Chapter 1741: Chapter 1742: She Really Knows How to Hook Older Men
Ning Ge just happened to be passing by and suddenly started missing Qi Xiaoqi, so he called her over to meet up.
“Why didn’t you come eat at home?” Cheng Su unbuckled Qi Xiaoqi from the carrier and handed him over to him.
Ning Ge caught him, pinched his godson’s cheek, gave him a kiss, and answered, “Qi Taiguo’s not home, and I’m too lazy to go up there. Plus, it’d mean making you two cook. Might as well eat at a restaurant—hands clean, no trouble.”
Cheng Su snorted and asked him where he’d come from.
“I made a trip to Shanghai. Started missing my godson, so I swung by to see him. I’m heading back to the Capital tomorrow,” Ning Ge said.
“Running all over the world… I knew it, someone as busy as you, how would you ever have time to come see us!” Cheng Su laughed, then called Qiulan over and ordered two dishes.
“Look who’s talking. How’d you get this skinny?” Ning Ge pointed at her face.
Cheng Su touched her own face, calmly brewed tea, poured him a cup, and said, “I was sick for a bit, and there’s been a lot going on.”
“What happened?” Ning Ge immediately pressed.
“Nothing much. Qi Taiguo’s eldest aunt in Taiguo had a stroke, I helped deal with things over there. It was a hassle at the time, best not to bring it up. How’s your business going? Everything smooth?” Cheng Su didn’t want to talk about that irritating mess and steered the topic away.
“Not bad.” Ning Ge said, “That plot in the Capital, the buildings are up. We’re getting ready for pre-sales now!”
As he talked about business, Cheng Su listened quietly, chiming in now and then. She actually had quite a bit of insight into real estate, and everything she said hit the mark; Ning Ge really got a lot out of it.
“Anything feel off lately?” After one round of business talk, Ning Ge asked, sounding casual.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Cheng Su shot back.
“Nothing, just asking.” Ning Ge said as he held onto Qi Xiaoqi’s little hand.
Cheng Su put down her teacup and squinted at him.
“Just asking,” yeah right—she’d believe that when pigs fly.
Under her stare, Ning Ge had nowhere to hide. He finally raised his hand and said, “Okay, okay. Chiang Qing’s in the country now, I just wanted to ask if she’s come around to bother you.”
Cheng Su froze for a moment.
Chiang Qing—this name felt familiar yet a little distant. Ever since seeing her in the papers last time, Cheng Su hadn’t taken it to heart, and these days even less so. If Ning Ge hadn’t brought her up, she’d have completely forgotten this person existed.
And as for “bothering” her…
“No, why would she come bother me?” Cheng Su asked, a bit puzzled.
Ning Ge said, “She’s crazy. Who knows what she might pull.”
Cheng Su shook her head. “I haven’t seen her, and I haven’t noticed anything off around me either.”
“Good if she hasn’t.” Ning Ge was actually a bit surprised too. Ever since Chiang Qing came back, there’d been zero movement. Had she really turned over a new leaf?
No way. Someone like her doesn’t just reform. If she’s staying quiet, she’s probably lying low—or she’s gotten smarter.
“Anyway, if you do run into her, be on your guard,” Ning Ge reminded her. “That crazy bitch Chiang Qing, sooner or later I’m going to take her out.”
Better that than having everyone on edge all the time, never knowing when she’ll suddenly bare her fangs and take a bite.
“Is she really that favored by that Shen Rong or whatever his name is?” Cheng Su asked.
“From the info we’ve got, yeah. When it comes to reeling in men, she’s actually got some moves.” Ning Ge thought that didn’t sound harsh enough and added another stab: “Old men.”
Cheng Su couldn’t help laughing. “You make it sound really ugly.”
Ning Ge snorted. “That’s me already being polite.”
Cheng Su smiled, and when she thought of Chiang Qing, her expression drifted a little. She lifted her tea and took a quiet sip. In her heart, was Chiang Qing still thinking about Qi Taiguo? Or was she still stubbornly holding onto that grudge against herself?
