senses. And now, Raziel's body was empty. He tried to absorb, but there was nothing there!

'Grandpa.'

His gaze snapped toward the ongoing battle in the distance. Though the god had been killed, his champion hadn't vanished.

He stood rigid before the tense Magnus and Kiara, eyes flickering violently. Atticus' eyes widened.

'He's switching bodies!'

His aura surged, and he erased the distance between them, katana thrusting toward the champion just as the man's head snapped toward him.

He grinned.

"I'll make you see!"

He erupted in an explosion of blinding purple that slammed into Atticus and hurled him away.

Atticus twisted in the air, regaining his balance. His gaze sliced through the thick haze, and he relaxed only when he saw Magnus unharmed by the eruption of power.

'Grandpa…'

The minion was no longer a champion, but Raziel. A god. Which meant he shouldn't be able to harm other champions.

'But how?'

How had he produced a champion capable of attacking other champions? How had he simply switched bodies like that!?

"Hahaha! The shock on your face is priceless!"

Raziel laughed as he slowly ascended into the sky.

"Let me guess… how did I switch bodies?" He smiled, spinning his staff. "Let's just say… when there's will, there's always a way."

He swept his staff aside.

"Kill him."

Multiple shadows tore themselves from Raziel, solidifying into two identical figures. They bowed, then shot toward Magnus and Kiara in the distance.

Atticus' expression hardened.

"Killing me would stop all this," Raziel said, killing intent leaking from him. "But I can say with certainty it won't be as easy as earlier. Now… shall we continue where we stopped?"

They vanished and met in a chain of aggressive clashes, but Atticus found himself distracted. Despite the danger before him, his eyes kept wandering toward Magnus.

Thunder and gold crackled through the skies as Magnus and Kiara struggled against Raziel's champions, but it was a fool's dream. They were too strong. It was only a matter of seconds before they would fulfil their objective and kill Magnus.

'The exosuit is not charged enough.'

Atticus had taken blow after blow, absorbed attack after attack, just to deliver the slash that severed Raziel's neck. Reaching that level again would take time, time he didn't have.

'He'll also expect it.'

Raziel had clearly pieced together what happened before and would be prepared for a final strike. The odds were stacked against him.

Still, Logoth washed away the storm of emotions raging inside him and filled his mind with clarity.

'I need to kill him.'

A fragment bearer with multiple fragments. An unknown organization behind him. Everything about this screamed danger.

Going all out and erasing this threat was the only logical choice. Everything else was noise.

Atticus' eyes grew detached as he moved. His katana flashed in an unending stream as he clashed with Raziel.

"Yes! That's it!" Raziel's eyes glinted with thrill. "Give me your all! No fucking distractions!"

Their clashes intensified, each collision sending tremors across hundreds of thousands of miles, toppling forests far beyond the ruined city.

At that moment, Atticus saw nothing but his opponent.

A distance away, the battle between champions was coming to an end. Magnus was sent shooting back, skidding to a stop. A moment later, Kiara crashed beside him.

They both shakily stood and stared at the approaching champions with tense and darkened gazes.

'There's no other way.'

Magnus stared at the distance where Atticus fought with his opponent. Even now, he realized that he was dead weight, something he'd never thought possible.

'It's better this way. Then he'll be able to focus.'

Magnus would rather die than be a liability to his loved ones.

His eyes hardened with resolve. Images of his wife flashed through his mind, and he smiled softly.

'It's time for me to come, Freya.'

"You should leave. They're only after me."

Kiara narrowed her eyes at Magnus and firmly shook her head.

"No."

"Then they'll kill us both. You're dying for nothing."

"Not nothing." Kiara tightened her grip on her sword. "You."

Magnus frowned. "You don't know me."

"Doesn't matter."

"…I see."

Her mind was made up. There was no convincing her otherwise. Magnus exhaled, then faced forward just as the two champions landed in a burst of force.

Lightning cracked around his body as a spear formed in his grip.

"Then let's die fighting together."

"Yes."

They were about to move when a scream ripped through the battlefield.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, YOU STUPID FOOL! YOUR GRANDFATHER IS ABOUT TO BE KILLED!"

Atticus' eyes flickered toward the source, the petite princess, bathed in golden light, hovering in the air.

A flash ran through his gaze as he looked down, where Magnus and a champion were about to collide. There was no doubt about the outcome, Magnus would die.

'What am I doing?'

Atticus slipped out of Logoth, and his emotions came flooding back in a violent surge.

'What the hell am I doing!'

Had he really abandoned Magnus just to kill an enemy? His loved one!? Atticus gritted his teeth so hard blood pooled in his mouth.

'Stupid… fucking stupid!'

He gathered every ounce of power he'd absorbed up until now and vanished, Raziel's staff tearing through the air where his head had been a heartbeat earlier.

In a flash, Atticus appeared behind Magnus and Kiara, gripping their shoulders. His will spread outward, engulfing them, and the princess above.

"No!"

Raziel roared and detonated in a wave of power, surging toward Atticus at insane speed just as Atticus spoke…

"Return to base."

The beacon shining behind Atticus flared, then erupted in a blinding light that swallowed the four of them.

In the next instant, they vanished.

"FUCK!"

Raziel slammed into the earth in an explosion of devastation.

He cleared the haze with a blast, eyes glowing.

"We'll meet again."

The city was ruined, hundreds of gods dead, yet only one name filled his mind…

"Atticus Ravenstein…"
