Chapter 1955: Chapter 1957: Fifty Thousand—You Can Leave With Honor
Chiang Qing was sitting in Chiang Tian’s office, telling him about her pregnancy and about her decision to make Bi Xiaojin leave.
"Sis, you... you’re really pregnant?" Chiang Tian’s eyes went wide, his excitement no less than Chiang Qing’s own.
Chiang Qing nodded with a faint smile. "I haven’t gone to the hospital to confirm yet, but I’m sure I’m pregnant. I already used a pregnancy test stick myself."
"That’s great!" Chiang Tian clapped his hands, saying excitedly, "Sis, your second half of life finally has some security." And his had, too.
Chiang Qing touched her lower belly, her smile fading as she said, "So Bi Xiaojin can’t stay any longer. Now that I’m pregnant, it’s impossible for me to keep having this sordid thing with him. Give him some money and make him leave the Capital."
"Sis, is this kid his, or the old man’s?"
Chiang Qing’s face darkened. She glared at him. "This child is Shen Rong’s. It has to be his."
Chiang Tian looked awkward. Honestly, it was really hard to say whose it was!
That old bastard Shen Rong was going to be taken for a complete sucker. Poor guy!
"What’s that look supposed to mean?" Seeing his strange expression, Chiang Qing couldn’t help frowning.
"Nothing, Sis. I just think Bi Xiaojin might have fallen for you... he might not be willing to leave!" Chiang Tian chuckled.
"Precisely because of that, he has to leave. If he keeps staying here, he’ll only ruin everything and bring trouble down on us." Chiang Qing said coldly, "He’s already bold enough to call the house. What else won’t he dare to do? Does he have any idea this kind of stunt could get us killed? And you can stop grinning—once this blows up, none of us will get away! Don’t forget, Shen Rong’s in Australia keeping a whole crew of gangsters."
Chiang Tian’s expression changed. "Then yeah, he should be made to go. Now that you’re pregnant, he can be considered to have done his job and retires with honor."
Chiang Qing nodded. "Where is he?"
Chiang Tian glanced at the time and said, "He said he had something to do, he’ll be here a bit late today. He should be almost here." He then dialed an outside line and told them that once they saw Bi Xiaojin, they were to send him to the office—there was something to discuss.
Chiang Qing waited, feeling a dull tightness in her chest. Her eyelids twitched a few times, and that vague sense of unease and restlessness came back.
"I don’t even know why, but I feel really uncomfortable inside, very on edge," she murmured.
"Because you’re pregnant, right? Don’t they say you can get chest tightness and shortness of breath?" Chiang Tian laughed carelessly. He was already calculating how many benefits the old man would give his sister. Oh right, he had to change to a new sports car too! This crappy car he drove now didn’t fit his status.
Was that it? Chiang Qing frowned slightly.
The door was knocked on; Bi Xiaojin walked in. The moment he saw Chiang Qing, his eyes lit up. "You’re here?"
"Sis, you two talk." Chiang Tian looked over at Chiang Qing.
Chiang Qing gave Bi Xiaojin a glance and walked into the small break room inside the office. Without needing to say anything, Bi Xiaojin hurriedly followed.
As the door clicked shut, he stared greedily at Chiang Qing’s face. "You haven’t come for a long time. Have you been alright these days? You look a bit thinner!"
Hearing this concerned question, Chiang Qing’s expression stayed cool. She took a bundle of cash out of her bag and stuffed it into the pocket of his suit jacket. "There’s fifty thousand yuan here. Go. Leave the Capital. Live wherever you want; fifty thousand is enough for you to start some sort of business."
Fifty thousand wasn’t a huge amount now, but it definitely wasn’t small.
Bi Xiaojin froze, looking at the money in his pocket and then back at her. "What... what’s this supposed to mean?"
"I’m pregnant." Chiang Qing said, enunciating each word. "So this is where we end. Go."
