Chapter 606: Visiting The Nexus

Nikolai stepped out onto the street, his long black trench coat flickering in the wind, as rain trickled down from the sky, bouncing off the ground. He glanced back at his customised MW1, a mixture of two high-class brands, both RR and Ferrari.

"I guess nothing special happened this time."

He couldn’t remember the last time he left the compound just for a walk alone, or to enjoy the city, although he’d dated his wives.

It was different.

As he reminisced, he approached his car.

Back when he went to the Nexus alone, visited the arena, but despite wanting to reach the top ranks, he never came back. To the days when Nikita still stalked him, and Selene hid her affection for him behind a cute, but slightly annoying, temper.

’Anya and my wives are too good for me.’

When he told Anya that there was something important he needed to do, she immediately agreed and said that she could wait for their date because she enjoyed his company while in Londis.

Clara, too, this cute little woman just blushed, saying. "We can date in Al’Qutar, Brother Nikolai."

A car that cost over two hundred million dollars shot through the streets, windows, bulletproof and bombproof, like the chassis. Ivan and Dimitri came together with Nagisa and the other members of the clan to put this car together.

Nikolai’s muscles tightened as the force slammed him into the seat. It was addictive and amazing to drive this fast. His dynamic vision moving at rapid pace, beyond a human’s wildest dreams.

But he tapped a button, and the immense G-force immediately cut in half.

"WOOOOO!" He shouted out the window, his body tingling from excitement. This was what being rich was about. A year of constant fights, being forced to lead, even dealing with his wives, at this moment, Nikolai felt free.

Like a knight and his mount, a cowboy riding through the wild west, his hands gripped the wheel as the zero gravity seat rumbled with a soothing massage.

’I’ve finally made it!’

His heart and mind finally synchronised, that poor and inferior little boy vanished, his teens and college years flashing through his eyes as he drove past the closed buildings with a faint smirk.

Emotions and adrenaline pumped through Nikolai’s veins as he finally discarded the lingering attachments to his past life, his past feelings and regrets. It was him now, the handsome, tall patriarch who ruled the city.

"Haaaa..." with a long breath, he slowed the engine, coming to a comfortable cruising speed, and turned around the southern district, his eyes narrowed at the sights. He couldn’t forget that hellish place, wondering if he might end up there in the end.

Somehow, he didn’t think the masterminds of this were truly the Nosferatu or Alucard.

’A man who just wants to save his wife, how could he be the one to destroy the world? There must be someone who told him, whispered the truth of our Volkov bloodlines. The only ones who could do that were...’

Nikolai’s mind became clear, calm and peaceful.

His outburst faded into a soothing mindset, as nothing could shake him.

"The tower, or at least those arrogant divine beings who still linger even now, trying to steal our world and future."

The Nexus wasn’t far away.

Nikolai, in this enhanced car, reached the outskirts of the old colosseum in minutes after his mind became so focused. He leaned back, letting the seat slowly rock, and massaged him before picking up the phone.

It rang several times before a deep, familiar voice answered.

"Dad."

"What’s up, Nikolai?"

After Leonid’s birth, Ivan became extremely delighted, constantly waiting for the medical team to say he could enter.

Nikolai would be lying if he weren’t jealous, but he pushed those thoughts back.

"I need you and Uncle Dimitri to look into something for me." He paused for a moment before nodding to himself. "Use my counsel to help you."

"Okay, son. What do you want me to look into?" The father and son bonded in the basement of the Volkov compound. They found many secrets about the past and what happened, even the theory about the towers.

"I need you to find out, exactly WHEN Alucard Nosferatu started plotting against us, when it started. Who he contacted, where he went, and don’t forget his wife Mikaela, mom knew her, so have mom help you too."

Ivan remained silent for some time, but he just asked in a stern voice.

"Have you figured something out?"

"Dad, I am not completely sure, but if my hunch is true. I believe we’re facing something bigger than just that old man." Suddenly, he glanced at Zara standing outside the Nexus, unable to stop himself staring as he swallowed.

She couldn’t hide her skin well in this world, so she usually wore bodysuits in public, but today, as if she had given up, her plump thighs and perky buttocks flashed when the wind blew her skirt.

"Okay, then I’ll look into it for you. Be safe out there."

Ivan wouldn’t panic or show an overly worried side to Nikolai; they both knew each other’s hearts. "I’ll trust you with my son, Dad. Help me raise him well."

"You cheeky brat, don’t take too long! You’re not too old to be spanked just yet."

With a click, the phone call ended; neither of them needed more than this.

He parked his car in the underground lot before heading to the entrance.

Nikolai glanced at the Nexus, a place where only monsters usually entered, but somehow it was quite empty. The flashes of people transferring worlds seemed to have diminished, and the blue sphere in the middle of the stage also looked different.

"Has it gotten smaller?"

While he was musing, a sultry voice sounded from beside him.

"I believe so, my kinsmen also noted that each moon cycle, the Nexus orb seems to be losing power and size." Zara’s lips brushed past Nikolai’s cheek as she leaned close, her eyes peeking at him with an amused curve.

"You took so long, I thought you were going to stand me up, Nikolai."

"Heh, how could I stand my future wife up?"

"Oh my~ you’re actually going to honour our deal?"

"Why wouldn’t I? You’re such a beauty, I shouldn’t take a loss."

"You’re really beautiful, those clothes suit you well, Zara."

Maybe she didn’t expect him to flirt, or that because of her extra limbs and their differences, he might not want to go all the way. However, when their bodies brushed against each other, she felt it clearly.

He wanted her.

His actions troubled the young Djinn princess, and although her pink cheeks hid it, Nikolai caught the slightly deeper blush on her face.

But as a gentleman, he let it go and offered her his arm while also looking at Clara, who seemed enthralled by the sparkling gateway.

"Shall we head inside, princess?"

"My pleasure, young lord."

Nikolai hesitated for a moment, thoughts about his wives, allies, and responsibilities flashing through his mind, before he shook his head.

’The sooner I finish, the better.’

Once he finished in Al’Qutar, there was only Nosferatu left.
