"Not dead yet?" Mother Qi trembled at the thought of Chiang Qing, saying, "Such a villainous woman should go to hell. Why are the doctors saving her? It’d be better if she were dead!"

Cheng Su remained silent.

"Mom, the law is well-established. Just focus on taking care of yourself and don’t worry about this. Bad people will always be punished." Qi Taiguo said.

Mother Qi fretted, "But if she wakes up and continues being evil, what then?"

Chiang Qing, that venomous woman, was a nightmare to behold.

"Trust the law." Father Qi said, "We are good people, and Taiguo is a soldier. Are we to commit murder?"

Mother Qi pursed her lips, silent.

At this moment, the nurse and doctor arrived; it was time to change Mother Qi’s dressing, and the caregiver stepped up to assist.

Qi Fenglian saw the caregiver and couldn’t help but ask a casual question; Mother Qi’s expression darkened.

"Mom thinks I don’t care for her well enough, so I hired a caregiver." Cheng Su explained casually to the elder sister and father-in-law.

They paused, instinctively glancing at Mother Qi, but Mother Qi’s attention was all on her hand.

It was the first time the dressing was changed, and seeing it now for the first time, the location of the severed finger was stitched together, oddly and gruesomely.

Cheng Su nodded, "I’m going home to tidy up; otherwise, Dad’s and Elder Sister’s places remain messy."

Since only Father Qi and Elder Sister were visiting this time, home needed some organizing.

After changing the dressing, the doctor and nurse left, and Cheng Su and the others re-entered the ward, saying they’d head back.

"Taiguo, you’ve just returned and haven’t rested well, so go home with your wife. We’ll take care of things here." Father Qi eyed his son, noticing his exhaustion, full of concern.

Qi Taiguo agreed.

Once the couple left, Father Qi dismissed the caregiver and started questioning Mother Qi about why a caregiver was hired.

"What’s that about? She’s disappointed, her heart’s gone cold. You criticize her care, hiring a caregiver is natural. Spending money is not an issue.
