Chapter 636: Conflicted
Chapter 636: Conflicted
Clara remained motionless as she watched their act in silence.
Her black eyes penetrated through the soul force barrier, much like any other blood art. Much like the night before, when she tried to monopolise him. It was now Zara’s turn to enjoy the act with Nikolai.
’This isn’t what I wanted...’
She clenched her fists so tightly that they trembled, watching Zara’s hips bounce faster and faster. ’What’s so good about all that excess fat anyway?!’ Her shout released her pent-up anger as she cupped her chest, still glued to the scene.
Despite the negative emotions flowing through her mind, there was a strange, unexpected trace of delight. A pleasant yet shameful quiver of desire arose in her abdomen as she watched another woman with her husband.
The moment she noticed, this desire grew faster and faster like a seed taking root, and finally, as her hand slid lower, caressing herself, it bloomed.
’No, no, no... I am not this kind of girl.’
Her internal screams went unnoticed as her hand continued to circle her lips, parting them with her index and ring fingers, letting her middle finger stroke the swollen bead.
’I hate this, it’s not me, but why... am I so wet?’
Despite Clara’s internal rejection, she continued on the spot, secretly intoxicated at the explicit display inside that small barrier.
Time passed like flowing water, and before she realised, everything ended.
"Eh?"
With a pounding heart, she examined her fingers, quickly turning away as she blushed, unable to accept what she’d done. ’Am I a pervert?!’ None of the other women mentioned such things to her, and so she struggled to ask.
Inside a swirl of confusion grew, but within that a dark, aggressive impulse lingered.
The moment she saw Zara emerge from the dome while in Nikolai’s embrace. Clara’s chest suddenly constricted. ’It hurts so much...’ It might have been the first time she experienced such pain. ’My heart is going to burst!’
"Oh, Clara?!"
Nikolai noticed her instantly, his handsome face bright and sunny like always, ’ah...’ With a single smile, the pain faded, but her heart kept racing. "N-Nikolai." Her usual cute attitude was impossible. ’Brother...’
Maybe calling him brother was some kind of defence mechanism; their relationship was shallow at first. A pair almost half forced together by their race, she was born to seduce and kill monsters, and he was a delicious source of energy for her.
’It’s strange.’
Clara stroked her chest while scrunching her face.
"Clara, what’s wrong?"
Although he didn’t leave Zara’s side, Nikolai’s worried shout created a comforting ripple that filled Clara’s body with comfort. "N-Nothing, I just." Clara peeked at Zara, who pulled out her tongue and lifted her chin with a smile.
’This arrogant cow woman!’
The fairy’s fighting spirit burned.
"Well, don’t feel guilty about what happened. Let’s find somewhere to talk and plan how to deal with that creep." Nikolai stared at her intently, though his hand squeezed Zara’s behind at the same time.
Clara wanted to smile, but seeing his hand, she forced herself to nod.
"Nn."
"Let’s visit my private room, noone will come there."
Finally, Zara spoke, her speech exaggerated and slowed. As if advertising the intense fun she shared with Nikolai a few moments before.
"That sounds good, what do you think, Clara?"
Nikolai’s words always caused this strange tingle, but today she hated it. Clara didn’t want to nod, didn’t want to smile and pretend she was fine. ’If I say I hate it, will you stop?’ She shook her head lightly, knowing Nikolai wasn’t such a cruel man.
’He would probably agonise over how to make things right.’
To be selfish here wasn’t her style, and so Clara nodded and skipped over to the pair.
In reality, Zara probably wouldn’t have changed so much if she hadn’t shown off last night. Clara bit her pink lips, uncertain as to why she did that. In the heat of the moment, did she let her desires overwhelm her conscious mind... or maybe... ’I’m actually possessive?’
Either way, she could only follow.
’Lest these two start having sex again!’

To describe Zara’s room, Nikolai could only use a single word: extravagant.
Not just the size, which came close to the whole floor of Nikolai’s mansion back home, but the fixtures and decorations included a pure golden display, a diamond-encrusted portrait of Zara and countless priceless artefacts which she identified for them.
"So, how do you like it so far?" Zara cheekily sat on Nikolai’s lap, her new dress much looser, allowing him to peek inside clearly.
Beside him, Clara wore the Shadow Guard outfit.
But that in itself carried an immoral sense of seduction, tight, latex bodysuits wrapped in cloth and right now, the cloth garments lie folded on the table.
"Keep your eyes up here, mister." Zara hummed, using her extra hand to lift his chin while sneaking a peek at Clara, who remained quiet beside them. "Didn’t we come upstairs to discuss what to do next? It’s clear my dearest uncle wants to cause trouble."
"Well, what kind of move do you think he’ll take after this?"
Not knowing the political methods of the Djinn well, Nikolai held back from giving his full opinion, so he asked Zara to learn more first.
"Hm, well, there’s nothing much he can do, but the most likely thing he’d try is to garner support or create dissent between the old elders."
Zara looked at Nikolai, who leaned to the side, with a shrug. "They’re the ones who wish to put me on the throne because of the old traditions and laws... but if they hear I am dead. The next in line would be my uncle, as following an Al’Qutar, it would be a Balthazar."
"Why can’t they just let your brother and his wife rule? Aren’t they the perfect couple?"
To Nikolai’s solid question, Zara grimaced and sighed.
"In a perfect world, yes, but the truth is that Sister Verna was born out of wedlock and to a mere maid who carried an unknown bloodline." She then smiled bitterly, "You should know what blood means to families and nations like ours."
’Damn, there’s nothing I can say to that.’
"Isn’t there anything we can do?"
Clara watched the two of them, sometimes frowning or furrowing her brow, then she asked a question which brought Nikolai’s true feelings to the front and centre. "Do you not want her to become queen, Brother?"
"Ahem..."
"Eh?" Zara’s eyes widened as she glanced at Nikolai.
He didn’t deny Clara’s words, glancing at her with a wry grin, then faced Zara and shrugged. "I know what it means to you and can only say sorry for being selfish, but if you are here as Queen, can we exist as a couple anymore?"
The moment he spoke, Zara’s face went through several changes; first, it became pale, then recovered before she turned deep red as she covered her face with all six hands. "Oh my goddess, it’s so embarrassing to think what we just did."
’What a cute reaction, but... does she agree?’
Nikolai didn’t want to force his women into anything.
If she chose to become queen, then he would support her and find a way to make it work. He just wanted to let her know his current feelings at least. Clara took this momentary chance to cling to his opposite side, ignoring the struggling Zara, and rubbed her modest curves against Nikolai’s arm.
’This fairy is trying to tempt me again...’
He couldn’t heartlessly shake her off and just enjoyed the softness of her curves.
Zara recovered quickly, but the red tinge remained, even though the tips of her ears changed colour. She took a deep breath, then looked Nikolai dead in the eyes, and gripped his hand with hers.
"I don’t know whether I should become queen or not, but if there is a way to help my people and stop this bloodshed with my sacrifice. Then..." She swallowed, her eyes welling with tears.
"Don’t force it. I will support your choice." He cupped her hands, squeezing them tightly, before he met her eyes once again and nodded. "If you become queen, then I can only become your king and make it work."
’Yes, this is what I want. It feels good to be honest.’
To see the relief so blatantly wash across her face, Nikolai’s shoulders also felt lighter, and now they could make a solid plan together.
"So, let’s make a plan."
"Mhm."
Their heads leaned closer, about to touch each other’s lips, when Clara suddenly butted in.
"What if we keep the news of your survival a secret, then use that chance to capture and deal with all the people who would switch sides and betray your brother, to make that man the king?"
Clara’s eyes opened and closed quickly, fluttering her long lashes.
’What a good plan!’
Nikolai couldn’t help but grab the small fairy and hug her tight, exploring her back with his hands as she nuzzled against his chest.
"This is a good idea." He said with a strong, confident voice.
Even Zara, who pouted at their sudden hug, couldn’t help but watch Clara and smile.
"Thanks, Clara. That’s a really good idea, I didn’t think that far, and planned to open a do or die resistance..."
Clara glanced at Zara for several seconds before she smiled.
"No, it’s okay. I am just happy to help, sister."
’Huh? Did something suddenly change?’
Nikolai looked at the two women as he pulled back from Clara, noticing that they no longer held that same kind of resistance with each other.
