Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride

Chapter 764: Stealing Our Way to the Island

Chapter 764: Stealing Our Way to the Island

As much as he wanted to meet Nikita, Kumiko or Selene after the stressful day… Nikolai had no choice but to make haste with his plans. There were no second chances. By the time Nikolai arrived at the meeting point, the sun had completely vanished behind the distant buildings.

The Blood Moon hung high above S-City.

Its crimson light reflected across the harbour several kilometres away, staining the dark water with long streaks of red that shifted whenever the waves struck the concrete seawalls.

Nikolai hated looking at it now.

‘Damn… it feels like only a few hours ago…’

The sights of the outpost being destroyed, fighting a desperate battle, and almost losing his wives… thanks to the power of his mother’s clan, the Báthory, he prevailed this time. But there was no promise that miracle could occur twice.

‘Not to mention, Mother is now in a bad way after seeing her vision…’

Only several hours earlier, the moon had been something he’d almost forgotten existed. Now every time he raised his head, all he could imagine was millions of people suddenly turning against each other while he remained trapped somewhere on Alucard’s island.

‘Tsk…’

He pushed the thought aside.

There was nothing he could do about the moon tonight.

What he could do was make sure they were ready to move when the time came.

“Boss.”

Alexei approached from beside one of the parked vehicles.

The large vampire with weak werewolf blood wore dark combat clothing beneath a long coat, while his weapon remained secured against his back. Vernan stood several metres behind him, silent as usual, examining the harbour through a pair of binoculars.

His almost comedic bear form made this amusing.

“Hahaha, you two look so good.” Nikolai joked, with the normal-sized Ryan standing with two massive Desert Eagles at his waist beside Vernan.

“Tsk… shut up. You always act so annoying, prick.” Ryan flipped him off.

“…Cunt.”

Nikolai didn’t mind his brother being this way before a mission; rather, this kind of banter felt more real than the military style his father and grandfather preferred.

‘Forget it…’

And he would also be mad.

“Boss, don’t be too harsh,” Alexei whispered. “He was apparently going to have an entire night of hot sex with his lamia mistress.”

“Tsk… why am I jealous?”

Nikolai had countless wonderful women, yet he didn’t have a lamia…

As if he could hear Nikolai’s jealous thoughts, Ryan leaned against the bonnet of another vehicle while checking his ammunition with a smug-ass grin.

Mikael had also come.

Nikolai glanced between them before noticing another five figures waiting farther behind.

All of them were people whose names had appeared in the preliminary strike-force documents. They weren’t special units; rather, their power could barely reach the Adult or Mature stages.

But their faces, driving skills and recon were unmatched.

“Everyone here?”

Alexei nodded.

“Everyone you requested.”

“Good.”

Nikolai didn’t bother giving them some grand speech.

He walked towards the edge of the small hill overlooking the harbour and studied the area below.

Three large warehouses occupied the western side, while a narrow road followed the perimeter fence towards several docks. Four vessels rested upon the water: two medium-sized military transports, one smaller patrol craft and a larger supply ship moored farther out.

Lights remained active across the compound.

‘It’s such a pain in the ass we can’t use the main docks…’

These warehouses were several thousand metres south of the previous docks destroyed by his father and the other adults. To reach the island from here, or using these boats, would take two or more hours of dodging their guns and rockets.

Guards patrolled between buildings.

Nothing suggested they expected an attack.

Vernan lowered the binoculars.

“Thirty-seven visible.”

“Are they zombies or mutants?”

“Most of them seem to be even lower… maybe thralls at best, with some humans who work near the docks at the north pier.”

“Shit.”

That complicated things.

Although he could just kill them, the goal for his clan in the future was to unite the human supernatural world using Ryan, his sister and Madoka.

Nikolai continued watching for several moments.

He could smell them even from this distance.

The humans didn’t carry weapons.

“Don’t kill the humans unless they attack first.”

Nobody questioned the order.

Nikolai pointed towards the docks.

“We need the boats intact. At least two of them. The patrol craft doesn’t matter, but I want both transports if possible.”

Ryan looked towards the harbour.

“What about the supply ship?”

“If we can take it without damaging the others, take it. Otherwise leave it.”

Mikael folded his arms.

“And the Nosferatu?”

“Kill whoever tries to stop us.”

Nikolai turned towards the group.

“But don’t chase anyone who runs away. We’re not here to clear the harbour. We’re here to steal their transport and find out whether those vessels have anything that can help us reach the island.”

His gaze moved across the five candidates.

He didn’t tell them this was also an evaluation.

If they needed to know they were being watched before behaving properly, Nikolai didn’t want them beside him when Alucard started tearing their plans apart.

“Vernan, take two people through the warehouses and secure the eastern dock. Alexei, Mikael, you’re with me.”

Ryan straightened.

“And me?”

Nikolai looked towards him.

“Take the remaining two and secure the engines.”

Ryan’s expression became serious.

“Understood.”

“Nobody transforms unless necessary. The moment they realise what we’re doing, they’ll probably try to destroy the boats.”

Nikolai’s lips curled faintly.

“Don’t let them.”

***

The first guard died without making a sound.

Vernan appeared behind him, wrapped one arm around the Nosferatu’s throat and drove a narrow blade through the base of his skull.

His body disappeared into the shadows before the second patrol rounded the warehouse.

Nikolai watched from the opposite side of the road.

‘This is going much better than I thought…’

They moved quickly, without wasting time or making noise. Though Vernan looked like a huge black bear, his skills and power allowed him to take two or three men down with a single movement.

Alexei remained beside him while Mikael slipped farther ahead, using the stacked cargo containers to hide his approach.

For almost three minutes, everything went perfectly.

Then one of the humans screamed.

“Attack!”

A Nosferatu officer turned towards Nikolai’s position.

Their eyes met.

“ATTACK! IT’S THOSE FUCKING DOGS!”

“GET THEM!”

“So much for subtlety.”

Nikolai rushed forward.

The first vampire barely managed to raise his weapon before Nikolai’s fist smashed into his chest.

Bang!

The impact launched him through the side of a wooden crate, leaving a huge hole where his heart used to be.

Another Nosferatu came from the left.

Nikolai turned, caught his wrist and drove his knee into the man’s stomach before throwing him into Alexei’s path.

Crack!

The vampire’s head popped like a small grape.

With Nikolai’s entrance, the entire harbour came alive. Alarms screamed from the warehouses while dozens of footsteps thundered towards the docks. Alexei’s machete beheaded a thrall, spraying blood across the clean docks.

‘Wow…. It’s like hell…’

“Protect the ships!” someone shouted.

Nikolai’s eyes narrowed.

‘No.’

That wasn’t what the officer had said.

A second voice rang out from farther down the pier.

“Destroy them! Sink the transports!”

The humans tried to protect them, while the Thralls all carried oil and petrol and flame… they were going to ruin Nikolai’s efforts.

Several Nosferatu immediately changed direction.

They stopped rushing towards Nikolai and instead ran towards the vessels.

“Hah!”

Not this time.

“Ryan!”

“I heard him!”

Gunfire erupted near the docks.

Nikolai saw Ryan sprinting between the mooring lines while two of his men covered him from behind. One Nosferatu leapt onto the first transport carrying a black-red object covered in pulsing veins.

‘The fuck is that?’

Nikolai moved instinctively, worried it might be an explosive; he leapt several metres, landing in front of the bastard with a bang.

Boom!

The wood cracked beneath his feet as the thrall toppled over.

Then something struck him from the side.

Clang!

A heavy blade scraped across the black armour covering his forearm.

The attacker was strong.

Elder level at least.

Nikolai turned towards the unfamiliar vampire and immediately felt the pressure surrounding him.

The man smiled.

“So the little Patriarch came himself.”

Nikolai’s first instinct was to kill him.

He could feel the opening already.

The vampire shifted backwards after his failed attack, deliberately exposing his left side while moving away from the docks.

‘He’s baiting me.’

Only several days earlier, Nikolai might have followed without thinking.

His body still wanted to, but he managed to stop, and instead remained focused on the strange bloody red object in the thrall’s arms. “Don’t move!” With a single shout, the thrall’s entire body froze, convulsing on the ground from an Ancestor’s killing intent.

The vampire’s smile disappeared.

“Hm?”

Nikolai glanced past him as two more Nosferatu were already running towards the transport.

“Alexei.”

His knight appeared beside him, once an enemy, then his trainer and now his best friend and knight commander during combat.

“Take him.”

Alexei didn’t ask why.

His weapon collided with the Elder vampire’s sword before the man could retreat.

Nikolai was already gone.

The first saboteur reached the engine compartment.

Nikolai’s transformed arm caught him across the throat before he could throw the explosive.

Crack!

The vampire’s body folded backwards, and Nikolai caught the pulsing device before it touched the floor and threw it towards the open water.

Three seconds later, the sea erupted.

BOOM!

A pillar of crimson water rose several metres into the air.

“Fuck…”

That would’ve torn half the engine compartment apart.

Another Nosferatu rushed him.

Nikolai blocked the attack, but rather than immediately countering, he shifted his body and looked beyond the man’s shoulder.

A second enemy approached from the rear.

A third climbed over the railing.

His grandfather’s voice returned to him, the fight with his father and that old bastard replaying. The advice given was that he shouldn’t think of fighting the enemies one at a time, but to keep his consciousness focused on every movement of anyone within his range simultaneously.

Nikolai allowed the first vampire to press forward, and the man thought he had gained the advantage while Nikolai stepped aside, letting him pass.

The second Nosferatu’s weapon struck his ally instead. Before either could recover, Nikolai drove one elbow into the first man’s throat and kicked the second from the pier while the third hesitated.

‘I need a little more work…’

His method wasn’t perfect, but… keeping his senses split was hard.

“Boss!”

Ryan’s voice came from inside the transport.

“We’ve got a problem!”

“What?”

“This thing won’t move!”

Nikolai reached the engine compartment several seconds later.

Ryan stood beside a large control panel covered in unfamiliar symbols while one of the human workers crouched against the wall with both hands raised.

“Explain.”

“You can’t operate these vessels.”

Nikolai looked towards him.

“Why?”

“They’re bound.”

“Bound to what?”

The man pointed towards a dark-red object embedded beside the controls.

At first, Nikolai thought it was decorative.

Then he saw the veins.

A fist-sized crystal rested beneath the glass, filled with slowly circulating blood.

“OH COME ON!”

Nikolai roared at the sudden bullshit. He remained pissed while staring at the crystal.

That’s when the voice of one of the human engineers who crouched beside the boat raised his arm and spoke in a shaky voice. “A-Ah…. I think I can get this working… it just needs blood…!”

“Eh?”

“What?!”

“….”
