The Mid-Autumn Festival passed just like that, neither here nor there. After Qi Fenglian’s incident of chasing guests away, no matter how thick-skinned her aunt and the others were, they were embarrassed to stay longer. After breakfast, they said they were leaving.

Mother Qi tried to persuade them to stay again and again. Her aunt said sourly, "No need, lest these old bones of mine become an eyesore. We better go. But Erzhen, I’m entrusting you with Weiqiu’s matter. You are her aunt by blood; you should pay some attention to this."

Mother Qi quickly agreed. She packed some of the festival gifts that Cheng Su had brought back for them to take along, and personally saw them off before turning back home.

In the living room, there were only a few adults. Xiao Yun and his sibling had long been told by Qi Fenglian to go play at the neighbor’s house.

Seeing Qi Fengping with her head lowered and unusually rounded figure, Father Qi’s hand trembled slightly, a bad premonition in his heart.

Mother Qi was utterly confused.
