Chapter 1885: Chapter 1887: A Warm and Loving Chinese New Year’s Eve

With Qi Fengping helping, Cheng Su’s efforts became much lighter. The sisters-in-law worked together and managed to prepare a large table of dishes.

Qi Jianguo helped arrange the bowls and chopsticks, opened a bottle of good wine, and filled a small glass at each seat. The aroma of the dishes and the wine mixed together, creating a sense of satisfaction and temptation.

In the distance, faint sounds of firecrackers could be heard. Cheng Su tidied up the kitchen, removed her apron, and everyone took their seats around the table.

"Time to eat!" Cheng Su clapped her hands and called out to her parents-in-law and the younger siblings: "Everyone, let’s eat."

"You worked hard!" Qi Taiguo whispered in her ear: "Preparing such a big table of dishes."

Cheng Su gave him a gentle push.

Their mumbling attracted glances from the family.

Qi Taiguo then smiled and picked up his wine glass to toast his parents: "Wishing you both good health and longevity year after year."

"Good, good." Father Qi drank his glass, while Mother Qi sipped hers.

Cheng Su followed with a few words of blessing.

Qi Jianguo and his siblings did the same, toasting their parents and their elder brother and sister-in-law, the entire family was filled with happiness and harmony.

"Xiao Qi, you’re the youngest, aren’t you going to toast us with a glass of wine?" Qi Jianguo teased his little nephew.

Qi Xiaoqi was holding a spoon, shoveling the shredded chicken from his bowl into his mouth, which Cheng Su had torn into small pieces for him. Being so young, he couldn’t eat large chunks of meat.

Upon hearing Qi Jianguo’s words, he lifted his head, looked at their wine glasses, and said in a childish voice: "I’m still young, I don’t drink wine!"

Qi Jianguo laughed heartily: "You already know about wine? Do you know what it tastes like?"

Qi Xiaoqi licked his lips with interest, and Qi Taiguo found it amusing, using chopsticks to touch a bit, extending it towards him.

Cheng Su quickly stopped him: "No, children can’t drink, they can’t handle it."

"Just let him lick a little bit." Qi Taiguo said.

"No."

Qi Taiguo had to give up, looking at Xiao Qi said: "You’ll just have to wait until you grow up to try it."

Qi Xiaoqi glanced at Cheng Su, seemingly regretful, and buried his head in his food, making everyone burst into laughter.

A meal of family reunion ended in laughter, everything tidied, and then they dressed to go out to visit the flower market.

People in Guangcheng loved holding flower markets during the Chinese New Year. With stalls selling all sorts of goods, fresh flowers, and branches of peach blossoms, there were also vendors selling snacks.

"There are so many people. Jianguo, Fengping, hold on to Mom and Dad. Don’t get lost, if you do, just take a taxi home," Qi Taiguo instructed his siblings.

"Got it!"

Qi Taiguo placed Qi Xiaoqi on his shoulders, and said to Cheng Su: "You hold on to me too."

"Don’t worry, I won’t get lost!" Cheng Su’s eyes sparkled under the light.

Qi Taiguo smiled: "Yup. None of us will get lost."

Qi Xiaoqi didn’t care much about his parents’ affection, he was busy watching the people coming and going, this world, the dazzling lights, making him feel dizzy and his eyes were not enough to take it all in.

The family took a photo at the entrance of the flower market and then merged into the sea of people, blending with the city and joining in the laughter.

Chinese New Year’s Eve, the lights dazzling, time flying by, as they walked to the riverside, nearby, magnificent fireworks were set off, lighting up everyone’s faces with smiles.

"It’s really beautiful." Cheng Su, with her arm around Qi Taiguo, sighed.

"Yes!" Qi Taiguo, holding Qi Xiaoqi in one arm, hugged her and gave her a kiss on the top of her head.

The huge fireworks blossomed like flowers, full of warmth, as the new year was approaching...
