Chapter 24
Chapter 24: Six-word Saberplay
It was midday with a scorching sun. However, the conversation between Shiao Tianren and Lin Xun just sent a shiver down Zhou Zhong’s body. He was startled as he could tell Lin Xun’s killing intent towards Lu Ting and Qian Qi.
It was true that Qian Qi, Lu Ting and the rest of the guardians connived with Lian Rufeng to embezzle village property, making all people complain. But still they were members of the village. And more importantly, villagers still relied on them to trade their daily supplies in the Green-sun Tribe. If Lin Xun killed them now, who could help the village with this task?
But Zhou Zhong also knew that Lian Rufeng and the rest of the guardians had changed, who were now more atrocious and brazen than ever that they no longer cared for the villagers. If their evildoing was not stopped, there would be serious consequences.
Zhou Zhong heaved a long sigh after some deep meditation, deciding to leave it alone. It was the village head’s decision, then there must be some reason to it.
Shiao Tianren hurried away after some small talks. Not willing for a longer stay, Zhou Zhong divided up the game with Lin Xun and distributed the shares among households with the help of some strong villagers. However, not a share was left for Lu Ting and Qian Qi. No one objected as what those two did just now was intolerable.
…
In the middle of Lin Xun’s courtyard stood an iron-furnace with fire burning, in which the blood of the snow-spot leopard was boiling and bubbling.
Standing by the furnace, Lin Xun rapidly put various spiritual materials into it, including clotting grass, spiritual dandelion, violet black fruit, etc. Each of these spiritual materials was an elixir for strengthening muscles and bones as well as refining flesh and blood. Refined together with the blood of the snow-spot leopard, they would provide the best effect.
This was a technique of refining spiritual materials.
A spiritual tattooist must be equipped with the ability to identify spiritual materials and fuse spiritual inks.
Lin Xun had learnt from Master Lu since he was a child. Thus, he knew the property and effects of various spiritual materials just like the palm of his hand. However, now he was doing this not for spiritual ink, but for cultivation.
An hour later, all spiritual materials in the furnace fused completely with the blood of the snow-spot leopard and turned into thick and dark red liquid.
It was a medicine soup named spirit refining liquid.
Not until Lin Xun carefully collected all spirit refining liquid from the furnace with a water sac did he smile with relief.
This liquid was great as it could not only refine Qi and blood but also strengthen muscles and bones, thus highly beneficial for physique developing.
Gurgling…
Lin Xun poured a bowl of spirit refining liquid and gulped it down, feeling a hot torrent flooding all over his limbs and bones.
Without any delay, Lin Xun practiced Marching Boxing in his courtyard, his fists blowing the air and his moves vigorous and swift.
He moved swiftly on the courtyard, stirring up the dust and making popping sound in the air.
Soon Lin Xun felt his Qi and blood boiling to the extent of emitting wisps of white smoke from the top of his head. His body was like a burning furnace, and his muscles and bones were full of endless strength without the slightest sign of tiredness.
About an hour later, Lin Xun first twisted then shook his backbone like a dragon, rushed forward with alternate steps and exerted his fists like sea waves roaring with anger, making deafening thunders.
Boom***
His fist struck a hole on the surface of the huge green rock in the middle of the courtyard. The flying debris hit the wall like falling rains, creating pattering sound and presenting a force quite strong.
It was the seventh move of Marching Boxing, WTRM (waves to raze the mountain).
Lin Xun had never been able to exert the full power of this move because of the damage to his Heart Vessel and Four Acupoints.
Now he could do it easily, with unhurried look and long breathing.
Two facts could explain this. On one hand, his Heart Vessel and Four Acupoints profited from its previous misfortune and formulated four spiritual swirls, which not only enabled him to practice the boxing smoothly without any sluggishness but also greatly improved his spiritual quality.
On the other hand, his physique started to change, and was much stronger than before. Besides, the “spirit refining liquid” he swallowed had taken effect to refine his whole body, empowering him to exert the full might of WTRM.
Lin Xun was overjoyed with such a big change within just a few days.
Without any hesitation, his boxing form changed swiftly with a sudden move of his body and his gaze shot like a lightning. In a twinkling, he was like a general who fought in battles and looked arrogantly at all directions.
Boom!
His fists were as strong as a dragon. One single fist in the air was full of fierce power to kill, shaking ripples in air that spread to all directions.
It was the eighth move of Marching Boxing, BTTH (battle through the heaven)!
Lin Xun stayed where he was, feeling the power from his fist. Though he was gasping, his eyes were glistening with joy.
Now he could finally wield the full strength of all eight moves of Marching Boxing.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Xun recollected himself, “If I fight with Lu Ting now, I can defeat him with just a single strike.”
That was absolute confidence! The spirit power surrounding his body became much stronger and solider with two years of lingering on the second level of Martial Realm, Inner Strong, which now was further refined by his four “spiritual swirls”, greatly improving the quality of his spirit power and doubling his fighting capacity.
In such a case, it would be a joke if he could not defeat Lu Ting.
“Qian Qi…” Thinking of the vigorous and snaky man, a chill flashed by from Lin Xun’s clear eyes. Qian Qi was a mighty practitioner at the third level of Martial Realm. If Lin Xun had to fight against him, he must take it with great caution.
…
Lin Xun cooked some meat of the snow-spot leopard for dinner. He had it with spiritual rice then got back to his room and started cultivating without any delay.
He was more than clear that Lu Ting and Qian Qi would treat him as a thorn in their flesh and find every chance they could get to kill him.
However, it was not Lin Xun’s style to wait for the doom. Now that he had made up his mind to get rid of these two threats, he would not allow himself to slack off.
The martial arts he mastered for now were only Marching Boxing and Six-word Saberplay, both of which were taught by Master Lu when he was a child.
Marching Boxing was one of the most basic and also the most popular martial arts in Ziyao Empire, which Lin Xun had long mastered it all.
Six-word Saberplay comprised of six moves, namely splitting, tangling, spinning, shaking, stabbing, and stripping, each with profound meanings.
Initially, Master Lu taught Lin Xun this to improve his speed of dissecting spiritual materials and never mentioned the origin of it. An excellent cutting technique was a must for dealing with complicated spiritual materials.
However, ever since Lin Xun started his cultivation, he realized that the saberplay was definitely not a technique for cutting materials. Instead, it was a powerful and deadly fighting skill.
The first word “splitting” could further transform into 17 different moves, including “heavy splitting”, “side splitting”, “front splitting”, “bound splitting”, “sink splitting”, etc. Every move was designed to hit the critical point of an enemy with the greatest accuracy.
Now Lin Xun could only practice the Six-word Saberplay in a skillful way, far from getting the profound meanings and essence of each move. However, even just at the initiation stage, the power of this saberplay was too strong to be underestimated.
Today at the training ground, Lin Xun used the “heavy splitting” and cut Lu Ting’s whip with just one strike. It would not be hard to imagine the full power of this saberplay.
Lin Xun had long suspected that the Six-word Saberplay was by no means an ordinary manual. However, Master Lu never explained a word about this.
Anyway, Marching Boxing and Six-word Saberplay were the two martial arts Lin Xun now mastered, which were already enough for him to defeat ordinary enemies.
However, Lin Xun focused more on his cultivation, which was the key for evaluating one’s fighting capacity. For example, no matter how proficiently a child could play Marching Boxing, without cultivation, it would be nothing more than a mere form.
Only with the support of cultivation could one manifest his real power in battle.
Gurgling***
Lin Xun’s mind was clear without any distractive thoughts while his spirit power was circulating continuously through his body like a stream.
With the flesh and blood of the snow-spot leopard and spiritual rice as the supplement for his spirit power, Lin Xun’s cultivation, which had been condensed nearly in half, now got back to full saturation after 18 circulations of spirit power throughout his body.
Furthermore, Lin Xun even sensed an apparent sign of breaking through!
All this undoubtedly proved that he had now got rid of his misfortune of being impossible to cultivate and started a completely new journey after the Heaven-accessing Place appeared in his mind.
“I will definitely break through to the next level in seven days!”
Lin Xun’s eyes glistened with confidence in the dark room. If he could make it, then Qian Qi would no longer be a threat to him.
That night, Lin Xun continued to perceive the profoundness of Meditating Magic by observing the cycle of stars and refining his spirit after he cultivated the spirit power throughout his body.
Now it was nearly dawn, but Lin Xun was still in high spirit without the slightest tiredness after a full night’s cultivation. Instead, he could feel that his six senses, including his eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, were becoming more acute than ever.
He could hear the willow leaves floating with breezes, silkworms wriggling under the ground, rustling sound of the dew sliding off grass, the fluttering of a butterfly’s wings, even the sound of air flowing and so much more. All kinds of sounds of nature formed a vibrant world that was so delicate and clear in his mind that Lin Xun involuntarily became peaceful in heart.
This way of distinguishing sounds with six senses to feel the world in small details was something Lin Xun had never experienced before. All this was the effect of a stronger spirit after cultivating Meditating Magic.
Spirit was the essential treasure for cultivation, which was strongly connected with one’s comprehension and wisdom. It was so mystic to describe that even a mighty practitioner in Tao Insight Realm had to gradually explore its profoundness.
But Lin Xun, who just stepped into the stage of cultivation at the second level of Martial Realm, had already begun to contemplate the mystery of spirit!
