Chapter 601: Leonid Tepes Volkov
Chapter 601: Leonid Tepes Volkov
Selene’s fair skin looked pale on the best of days, but when Nikolai glanced at her sleeping face, he couldn’t help but reach out in worry.
“Honey, you’ve fought hard.”
The small incubator hummed with a gentle hiss as his son lay quietly inside. At first, he worried, shouting at the doctor for putting his child inside a box, even though he understood it was just protocol because of his bloodline.
Nikolai smeared medicine on her cracked lips with a faint smile, waiting for her to recover. His parents came earlier, with Selene’s mother, to offer congratulations. But again, Sasha kept everyone outside and only Selene, Nikolai and those who completely sterilised themselves in a special machine first could come close to the baby.
He slowly and meticulously cared for Selene, wiping and cleaning her face and bloody fingers, cut from the twisted metal on the bed.
“What a troublesome little wife you are.” He mused while dragging his chair beside the small incubator and closed his eyes.
The moment he did, the small child’s body shimmered with a purple, sparkling light that enveloped Nikolai, and he slumped into a deep sleep, with furrowed brows, and he whispered Selene’s name.
“Wooo~” As the two parents snored, the boy’s purple eyes shimmered before slowly closing as if too heavy to keep open.
Nikolai dreamt of hell once again, his body and flesh torn apart while fighting against a mysterious threat that could match his abilities and powers pound for pound.
His skin bubbled, as if able to feel the searing heat of the red sand. His lips cracked after taking a blow to the face. Inside the small room, the link of his actual body and astral state surpassed reality as he suffered in the dream.
No matter how hard he fought, roared and drained his blood, the red figure he fought just laughed, snickered while it tore him apart with a measured and graceful ease.

Selene’s body felt heavy and sore from the moment she awoke; even being ravished by Nikolai didn’t leave her in such a foul state.
“Nn…”
Her eyes slowly fluttered open, the memories of what happened flowing through her brain as she curled her lips into a bright smile. “Honey, are you awake?” She shoved Nikolai’s arm, clutching him as she called out to him.
‘This big wolf, why is he sleeping so well now?!’
With a huff, she slumped beside him, her eyes able to see both Nikolai and the sleeping baby clearly. Her eyes narrowed into thin, curved slits before she glanced at her husband with a slightly irritated expression. “Wake up!” She pinched his arm while pouting.
However, he didn’t move or react, which caused her mood to sour. She then noticed the slowly healing scars on his wrist and bit her lip. The moment her pearly whites sank into her flesh, she felt a sharp pain.
‘This is nothing compared to the pain he went through for me and our baby.’
Despite suffering herself to give birth, Selene accepted that pain as something she needed to endure as the child’s mother. Then what about Nikolai? Did he really need to have his flesh sliced, torn and forced open to save her life?
Thinking about this, she felt a warmth spreading in her chest and stopped pinching his arm, instead stroking it. “Honey~ let’s wake up and meet our new child. He’s so cute and waiting for us in that cold box.”
Selene pulled Nikolai with a large movement, and that’s when she noticed something strange: his cracked, bloody lips, strange bruises all along his neck and abdomen. “W-What’s happening?” She panicked, wanting to reach for the call button, because more and more wounds appeared the longer she watched.
A cut.
A deep bruise.
A sudden snap of his left wrist.
He let out a sudden groan as blood steamed from his nose and lips.
“Why?! What’s going on… Nikolai, speak to me!”
Selene slapped his face, kissed him, held his nose trying to wake him, but nothing worked. As her breathing became rapid, struggling to calm down, she clung to him with tear-filled eyes. It was then…
“Waaa!”
“Ah, baby, did mommy wake you?” Suddenly, their child’s high-pitched cries echoed through the room, piercing the incubator easily.
The tired Selene dragged herself free and stepped on the cold floor with her bare feet, struggling to walk with her unstable steps.
She soon reached the incubator.
“Eh? What’s that light?” She narrowed her eyes, squinting as if confused, as a purple light shimmered around Nikolai before it seeped back into their child.
Shockingly, the moment the light sank into the child’s body, its cries slowly faded, and the little thing returned to a light sleep.
Selene’s heart pounded; the purple light she saw carried a similar feeling to Nikolai’s body when he used his Báthory blood art. After becoming his woman, each time he moved as if able to see the future, she could feel a tingling prick spread across her skin.
“N-Nikolai?”
She called out to him, just in case.
“Ugh…” His hoarse groan sounded pained as he slowly shook his shoulders and rolled his head to face Selene. “I heard our son crying. What happened?” Groggy and covered in wounds, he shook his head before noticing Selene clinging to the bed to remain standing.
“Honey, what are you doing… come here. Let me carry you.”
Selene’s heart throbbed when he said things in such a domineering way; she wanted him to whisk her off her feet. The dull ache that spread from her abdomen really made her thoughts jumbled. “The baby cried, our baby cried and I…”
“I know, I know, be good. Your body has yet to recover fully. Let me do everything at least for today, alright? Do you want to feed? Okay, be good! Here, bite my neck.”
She noticed her husband’s cheeky grin. He slid off the chair and scooped her up with a single arm; his muscles pressed against her back. ‘Mhm.’ She loved the feeling of his muscles wrapping around her; it gave a sense of security.
Similar to Nikita, once she gave birth, all the energy from eating human food or the blood Nikolai let her guzzle all went to their children. Thus, right now, Selene was no better than a dried husk if someone looked inside her.
‘He’s such an amazing husband~ why did I give him a hard time in the past?’
Selene leaned her head against his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his neck as she watched him quietly. As his massive hand wrapped her buttocks and lifted her, the thick scent of his body flowed into her nose.
Bitter, strong and masculine.
She loved his smell, whether it was his body, or saliva, anything that came from him, she found herself addicted to the scent and taste.
‘Am I a freak?’ Selene wondered as she traced his Adam’s apple with her fingertip, her vampire fangs already extending from sheer thirst.
“Hey, did you have an idea about his name?” Nikolai asked, as she sniffed at his neck, and pressed her fangs against his firm throat. As they sank into his flesh, her eyes gradually closed, almost as if entering a dream-like state. “Mm~ Leonid.”
Nikolai’s throat sounded as her fangs sank two inches deep. As if matching her, his hand gripped her ass tighter, sinking his fingers deep into her soft flesh.
“I see, Leonid, Leon… he does have your blonde hair after all…”
Selene’s mind turned white the moment Nikolai’s blood touched her lips; she stopped caring about anything but this delicious and godly feast. Her princess temperament vanished as she slurped and smacked at his neck, snorting and eating like a greedy pig.
Whereas Nikolai just held her tightly with a smile, looking down at his son.
“Hello Leonid, I’m your father.”
His son’s face was softer than his, the same oval shape with smooth cheeks as his mother, only the eyes resembled Nikolai, sharp and fierce. He truly suited the name based on a fierce predator like a Lion.
“Mmmh!” Selene’s face pulled away from Nikolai’s neck with an entranced expression, her cracked lips now bright red, and glossy the dull, dry skin, which faded and became vibrant and shone under the light.
Her beauty seemed to have evolved, surpassing the past Selene, becoming something more unique… like a true queen, she glanced at her husband and child, then curled her lips.
“Nikolai, thank you.”
She spoke with a more elegant and calm tone as she sank into his embrace, the subtle glow she emitted fading into her body.
“What are you thanking me for, idiot?” Nikolai nuzzled her with his nose before sitting on the stool and placing her on his lap. “Look, our son Leonid Tepes Volkov.”
“Really, you’ll give him my family name too?”
“Of course? I promised you.”
“Mm.”
Nikolai noticed Selene’s subtle change, like Nikita, who became more aggressive and sensual; vampires and werewolves were a little different.
Once a vampire gained a child with their chosen partner, their emotions settled, became deeper, but also more dangerous. If he ever tried to abandon Selene or their son in the future, she would likely chase him to the ends of the earth, or even enter hell.
But she wouldn’t try to hurt or hate him, but love him deeply, make him give her another child.
Their love bordered on the most extreme level of obsession after giving birth.
The pair sat quietly and clasped hands, intertwining their fingers, occasionally matching gazes, and kissing. It was this kind of affection that Nikolai once dreamt of when he was younger, because of his father’s old stories.
He adored all his wives, but one promise he made to himself—an oath of sorts.
Nikolai would give them all a unique and sincere time when they gave birth to his children.
Yesterday, because of ongoing medical complications, we had to put our black cat Loki to sleep.
I didn’t think it would make me struggle more than when my mother passed.
Stupid cat.
