Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 1310 - 537: Two Legends! Sweet Potato Fire Meeting!

Chapter 1310: Chapter 537: Two Legends! Sweet Potato Fire Meeting!

The howling heavy snow and biting winds blew for a whole day and night. By dusk the next day, there was still no sign of the storm stopping.

Su Ping squatted in front of a heated brick bed connected to a large stove. In this wintry weather, the orange flames radiated a comforting warmth. Beside him, Qian Yi, Yaya, Xiao Qing, and Old Sha sat around the stove, seemingly warming themselves by the fire just like him.

At the same time, several iron skewers were laid out in front of him, each piercing a sweet potato roasting over the stove. They gave off a simple yet mouthwatering aroma and warmth.

Outside the room, the Beastmasters of the Heavenly Tomb Army were still training, making their final preparations for entering tomorrow.

"Are they done yet?" Su Ping asked, a bit impatiently.

"HISS! HISS! HISS!"

Little Flame, who was acting as a helper and temperature regulator inside the stove, let out indignant hisses. It seemed to complain about why everyone else was waiting to eat while it had to do all the roasting.

Nevertheless, Little Flame still bore the burden willingly. After all, at this moment, even as a Flame Venerable Avatar, the little guy’s Realm was the lowest among the companions present, and the same went for its combat strength.

Qian Yi was still the same; after reaching his race limit, he could only continue to improve by completing an Evolution. He was currently stuck at Monarch Fifth Rank.

As for Little Crow Yaya, its previous Evolution had essentially raised the overall ceiling of the Heart of Myriad Spirits. Now, it had reached the Tenth Rank of the Monarch Level Peak, making it the highest Realm among them. Although it wasn’t his own Pet Beast, it practically felt like one.

Xiao Qing’s Realm continued to stay exactly the same as its master, Su Ping: Monarch Eighth Rank.

As for Old Sha, he had also made a minor breakthrough a while ago, reaching the Monarch Eighth Rank alongside Xiao Qing.

Only Little Flame hadn’t found any other Flame Venerable Avatars recently, and its own growth speed wasn’t exactly fast either. Now, it was merely at Monarch Third Rank. Coupled with its natural affinity for the job, the task of roasting sweet potatoes naturally fell on its shoulders without a doubt.

Receiving Little Flame’s response, Su Ping’s eyes lit up. He and the other four Pet Beasts reached out in unison, grabbing the five sweet potatoes.

Unfortunately, Su Ping clearly hadn’t thought things through completely. It wasn’t an issue with the roasting time, but rather the quantity. Just as he took his first bite, a voice rang out from outside the door.

"MEOW! MEOW! MEOW!

"Su Ping, you rascal, you didn’t even think of me when having good food, meow?"

Along with the familiar voice, a Fortune Cat pushed the door open and walked in. Behind him followed the figure of a seemingly ordinary man.

Su Ping hurriedly stood up, but the man waved his hand.

"Sit."

Saying that, this man—who stood at the pinnacle of the Dragon Nation and even the entire Blue Star—rubbed his hands together in an extremely down-to-earth manner. Looking just like an ordinary man from the Northwest, he walked straight to the stove and sat down cross-legged.

Even the entirely snow-white Fortune Cat leapt onto the stove. His pink nose sniffed the roasted sweet potato in Su Ping’s hand, and he nodded in great satisfaction.

Speechless, Su Ping glanced at the group present and decisively locked his eyes on Qian Yi.

"Qian Yi, give Lord Bai a piece."

"WAAAH!"

Qian Yi pouted in dissatisfaction, but he still tore off a piece of his roasted sweet potato. He handed it to the white Fortune Cat, who, completely unfazed by the heat, was sitting directly on the stove with his wagging white tail even dangling into the fire.

Unfortunately, Su Ping’s little scheme ultimately failed. The man next to him reached out and bluntly broke off half of the sweet potato right out of Su Ping’s hand. He didn’t mind the scalding heat and took a huge bite of the orange sweet potato before finally speaking.

"Are you ready?"

Su Ping nodded. "Yeah."

"As long as you’re ready. Tomorrow, Little White and I will personally escort you into the Heavenly Tomb. Little White will wait for you at the entrance the whole time, so you don’t need to worry about your safety going in and out. As for those Undead, you can just take care of them along the way if it’s convenient."

For a moment, the room fell silent, save for the CRACKLE of the firewood in the stove.

After a long pause, Su Ping finally spoke up.

"You believe I can make it out? If I can’t, will Lord Bai really wait forever?"

The man gave a noncommittal response. "If you really can’t get out, I’ll have Little White fish you out. If worst comes to worst, we’ll just blow up that graveyard. At the end of the day, that thing hasn’t even fully resurrected yet, has it?"

Su Ping raised an eyebrow and smiled. "You’ve learned some things too?"

"I found the intel first. Besides, Charles is such a lowly scumbag—what kind of trick could he possibly have that even I couldn’t handle before?" The man continued carelessly, "However, you don’t need to worry. A graveyard that only allows little guys like you to enter, a piece of trash that throws a fit the moment someone forces their way in—I wouldn’t even want it as my Pet Beast. Why worry about garbage like that?"

Come to think of it, he had a point. Su Ping blinked, pondered for a moment, and nodded. "That actually makes sense."

The man grinned. In their few encounters, Su Ping had almost never seen the man smile. Under the glow of the firelight, his face reflected a reddish hue.

Su Ping thought to himself, "Hmm... he looks a bit goofy. Better if he doesn’t smile."

The man ignored Su Ping’s gaze and clicked his tongue, continuing.

"Tsk. Speaking of which, your experiences are truly quite legendary for a little guy. How old are you? At a mere Monarch Level, you’re already meddling in the resurrection of two of these things. Who knows, you might even encounter a third one in the future. Tsk, tsk..."
