It was like a clap of thunder out of a clear sky, exploding in their ears.

Cheng Su pressed her lips together and looked at Bodyguard Ding, staring at him until he dropped his head, his face full of remorse.

"What, you’re saying, Cheng Su’s mother-in-law? She’s been kidnapped?" Sister-in-law Cheng didn’t really know the inside story of what had been going on; she only knew that lately things around Cheng Su hadn’t been safe, like someone had them in their sights.

But now, her mother-in-law’s been kidnapped?

Old Master Cheng snapped out of it and said in a deep voice, "Quick, tell us what happened?"

Kidnapping is no small matter. The other side might have nothing to do with the Cheng family, but it has everything to do with Cheng Su and Xiao Qi, because that’s Qi Taiguo’s biological mother.

So Bodyguard Ding recounted word for word how he’d gone out with Mother Qi.

"By the time I ran after them, the car was already driving off. I was in a tricycle; there was no way I could catch up with that van, and I lost them!" Bodyguard Ding said, guilt written all over his face.

Cheng Su was very calm. "So you’re saying, over a bit of money, she let herself be sweet-talked away and got kidnapped?"

Bodyguard Ding said nothing. Cheng Su’s tone was even, but everyone could hear the fury and anger underneath.

"Su, now’s not the time to blame her. The urgent thing is to get her back. She’s at this age already; she can’t take being jerked around like that!" Old Master Cheng said. "Eldest daughter-in-law, go call Yaozu and tell him to hurry back. And call the police as well."

Sister-in-law Cheng answered quickly and snatched up the phone to dial.

Fei Yin patted her shoulder to comfort her.
