Chapter 1672 Waiting
Chapter 1672 Waiting
"…what I can tell you is this. Only gods can enter the Crown."
A deep frown settled on Atticus' face at the words.
Only gods…
'I can't leave anyone.'
There was no telling what dangers still lingered within the span. Even at the summit, leaving his family behind was not an option. The solution was simple… turn everyone into a god. However… his gaze gradually narrowed.
'What about… her.'
"…can a pregnant god enter?"
The eternal span regarded him for a moment, then shook his large head.
"Unfortunately… no. A pregnant god carries an ordinary child. The child would either have to be separated from her… or terminated."
A chill flickered through Atticus' eyes as the air around him turned heavy. His fingers tightened around the hilt of his katana, his head tilting slightly.
"…terminated?"
Star or not, he would raze this world to the ground before he allowed anyone to touch his sister.
"Do not forget… i am only an information source. I'm giving you options. Besides…"
The eternal span's eyes darkened to black, and the endless blue sky dimmed with them. The air thickened, pressing down as the ground began to tremble beneath them.
"…do not forget who you're standing before, child."
It felt as though the world itself had descended upon him. His body refused to move, and even drawing breath became a struggle. Yet Atticus' gaze did not waver. He met the span's eyes without the slightest flicker.
The eternal span's expression tightened faintly.
'This child…'
His aura alone should have been enough to crush him, yet he still refused to yield.
'So that fool was right… again.'
Tch.
Another loss to that accursed verge.
With a quiet exhale, the eternal span withdrew his pressure, and the world eased back into place.
"…"
Atticus mirrored the motion, easing his grip on the hilt of his katana.
"If you want the child to follow you into the Crown… then she must become a god."
"…"
"…I would advise against that."
The span's wings spread, then beat once as he ascended into the sky, his body beginning to glow with a blinding light.
"…the Crown is not a place you bring deadweight."
He dissolved into motes of light the next moment, and the overwhelming weight of his presence vanished with him.
"Whew."
Atticus let out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding, his arms loosening at his sides. The span's aura had been suffocating… it had taken everything he had just to remain standing.
A moment later, his hands slowly curled into fists.
'Turn her into a god.'
She was merely a fetus… It was impossible. Which meant…
'We have to wait…'
At least until she was born.
…
Moments later, Atticus gathered the others… Anorah, Ozeroth, Whisker, Magnus, Avalon, Azeron, Oberon, and many more, and told them everything he had learned.
A long silence settled over the hall.
"…only gods… huh." Whisker muttered. "So… we wait until my goddaughter is born."
Ozeroth glared at whisker.
"…your goddaughter? Since when?" "Huh? Since now. It's obviously me."
"Obviously you? Do you think the little fairy needs a lazy bastard as a godfather? It has to be someone respectable."
"Respectable? You? The same guy that stands there talking to himself? That guy?"
"…have you been watching Ozeroth?"
"I don't need to. You do it every time you catch your reflection."
"I do not."
Whisker flicked his wrist, and a mirror formed before Ozeroth. Ozeroth's eyes widened, and he ran a hand along his beard, a faint smirk appearing on his lips.
"…hmm, now who is this great man—"
His gaze sharpened. He dismissed the mirror with a wave, then turned a glare on Whisker.
"…no. That doesn't count."
Whisker let out a scoff, shaking his head.
"Oh, and he's shameless too. If we're not careful, you'll pass all your nonsense to the kid."
"You…!"
"Huh? What?"
The two surged to their feet as they prepared to clash.
"Enough." Atticus said. "Neither of you is going to be her godfather."
"…what?"
"Huh?"
Their heads snapped toward him, eyes narrowed.
"…don't tell me you're picking yourself. You can't."
"Yeah, you're her brother. That doesn't work."
"Of course not." Atticus shook his head, then gestured toward Magnus, who sat silently at the side. "He is."
Magnus gave a short nod, his steady gaze settling on the two of them. There was no change in his expression, yet it carried the quiet weight of someone fully prepared to enforce that decision if needed.
"…seriously?"
"…ah, you've got to be kidding me."
Ozeroth and Whisker clicked their tongues, shaking their heads as they dropped back into their seats.
"So… it's settled." Atticus said. "We wait until she's born, then we move."
The room answered with a unified nod.
…
With their next move decided, time slipped by in a blur.
The following months saw Atticus and his people accomplish several things.
First was the complete annihilation of the major factions within the summit, the Redflames, Nature, Abyss, and many others.
With Azeron and the Evoli guiding them, they infiltrated each of their headquarters and ripped through them without restraint.
Amidst the raids, Atticus moved on to the second objective, turning every one of his loved ones into a god. The process was straightforward. Once he forced the gods into sleep, he simply had them complete the final step themselves.
It didn't take long before the summit was thoroughly purged, and everyone around him became a god.
That said, the ripples of his actions were anything but small. While the mid and minor factions shrank back in fear of the devil child god, the remaining major factions, sensing the threat he posed, set aside their differences and formed a colossal alliance… before launching a full scale assault on Eldoralth.
On the day the attack came, the skies were filled with artifacts, each one recording and broadcasting the scene across the entire span. They intended to show the fall of the devil God child, Atticus Ravenstein
The earth trembled beneath the advance of armies numbering in the trillions. Dust rose in vast clouds that stretched for thousands of kilometers, and the air grew thick and suffocating.
Across the span, countless gathered to watch. Streets overflowed, massive assemblies formed, and a heavy, unbroken silence settled as all eyes fixed on the unfolding battle.
Soon, the view shifted to the other front.
Many expected to see an army, billions, trillions of soldiers spread across the world like an endless sea.
However…
To meet the approaching tide, the combined might of every major faction… Eldoralth sent only one.
As the eyes of trillions fell upon the single figure standing before the vast expanse of soldiers, they widened.
Atticus Ravenstein.
