Chapter 1888 - 1890: The Prosperous Family

Chapter 1888: Chapter 1890: The Prosperous Family

During the New Year, the Cheng family was bustling with activity; everyone was present, including Cheng Jiasheng, who took leave from the army to join them. The big house was lively and noisy.

Old Master Cheng sat in the Taishi Chair, dressed in a dark red traditional Chinese outfit, looking spirited. He stroked his white beard and chuckled, receiving the respectful kowtows from Cheng Su and the others, then handed them thick red envelopes and pulled Qi Xiaoqi over for a chat.

Currently in the Cheng family, aside from Ying Xiaoya’s unborn little princess, Qi Xiaoqi is the youngest. It so happens that while conversing with Qi Xiaoqi, the wise little child speaks in a charmingly mature manner, which endears him to everyone.

Even Cheng Yaoguang, who rarely smiles, praised the young fellow and said to Cheng Su, "Such a little child, acting so proper, like a little adult. How did you teach him? Children should be innocent and playful, not taught to be little old men."

Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo exchanged glances and both displayed a bitter smile. They were somewhat wronged, as they truly hadn’t taught him to be this way; it’s just the child himself...

"This is quite innocent and adorable, big brother. You’ve been in the political scene too long and see everyone as serious," Cheng Yaoyao said, lifting Qi Xiaoqi and laughed, "How about the third uncle takes you to see my treasured collection? They’re historical artifacts, very precious!"

Artifacts?

Qi Xiaoqi’s eyes lit up and he nodded eagerly.

"Hey, hey, third brother, don’t take the children there during the New Year. They’re young, and who knows if those artifacts carry any ominous energy. Don’t take him," Sister-in-law Cheng disagreed and said to Qi Xiaoqi, "Come, the big aunt will give you some snacks!"

"Big Aunt, thank you. But I’ll eat later; I want to see the treasures with my third uncle," Qi Xiaoqi hugged Cheng Yaoyao’s neck tightly, refusing to let go.

Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo exchanged glances again.

"Go on, go on, Xiaoqi. Your third uncle’s items are all antiques. If you fancy any, just ask him to gift them to you. When you grow up, they’ll be worth a fortune!" Cheng Yaozu said with a laugh.

The third brother of the Cheng family claims to be engaged in academic research, but he is truly into archaeology. Over many years, he collected enough treasures to hold a small exhibition.

"I don’t want any; I just want to look," Qi Xiaoqi replied.

Everyone laughed and remarked on his sincerity.

"Let’s go, let’s not mind these adults, let’s go play mahjong. Susu, do you know how to play?" Sister-in-law Cheng pulled Cheng Su aside and asked.

"I know a little bit," Cheng Su said with a smile.

"Great, Susu, help me check the tiles. I just learned, and I’ve lost a lot to the sister-in-laws!" Ying Xiaoya quickly pulled Cheng Su over.

"No way, you’ve got two pairs of eyes watching, yet you still lose?" Cheng Su teased, glancing at her bulging belly. It’s said pregnant women playing mahjong win nine times out of ten.

Ying Xiaoya touched her belly and said, "Girls lean outward, not siding with me, but helping the sister-in-laws rake in the money!"

Although her words were in jest, the sister-in-laws of the Cheng family were quite happy and said with a smile, "Losing a little now, but when Beibei is born, we as aunts will give back tenfold."

It was no secret that Ying Xiaoya’s current pregnancy is a daughter. Daughters are rare in the Cheng family, so everyone is eagerly anticipating her birth. Knowing it’s a girl makes them very happy.

The Cheng family is large and prosperous, with harmonious relationships between the brothers. They are united as one and are all high achievers. Sister-in-laws get along well without any intrigue. They show only affection for Ying Xiaoya, the younger sister-in-law.

Cheng Su watched as they laughed and joked, thinking that this was the atmosphere a big family should have. With good upbringing, the family would prosper.
