Chapter 1854: Chapter 1856: A Man’s Responsibility
On the second day of the shareholder meeting, just as the meeting was about to begin, Cheng Su saw Cheng Yaozu, who had hurriedly flown in from Guangcheng.
"Rushing like this, why didn’t you fly over earlier yesterday? You wouldn’t have to catch such an early flight." Cheng Su asked him softly.
Cheng Yaozu replied, "I intended to come yesterday. I had already booked the ticket, but Xiao Ya wasn’t feeling well, so I stayed with her for a day and changed the ticket at the last minute."
Since Xiao Ya wasn’t feeling well, which was a serious matter, Cheng Su immediately became tense and asked, "What happened? Where does she feel unwell?"
"She had a fall and disturbed the baby a bit," Cheng Yaozu replied.
Disturbed the baby? Cheng Su’s face changed dramatically, sitting up straight and asking, "How did she fall? Is she alright?"
"She’s fine, just got scared. She stayed in the hospital for a day, and can be discharged today if everything’s alright." Cheng Yaozu comforted, "She was standing on tiptoe to get a book from the office shelf and lost her balance. Luckily, the office has a thick carpet, and she managed to grab the desk for support, avoiding a major accident. But she was frightened."
"You still need a thorough checkup. What did the doctor say? Are you sure it’s nothing?" Cheng Su wasn’t assured. Falling over — she, too, had fallen before, and if it wasn’t for being pushed down later, she wouldn’t have lost the baby.
"We’ve had a full checkup. The doctor said there’s no major issue, but she hasn’t gotten over it mentally, so she stayed in the hospital for observation for a day," Cheng Yaozu said.
"In my opinion, it’s better to stay for observation for a few days. It’s your first child; you should be careful!" Cheng Su frowned.
Cheng Yaozu nodded and said, "I said the same thing, even though she can be discharged today, she should stay put first. If everything’s fine, I’ll fly back after the meeting to be with her!"
Cheng Su was relieved and said, "That’s right. Even if there’s no major issue, being there as her husband will give her peace of mind. Having family around is never the same as having the child’s father. Your concern for them will leave an impression on her heart."
That’s where a man’s responsibility shows. Even with family helping and accompanying, how could a pregnant woman who was frightened not want her man by her side?
Women, in their moments of vulnerability, especially when carrying a child, are most pleased to see their man worried about them and by their side.
The two whispered until all the shareholders were present, and the agenda of the shareholder meeting began.
It was actually about some future development and voting on bringing in funds. The agenda had long been decided, only needing a vote and discussion on some partnership matters at the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Ning Ge, who wore a black and white suit with his hands crossed, speaking eloquently on the agenda, his young, handsome face appearing shrewd and wise.
Who would have thought, this was once a spy. Yet, in Cheng Su’s view, he seemed more suited to stand in the sunlight, chin up and chest out, pointing the way forward.
Thinking back to when she first met him, he grabbed her by the ankle, and thus their connection began...
Cheng Su twirled her pen, a slight smile at the corner of her lips. Fate is truly wonderful.
"...If there’s no objection, please vote, so we can move to the next agenda item," Ning Ge glanced at the shareholders and partners present.
Among those present, they were mostly familiar with each other, except for one or two shareholders that Cheng Su didn’t know. She heard they were childhood friends or brothers of Ning Ge, also from well-established families!
Everyone raised their hand, voted in approval, and proceeded to the next agenda item...
