Chapter 1652 - 1653: Peace of Mind

Once Qi Fenglian and Cheng Su completed the paperwork, they returned to Qing City. Now that the two of them were officially a couple, and with the New Year approaching, the house definitely needed some tidying up.

Chu Changxing’s house had only two bedrooms and a living room. Initially, thinking it would just be him and his son, it seemed adequate. However, now that he and Qi Fenglian were starting a new family, and she was bringing her children over too, with a total of three kids, it was definitely not enough space.

Both Chu Changxing and his son Chu Zheng agreed that the master bedroom should remain unchanged. The room Chu Zheng used to have should be given to Xiao Yun. After all, Chu Zheng was working outside most of the time now and rarely came home, whereas Xiao Yun was a grown girl and deserved her own room.

But it still wasn’t enough. They couldn’t expect the children to always sleep on the sofa when they came over. Moreover, Xiao Bao was also growing up; was he supposed to sleep in the living room too?

When Chu Changxing got back, he handed his bankbook to Qi Fenglian, saying that as the year was ending, they should make do, and they could sell this house next year to buy a bigger one, at least three or four bedrooms, to make it comfortable.

"...Three rooms will do, four isn’t necessary. In the future, when Xiao Yun goes to school elsewhere, the room will be empty anyway. When she returns, she and her brothers can share." Qi Fenglian conveyed Chu Changxing’s thoughts to Cheng Su.

Seeing her face filled with happiness and contentment, Cheng Su couldn’t help but feel happy for her as well. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Actually, having four rooms has its advantages. What’s your brother-in-law’s son’s name again?"

"Chu Zheng!"

"Hmm, he’s almost twenty, right?"

"His birthday is at the end of the year, he just turned nineteen, but you could say he’s twenty!" Qi Fenglian replied.

Cheng Su nodded, "At that age, he might soon be getting married, right? When he does, he’ll need a room of his own. So, even with four rooms, it barely covers it!"

Qi Fenglian said, "That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking, but to be honest, your brother-in-law’s metal shop isn’t making a lot of money, just slightly better than regular jobs. We don’t worry about getting by, but there’s no talk of great wealth. From what I’ve seen, the money he saved is probably for Chu Zheng’s future wedding. Although he gave it to me, he didn’t say anything other than mentioning buying a bigger house. I’ve thought it over; now that we’re combining families and he’s being so open with me, I can’t take advantage. We must leave some money for that kid’s wedding!"

Cheng Su appreciated her thoughts and said, "Big sister, you’re a sincere person."

Qi Fenglian sighed, "Life is about compromise. The way others treat me is how I’ll treat them."

"That’s true. It’s rare to see both father and son being so generous; that’s the really rare part." Cheng Su laughed, "Let’s do this; I see that most houses now have three rooms. If there’s a suitable one, switch to a three-bedroom. Whether Chu Zheng gets married or not, it’ll be adequate. Life will definitely keep getting better. You and your husband are both hardworking people; if you work hard, you might just accumulate some wealth, and by then, you can change houses again or even buy another."

Thinking that it was already the late 80s and the 90s weren’t far off, houses were really something that the earlier you bought, the better. Or you could just keep them, so he asked if their money was enough to buy a new one.

"If you can afford a new house, there’s no need to sell this one right now. You can keep it for rent, or use it when the kids get married. Houses will only get more expensive, and by then, you won’t be able to buy such a large house for the same price." Cheng Su said.

"I’m just afraid it’s not enough. The current house is a bit dark, so it might be good to change." Qi Fenglian said.

Hearing this, Cheng Su could only agree, "If you come across any difficulties, let us know, we can help."

Qi Fenglian naturally thanked him gratefully.
