Chapter 706: The Perfect Bait
Chapter 706: The Perfect Bait
Nikolai scanned the images and choppy videos which caught the woman’s figure, but not a single one showed her face, only her impressive tits and sensual body. It was a little eerie that such a perfect figure existed.
"Is she like the others... an abomination?"
"Maybe."
Alexei leaned closer to the display, seriously analysing the woman’s movements before sighing at the lack of clear details.
"But if she is, she’s different from the ones we’ve seen before."
Vernan crossed his arms, his thick fingers tapping against his bicep.
"The mutants and zombies created by those bastards are ugly as hell, even with all the makeup in the world, could they make one like her?"
Nikolai couldn’t help but smile as he focused on the images.
The broken footage showed the woman walking along the lower access road, hips swaying with an almost unnatural rhythm. It was like she was born to seduce men. Her clothes clung to her body like a wet suit, but no matter which camera caught her, her face remained hidden beneath shadows, hair, or static.
It was definitely too deliberate.
Her pale, beautiful skin, dark red lips...
Nikolai felt that her body and shape matched his taste in women almost perfectly.
"Have you not noticed that she knows where every camera is, and is blatantly showing that with her disgusting performance?" Selene huffed through her nose as she glared at Nikolai, who still watched the woman’s hips bouncing. "She’s got tits like Kumiko and an ass like Amphitrite..."
"Selene..."
"What?" Her crimson eyes narrowed further. "Am I wrong?"
Nikolai’s lips twitched, but he didn’t answer because she wasn’t wrong.
The woman in the footage possessed a body that looked almost crafted to match every dangerous preference he had. Not just beautiful, she was deliberately beautiful. It was strange that she matched every place that would naturally draw his eyes, yet never enough detail to show identity.
"I don’t think it has anything to do with me, though... shall we test the theory?"
"And every angle shows exactly enough to keep men watching."
Vernan coughed into his fist.
Alexei glanced at him.
"Don’t."
"I said nothing."
"You were about to."
Vernan clicked his tongue but didn’t deny it.
The three men couldn’t help but admit that everything he said was true.
She was that alluring.
Nikita leaned over Nikolai’s shoulder, her white hair brushing his cheek as she peered at the frozen image.
"Hmm... I hate her."
Selene chuckled into her palm.
"What, are you jealous?"
"Hmph... aren’t you? Look at how big those things are, I hope they sag!"
Nikita’s yellow eyes remained fixed on the screen, but her expression was no longer playful.
"If I saw her walking like that in a peaceful street, I’d think she was trying to steal someone’s husband. But the places she’s going have nothing to do with peaceful, they’re all close to our outpost and targeted towards werewolves!"
"Well, you’ve got a point for once, Nikita..." Selene shrugged, glancing at Nikolai from the corner of her eyes. "Our idiot of a husband would probably forgive her if she flashed those things for a few minutes."
Nikolai’s spine shuddered as if someone poured cold water down his shirt.
’Hm?’
He glanced around to find Selene and Nikita whispering amongst themselves, while both glaring at him.
’What did I do now?’
At first, he glanced down to make sure he didn’t have an erection. Luckily, he’d managed to endure thanks to fooling around with his wives for the past few days.
Selene exhaled through her nose, then tapped the screen with one gloved finger.
"The issue is not only her body. Look at the timing."
Sarah stepped closer and adjusted the footage.
The woman appeared near the lower access road, vanished behind a broken truck, then reappeared near another camera 30 seconds later.
The issue was that the camera was a thousand metres away in the opposite direction, with no direct route due to the current building works, and she was in a completely different outfit.
"Wait..." Nikolai paused the feed, then slowly reversed it.
He slowed the speed several frames lower, before it became unbearably slow.
"Watch the moment she vanishes and appears!" He exclaimed.
The moment the woman vanished, she wore a kimono; upon reappearing, she wore a tight-fitting bodysuit, and her makeup showed a subtle change.
"Oh, she changed clothes!" Nikita pointed and bounced on the spot.
"Not just that, Kita... look at her cheek, there’s a beauty spot beneath her eye in this one, but the other has none." Nikolai cleared his throat before continuing. "Also... the size of this woman’s chest is closer to Selene’s... and she has your lower body shape."
"W-What!?"
"...Nikolai?"
Both Nikita and Selene made a sound at his comment.
"No, wait... that’s not what I meant."
Nikolai realised how dangerous his words sounded a second too late.
Nikita’s ears flattened as she grabbed one of the batons attached to the wall while Selene’s eyes sharpened, both women staring at him as though he’d stepped on a mine.
"Explain," Selene said.
"Yeah~ explain!" Nikita added.
Nikolai rubbed his brow, then pointed at the two paused images.
"The first woman has a body closer to Kumiko and Amphitrite, but the second one is different. Her posture, waist, chest, hips, and even how she walks are completely different; it’s a more energetic bounce than the sensual movements of the first. It’s not the same woman."
Alexei leaned closer again and took a quick look before pulling away.
"He’s right."
Vernan’s joking expression faded, but he still couldn’t help but compare the woman on the screen to both Nikita and Selene before patting Nikolai’s shoulder.
"Then there are at least two?"
Sarah adjusted the footage, splitting the frames side by side.
The difference became clearer once they stopped staring at the obvious parts. The shoulder width, the length of the neck, the angle of the feet, and even the way their hands hung near their thighs were different.
Nikita’s tail stopped moving as she stood in front of the two videos, her eyes narrowed to slits, humming to herself with her arms folded.
"...They’re copying women?"
Selene’s face appeared pale, her eyes darting between the image and Nikolai’s face as she stepped closer, step by step, until she grasped his hand softly.
"It’s not just any woman... It’s like they’re combining the traits from women close to him."
Nikolai didn’t answer for a moment because the thought made him feel more disgusted than he expected.
"...shall well kill them?" He growled.
The sudden shift in his voice silenced the room.
Even Vernan, who usually found some way to turn everything into a crude joke, stopped tapping his fingers against his arm.
Selene’s hand tightened around Nikolai’s.
"Nikolai."
"I know, it’s just my jealousy and disgust towards these things..."
The thought of someone creating artificial corpses that carried the same shape, style and mannerisms of his wives suddenly soured the entire thing.
The disgust inside him wasn’t simple jealousy or discomfort. It was the feeling of someone rummaging through his life, stealing pieces of the various women he loved and stitching them together into a mismatched bait.
It was sick.
Nikolai breathed out through his nose.
"Yeah."
He forced himself to look at the footage again, but this time, he didn’t stare at the woman’s chest, hips, or swaying body. He focused on the small details, like how the first woman tilted her chin or the way the second bounced more lightly on her heels. The difference in their shoulders.
"They’re probably different people... or different bodies at least."
Nikolai’s voice became calmer, but the slight growl remained in his throat.
"Whether they’re corpses, mutants, or something else doesn’t matter right now. We don’t have enough to identify them."
Vernan rubbed the side of his neck and sighed.
"Then what? We wait until another patrol gets dragged off?"
"No."
Nikolai tapped the table twice, then turned toward the commander.
"Pull every small patrol back from the lower access road, keep anyone below the Grand Elder level away from that place. No more chasing women with big tits into broken streets. I will lead a patrol to catch the first woman, while Selene and Nikita will attack the second area."
Vernan coughed.
"That sounded personal."
"It is personal if my men keep dying from being horny idiots."
Nikita stood behind him with her arms crossed, nodding with a smile.
"Yeah! Good! Scold them more."
Selene rolled her eyes but didn’t disagree, just watching as Sarah closed the footage and marked the two locations with red rings.
Nikolai glanced around the rough outpost again, then toward the wounded hounds outside the open doorway.
"Vernan, Alexei, gather those who can still move. Ryan distributes the serum and stays here until the injured stabilise."
Ryan opened his mouth, then shut it when Amora smiled behind him.
"...Understood."
Nikolai looked toward the dock route on the map.
"We move after ten minutes. If those women are bait, then we’ll take the bait and devour them whole."
