Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride

Chapter 733: Hear Your Father Lose

Chapter 733: Hear Your Father Lose

The blood wall behind Ivan began to pulse harder, and dozens of dead hands burst from the ground around his feet.

Ivan leapt backwards.

Several fingers scraped against his boots before the corpses dragged themselves free, climbing over one another with broken limbs and twisted necks.

The damage to their bodies meant nothing anymore. Blood filled their empty joints and forced them upright, turning the dead Nosferatu into mindless ghouls.

“Still using tricks, bastard!”

Ivan swung his arm.

Crack!

His fist tore through the first ghoul’s skull, scattering pieces of bone and flesh across the ground. He caught another by the jaw, twisted its head backwards and drove his claws through the centre of its chest.

Pop!

The lump of blood burst.

Its body collapsed into ashes, but three more took its place.

Alucard walked between them without concern, his cane brushing against the wet concrete with each light step.

“These creatures lack intelligence, skill and even the ability to feel pain. Yet you still allow them to distract you.”

“You hide behind them while talking about distractions?”

“Hide?”

Alucard’s smile widened.

Ivan lost sight of him.

The rain shifted beside his left shoulder.

Ivan turned and swung his elbow, but the wooden cane slipped beneath his arm and struck his stomach.

Thud!

The narrow point sank into the earlier wound.

“Argh!”

“Does this look like I am hiding to you, boy?”

His abdomen tightened around the cane as Alucard twisted his wrist, widening the wound before pulling it free. Ivan reached for his coat, but the old vampire lowered himself and passed beneath his claws with ease.

The cane struck behind Ivan’s knee.

Crack!

His leg buckled.

A ghoul threw itself onto his back, wrapping both arms around his shoulders while another sank its teeth into his forearm. Ivan roared, grabbed the creature behind him and threw it over his body.

It crashed into the other undead.

Alucard appeared through the scattered bodies.

Ivan raised his guard.

Clack!

The cane struck his wrist.

Clack!

His shoulder.

Clack!

His ribs.

Every strike landed upon a different wound before Ivan could adjust his defence. Alucard moved around him with short, clean steps, keeping within reach while never letting Ivan’s claws touch him.

‘He’s predicting every movement…’

“You look a little distracted; keep focused, Ivan Volkov.”

“Ptuu… shut up,” Ivan grumbled with blood on his lips.

Ivan changed his stance and stopped chasing the old vampire with his eyes. His ears caught the sound of the cane cutting through the rain, and he raised his hand.

The wooden shaft struck his palm.

Ivan’s fingers closed around it.

“Got you.”

Alucard’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Ivan pulled him forward and drove his fist towards the centre of his face.

The old vampire released the cane.

Ivan’s fist struck nothing.

Alucard twisted around his shoulder, placing one hand against Ivan’s back before kicking the side of his knee. Ivan lost his balance for a moment, and Alucard used the opening to reclaim his cane from Ivan’s hand.

Thud!

The handle slammed against the back of Ivan’s neck.

His face struck the ground.

Before he could rise, a dozen ghouls piled onto his body, clawing at his back and arms. Their teeth tore through his clothes, finding the flesh beneath.

“Get off me!”

Ivan forced himself upward.

His muscles expanded beneath his skin as he threw the undead away. Two struck the blood wall and sank halfway into its surface, while the rest rolled across the concrete with broken limbs.

Alucard watched him rise.

“Your brute strength remains impressive.”

“Shut up.”

Ivan wiped the blood running from his mouth.

His abdomen continued to heal, but Alucard kept reopening the same wound. The bastard wasn’t simply faster. He understood exactly where to strike and how much force he needed to stop Ivan from gathering momentum.

‘He wants me angry.’

Yet no matter how hard he tried, Ivan couldn’t calm himself.

It only made his anger worse.

Alucard had been messing with his son, torturing him physically, mentally forcing him into situations that drove Ivan mad. Now trapped on the other side of the blood wall… Ivan could only worry about the future his wife saw.

In addition, he had separated Ivan from Dimitri and Vladimir.

The old bastard stood before him with that relaxed smile, treating the entire battle as entertainment.

‘I hate his slimy, disgusting smirk!’

Ivan’s claws grew longer.

His nails split apart, curving into thick silver blades while veins rose across his forearms. The pressure inside his chest expanded, forcing his shoulders wider as the bones beneath his skin began to shift.

Alucard stopped and watched the wolf.

“Oh?”

Ivan bent forward.

Crack!

His spine stretched.

The muscles along his back swelled, tearing through his shirt as coarse fur spread over his shoulders and arms. His jaw pushed forward with several heavy pops, teeth lengthening until they pressed against his lower lip.

The ghouls rushed him, and Ivan turned, sweeping his arm through their bodies.

Shhhk!

Four bodies split apart beneath his claws without effort. Their rotten blood and flesh scattered across the ground as he caught another ghoul by the waist and smashed it into the rest.

His body continued to expand.

His legs bent into a stronger posture as his boots tore apart. The pressure surrounding him grew heavier with each breath, and when Ivan finally raised his head, the top of the blood wall barely reached above his shoulders.

Alucard stared up at the transformed werewolf.

Ivan’s eyes burned through the rain.

“Let’s see you dance now.”

A silver beast, illuminated by the blood moon, stood before Alucard. His voice emerged deeper, distorted by the fangs filling his mouth.

Alucard’s expression remained calm, but the playful smile disappeared.

Ivan rushed forward, his feet digging deep grooves into the concrete.

Boom!

The concrete shattered beneath his feet.

Alucard shifted aside, but Ivan’s claws followed him, cutting across the front of his coat.

Shhhk!

Blood scattered into the rain as Alucard appeared several metres away, one hand pressed against his chest. Four thin cuts stretched across his skin beneath the torn fabric.

“You wretched, filthy mutt!” Alucard said with a despicable grunt.

The wound sealed almost instantly, but Ivan’s silver eyes shone brightly as if he didn’t care; his movements almost doubled in speed, power and accuracy. He would force Alucard to his limit, and protect his son!

“Don’t get cocky!”

“Silence, you filthy leech.”

Alucard attempted to use his speed once again, vanishing from sight. However, Ivan’s eyes narrowed, his maw filled with fangs curving as he turned slightly, avoiding the blow and caught the wooden cane between his claws.

“Y-You!?”

Creak!

The wooden cane groaned in Ivan’s grip.

Alucard released it and stepped towards Ivan instead of retreating. His palm struck beneath Ivan’s ribs. “Die!” A sudden, powerful burst of heat spread through Ivan’s chest as a sharp blade of blood penetrated him.

The blow forced Ivan back half a step.

Nothing more.

Ivan coughed, ignoring the blood that sprayed across the concrete, instead raising both arms above his head.

…and slammed Alucard into the ground.

Concrete collapsed beneath his feet, forming a shallow crater as Ivan’s claws sank into his flesh, leaving deep gashes along Alucard’s forearms. Alucard’s coat tore along his shoulders while his shoes sank into the broken stone.

Ivan glanced down at the vampire, and his grin widened.

“Not smiling now?”

Alucard raised his gaze.

His eyes had become completely red.

“Don’t fool yourself, werewolf! I have not even used half my power yet!”

The ground beneath Ivan’s feet moved, and countless dead hands seized his ankles. Ivan looked down for less than a second, but Alucard slipped from beneath his claws before his cane struck the side of Ivan’s jaw.

Crack!

His head snapped sideways.

Alucard followed the impact, landing another blow against Ivan’s throat before spinning behind him. The cane struck the joint beneath Ivan’s shoulder, then the back of his knee.

Ivan swung blindly.

Alucard ducked beneath the claws.

Each movement carried the same ease as before, but the speed had increased. Ivan’s sharpened eyes could finally see him, yet his body struggled to follow every change of direction.

A strike hit his ribs.

Another struck his spine.

A third pierced beneath his shoulder blade.

Ivan roared and threw himself backwards, trying to crush Alucard with his larger body. The old vampire dissipated into a mist of blood and vanished from sight as Ivan crashed into the blood wall.

The barrier stretched around his back before throwing him forward again. Alucard waited for him, standing with one foot slightly behind the other and his cane held across his body.

The point drove into Ivan’s chest.

Pain spread through his body as the cane sank between two ribs, and with a sneer, the vampire twisted his wrist. Ivan grabbed the weapon and snapped it in half, leaving the broken end buried inside him.

Alucard glanced at the shortened cane in his hand.

“How rude.”

Ivan’s claws swept towards his head.

Alucard lowered himself, letting the claws pass over his hair before driving the broken cane into Ivan’s side.

The jagged wood pierced deep.

Ivan clenched his teeth and slammed his elbow down.

Alucard crossed his arms.

Bang!

The impact threw him across the enclosed battlefield. He struck the blood wall, but instead of sinking into it, one foot planted against its surface.

A bizarre red mist overlapped with Alucard’s body as his eyes turned black.

Then he rushed forward.

Ivan barely raised his arms.

Alucard struck more than a dozen times.

The broken cane hammered against his wrists, elbows, ribs and throat, each attack connecting with a wound created by the last. Ivan’s werewolf form could withstand the damage, but the old vampire never let him recover or strike back.

‘Faster…’

Alucard passed beneath his arm.

The cane pierced his stomach.

‘He’s getting faster!’

Ivan spun with his claws spread.

Alucard stepped between them.

His palm struck Ivan’s jaw.

The blow wasn’t heavy, yet Ivan’s sight became white.

‘How!?’

Ivan’s heart thundered at his current state.

The Nosferatu weren’t a combat clan, while the Volkov honed their bodies to the limit. He shouldn’t be slower, especially when transformed. There was no explanation for this strange situation!

Alucard’s fingers moved to Ivan’s throat and tightened around the fur covering it.

For the first time, Ivan felt the old vampire’s true strength.

His feet left the ground.

Alucard lifted his transformed body with one hand.

Ivan’s eyes widened.

“You…”

“I told you to keep up.”

Alucard threw him.

Ivan crashed through a group of revived ghouls and struck the blood wall with enough force to shake the entire barrier. His massive body sank into its surface as thick blood wrapped around his arms and legs.

He pulled against it.

The wall tightened.

More blood climbed over his shoulders and chest, holding him in place while the dead crawled towards him from below.

“Bastard!”

Ivan tore one arm free and crushed the first ghoul that reached him.

Alucard walked forward.

His breathing remained steady. Several tears covered his coat, and Ivan’s claws had left wounds across his chest and arms, but none appeared deep enough to slow him.

Ivan ripped his other arm from the wall.

Alucard vanished.

The broken cane pierced through Ivan’s palm, forcing his hand back against the barrier.

Ivan roared and snapped at him.

Alucard leaned beyond the reach of his fangs.

“Your transformation is powerful,” he said. “Stronger than the last time I witnessed it.”

Ivan forced one leg free and kicked.

Alucard caught his ankle.

“But power without control remains painfully simple.”

He twisted Ivan’s leg and threw his entire body away from the wall, and Ivan struck the ground on his back.

Before he could rise, Alucard stepped onto his chest.

Crack!

“You see, when a mortal faces a god… they should understand the foolishness of their folly and beg for forgiveness on their knees.”

The concrete beneath Ivan collapsed further as his claws cut towards the old vampire’s leg, and yet Alucard moved his foot with ease.

He crushed Ivan’s throat and pressed down, stopping Ivan’s attack inches away from him.

The pressure against his neck increased. In desperation, his werewolf form thrashed beneath the old vampire, but Alucard remained standing above him with his hands folded over the broken cane.

The difference in their size made the sight ridiculous, but did little to change the result.

Ivan’s claws scraped across the ground with bright sparks, yet Alucard looked down at him with the same calm expression he had worn before the battle began.

“This is why I separated you.”

Ivan bared his fangs, spit and blood spraying towards the vampire.

“Afraid… we would crush you together?”

“No.”

Alucard leaned closer.

“I wanted your son to hear the sound of his father losing.”

I made the chapter extra long because I didn’t post for a few days due to the heat and my office being hell.

Hope you enjoy.
