Chapter 4044 - I Will Win

Chapter 4044 - I Will Win

Linfeng and Qingyu had been apart for a long time, and never would they have imagined reuniting under such circumstances. It should have been a joyous occasion, but the eerie purple eyes of Lingfeng and the countless xenofiends behind the vortex gate made the reunion extremely dangerous!

"There's something wrong with him!" Zi Zhen’s expression changed as she quickly pulled Qingyu back. They had only stayed to see if Lingfeng had left any traces and had never expected him to actually appear before them in such a state.

Just as Zi Zhen made a move, Lingfeng also moved. His eyes were cold and eerie as he glanced at Qingyu and said in a ghastly tone, “This is quite a nice bargaining chip.”

He lunged at Zi Zhen and Qingyu. Behind him, countless xenofiends with single eyes on their chests clung to the vortex. They didn’t come out, but let out piercing, excited screeches from within.

"You?" Lingfeng’s eyes suddenly locked onto Zi Zhen, just in time to see her transform into the purple demon!

"You aren’t from the astralscape of order?" His brows furrowed sharply, and he sneered, “A creature of the Primordial Era dares to sneak into the Everlasting Universal Body to try and take a share? You think there's anything here for you?”

As Lingfeng spoke, the black vortex in his chest suddenly spun in reverse, releasing a violent purplish-black force. It was neither soul power nor ordinary energy, but something bizarre and ominous. The moment it wrapped around Zi Zhen, it formed a giant cocoon that sealed her inside!

Zi Zhen said nothing, but launched a frenzied assault on the cocoon. However, the thing kept morphing and she couldn’t tear it open for the time being.

“Zi Zhen!”

With Zi Zhen suppressed, only Qingyu remained in front of Lingfeng. There was no doubt that the one now in control of Lingfeng’s body wasn’t him, but the terrifying being from the Xenoworld, Di Yi!

“Come with me into the Xenoworld.” Di Yi maliciously grinned, then reached out and grabbed Qingyu, dragging her toward the gate of the Xenoworld.

Qingyu remained unflustered, her gaze burning as she looked at the familiar person before her. She held a belief in her heart that the one meant to be with her would never let anyone harm her.

At that moment, the Soulfiend suddenly crashed into Lingfeng from the side, turning into a storm of soul force that rushed into Lingfeng’s brain. There was a massive purple eye there, its bloodshot veins stretching out like tens of thousands of octopus tentacles, rooting themselves in Lingfeng’s brain and body!

It was full-on parasitism!

The Soulfiend roared in fury. As it merged with Lingfeng’s vita, a berserk black flame ignited, scorching the purple veins until they trembled and convulsed. The massive purple eye let out a furious, painful screech as the purple veins in Lingfeng’s eyes receded, and his original dark red eyes emerged once again.

His gaze met Qingyu’s and his formerly cold expression suddenly softened. Amidst the chaos, he smiled gently and said, “He’s panicked. I’ll win. Don’t worry.”

After saying those few words, he shoved Qingyu away and fell backward into the vortex of the Xenoworld.

The vortex twisted, then contracted and vanished and the eerie sounds of the xenofiends were cut off.

Qingyu landed on the ground, her expression anxious as she looked toward where the vortex had been. The image of Lingfeng seemingly falling into a sea of xenofiends, being swallowed by them, was seared into her brain.

“Little Feng!” Qingyu’s eyes turned red as tears welled up; her heart was in turmoil.

After Lingfeng disappeared, the giant cocoon around Zi Zhen vanished as well. She broke free and saw that Qingyu was still there, then breathed a sigh of relief as she quickly approached.

“Was he himself at the end?” Zi Zhen asked.

“Mhm. It was probably thanks to the Soulfiend. It followed him in,” Qingyu softly answered. It was clear her heart deeply ached.

“At least he has a companion. That might give him more options.” Zi Zhen recalled, “He said just now that he would win?”

“Yes....” Qingyu nodded.

“It shows he still has confidence. That’s a good sign, right?” Zi Zhen gently patted her back. “Don’t worry too much—there’ll be a way. Your brother will return soon after delivering the little beastballs.”

“I know.” Qingyu took a deep breath and sincerely said, “I just feel so helpless, like I can’t do anything.”

“I understand,” Zi Zhen replied.

What followed was casual chatter, but Qingyu clearly had something on her mind. She couldn't bear the current state of just waiting. Between her and Lingfeng, it had never been just about passive waiting. They were always actively running toward each other.

Not long after, Qingyu took out the Original Sin Pool, since most of the bloodline inheritances of the Eightpart Pantheons were still lying within it. “I’m going to try again,” Qingyu said to Zi Zhen.

“Isn’t that dangerous? Why not wait for your brother?” Zi Zhen asked with concern.

“No.” Qingyu shook her head with a smile. “My brother carries too much weight on his shoulders. I can’t rely on him for everything.”

Zi Zhen stayed silent for a while. Seeing the determined look in Qingyu’s eyes, she understood. As a woman, she could relate to Qingyu’s feeling of helplessness. If it were her, she would also take the chance regardless of the risks. A flower grown in a greenhouse can never go far!

Qingyu expanded the Original Sin Pool and, without another word, leapt in.

The bowl flipped over, completely sealing it. The ark quickly fell into silence and the Original Sin Pool showed no movement. Zi Zhen was worried and stayed by its side to guard it.

It was dead silent at first, but around two weeks later, the Original Sin Pool suddenly began trembling and gold and black patterns shone on its surface. The figure of a goddess of moonlight flickered within, and thunderous bird calls rang out.

Sometimes the bird cries would turn into the deep, echoing call of giant kun fish.

Finally, there came the moment the Original Sin Pool rose into the air and began shrinking in midair, then clattered to the ground and dimmed. Thick smoke billowed where the pool had been. Then, two dazzling stars, a woman and a peng bird, emerged

“She’s transformed,” Zi Zhen said in surprise, but inside, she was genuinely happy for Qingyu.
